If You Came to This Site.....

2011 Hot Christmas Toys

would you buy? If not, why? This is my Christmas toys review website and I've been busting my hump trying to make sales from it....so far, very dismal results.

So....as a consumer, what would deter you from click through and buying? Just looking to try to turn it around in the precious little time before Christmas.

    Your front page needs a lot of work.

    Couple of ideas:
    - Images. People like images. Instead of just listing your content, create a table with those headers and make images for each of the categories.

    - Black Friday deals is just stuffed on the page. I didn't realize it was a link until I hovered over it and my mouse turned into a hand.

    - Twitter button? Find a MUCH better image and put it somewhere more noticeable.


    Overall, your site is very bland. When I land on the page I have no idea what to do. Give me some pretty toys to click on

    Great start. You put a lot of work into your site and it should pay off. On the home page I would shorten the titles under CONTENTS AT A GLANCE. In my browser the second line of the longer titles overlaps onto the first making it hard to read and does not look very professional.

    If you haven't done it already I would get backlinks to the inner pages of the actual toys etc. Everything will depend on getting traffic right away. If it is in the budget you might test some PPC.

    I agree with the others. I think the what you have done so far is great. Looks like you've put a lot of work into it. You should definitely get some images on the site.

    One thing though: Under the Contents At A Glance Section: the links that run onto two lines are overlapping and kind of ruins the appeal of the site. I checked to see if it was just Google Chrome but it's also happening in IE8. I can help you fix it if you want...just PM me.

      Count me in as another one who likes the layout. As a consumer, when I go to a site that I have never been to before I like to see a Contact Us, Privacy Page and maybe even an About Us Page. If I am going to whip out my CC I want to be able to contact someone so maybe a Skype Phone number?

      I know that it is an affiliate site and the goal is to get them to Amazon but if it were me shopiing and I didnt see a way to conatct the site owner, I would probably hit the back button before I clicked on a product.

      I'm sure Im wierd like that so take what I said with a grain of salt.

      Otherwise, they layout is fantastic!!!

    Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, guys! I am headed over there to tweek it now. If you don't care, bookmark it and check in a few days and see if my tweeking makes it better.

    I get about 90-100 visitors per day. I've made about $30.00 from the site, which really is nothing.

    I would not buy due to the lack of pictures, and some of the graphics look really ugly, such as the follow us on twitter button.

      It looks too "bloggy".

      I'd suggest some font changes and I concur with the comments upon the graphics. They look a bit makeshift as they stand currently.

      There is a good "vibe" to the site though so I definately have faith that you could push it in the right direction!
