is there any external tool you can get so you can check how many times your web hosts server going down?????????

I use one site for my personal site - one url is free:
Free website monitoring service: Montastic

For my paid sites I have a version of netsaint - now called nagios - running:
Nagios - The Industry Standard in IT Infrastructure Monitoring

I've also used Web Site Monitoring by Keynote Red Alert at some previous datacenters I've ran and like them - but they are pricey.

I found Pingdom (Pingdom Web site monitoring for 100% uptime. Measure your downtime.) to be the best (not affiliated).

I use it to check all my servers (pinging them every few mins) - especially my "virtual windows" desktop that hosts all my SEO tools.

This one is the only shared VPS that I use, and it goes down here and then for maintenance - which means I have to re-start all the tools after booting.

Wouldn't want to miss it, can be a life saver if you have critical pages!

Another tool I'd throw in the mix is UptimeRobot. Just Google it for more information. UptimeRobot is a free tool that works beautifully to check the status of my servers and sites. The interface is easy to navigate, free of clutter, and there are plenty of options available to monitor your sites however you want. You have various notification options. I get notified via email every time any of my sites/servers is down for any reason. Hope that helps.
