What WF services/products to use for a message board? Risks? Best strategy? Anyone else doing it?

Here's my deal.... I run a messageboard that gets not too much traffic, about 1500 unique visits a day on average, and has over 17,000 threads, 80,000 posts, and over 60,000 indexed pages on Google. My traffic has waned in the last 3 years since I haven't done squat for off page SEO for the site.

I don't have time to do all the manual off page SEO work and want to outsource.

I've thought about using scrapebox to find relevant do follow blogs for manual content posting and sending to Microworkers to have them post but even that takes time.

I've also thought about using a number of services I've read about here from article writing services, to dripfeed blasts to other "all encompassing packages" like Sarkarkumar09's G-Killer Box which seems to get great reviews, and does a little bit of everything. It almost sounds too good to be true.

I already rank on the front page of google for a lot of fairly competitive keywords/phrases, but want to get moved up from say #4 or #5 on the front page to say #1, #2 or #3.

My biggest concerns are that I'm in this for long haul to gain members and traffic, and this isn't some site I'm looking to monetize quickly. I can't afford to get penalized by google, or lose good established page rank (for advertising purposes) or SERPs.

How would you all go about getting bumped in the SERPs and ideally getting some page rank out of it for select key phrases if you were in my shoes. What tools/services would you look at vs. which ones would you avoid?

Thanks in advance!
