Indexed in under 6 hours?

Hi all

I just started another website about 7 hours ago.

I then started posting comments and i also submitted 2 articles.

I then did a check to see if Google was picking up my website.

i searched for my website like this on Google:

"mywebsite.com"

I found the place where i made the psot comment as well as my 2 articles.

Does this mean my website has been indexed by Google?

Thank you

Search for your site like this:

    site:yoursite.com

Your domain will be the first result, if it's been indexed.

If it is listed on Google, that means it has been indexed.

Here's a tip for getting indexed quickly on Yahoo:
Add your sites to your MyYahoo page. If you don't have one, get one now. Once your site is added to your MyYahoo page, it will be indexed in about 20 minutes or less after you make any updates to yoru site that are sent out over your RSS feed. For most blogs or CMS (Word press, Moveable Type, Drupal, etc.) powered sites, that functionality is built in.

Where exactly do you add the page?

The fastest indexing time I've seen for a new website is 3 hours. The fastest for new content on an existing website is 7 minutes. I like to do these little experiments to break up the day a bit

"curation" of news content can index your new posts, but on older sites, literary in one minute from posting, and get you on #1 google position for "news" keyword.. but "curation needs to be done properly

Recently watched a couple of interviews of Google Engineers who directly work on the search algorithm that's used for search results and ranking. Picked up interesting tidbits of information. One was that they made about 500 direct changes to their search algorithm in the last year. That's more than one tweak per day.

Another important point I gathered from those interviews was that Google is working tirelessly to index sites as FAST as they can. It has come down to a few hours and seems like they're striving to index (and make searchable) newly launched sites in under an hour. Let's understand that Google search results are NOT real time. Google indexes sites and then makes them available in results. Therefore there's always going to be some delay involved from when a new site is launched on the web to when it's displayed in Google search results.

Therefore, per OP, site viewable only hours after launch makes sense. To directly answer the question, yes, if a site is viewable in search results, then it's indexed by Google. More great things to come from the search giant.

One question - did you point any backlinks to your website? That could definitely change the indexing time. Especially social bookmarking. I have had really great indexing results from submitting my sites to the top social bookmarking sites after it is created

This works well, and posting on twitter will get you indexed extremely fast as well. Especially if you get a few retweets.

Yeah. Social bookmarking to some new sites doesn't look too strange to Google, and older sites get bookmarked all the time.
