Anyone know how to transfer Word salesletter to Dreamweaver.....

.....without messing up the formatting? I had a salesletter written for me and it was sent over in a word file. For some reason, I can't maintain the look (highlighting, font color, size, etc.) when I try to copy and paste it into Dreamweaver. saving it as a webpage doesnt work either. At this point, I'd rather just pay someone to transfer it for me...running out of patience.

Do you know how to fix it? Please pm, skype, or post here. Thanks.

Copy and paste it into notepad or any other application that doesn't use MS "smart" formating. Then clean it up, if need be, and then copy and paste it into your HTML editor.

I am able to do this using MS Word 2003 and DW MX 2000.

Also, instead of using the keyboard shortcut or Edit | Paste from the top toolbar, you can use Edit | Paste HTML from the top toolbar.

    Hi Mike,

I've done this several times by using FrontPage as a "go between". So I convert
to FrontPage --> Dreamweaver. In fact, I use FrontPage to do all my yellow
highlighting because it is so much easier. I work between both programs.

Now I have Office 2007, the copy-paste into DreamWeaver is much easier.

Alan and Raydal - thanks for solving a problem that has vexed me many times. I didn't think I could preserve the formatting from Word, so I would paste into Notepad, and from there, into the webpage.

Of course, I would have to redo the formatting once the text was pasted into the web page. Looking forward to trying your suggestions.

    Hey Mike,

Why not save the Word doc as a web or html file, then open it up in dreamweaver? That should work with out cuting and pasting anything.

    Hi Mike,

Word files are more compatible to Frontpage since both are from the MS stable. DW won't recognize many formats of a word doc. So its better to try open it in FrontPage.

If you can convert it into plain text and again redo it in DW, nothing like it. But that will need again redoing the formatting you have done in word.

    Stephen,

I know for a fact that DW with accept word docs that are saved as web or html docs. I do it all the time. So there is no need to reformat unless you do not put your text in a table to begin with.
