How long does it take to hit $200,000?

I am kind of in a desperate situation. Its not an emergency but I need to make $200k as soon as possible for my own satisfaction. It is kind of a debt on me and I want to get rid of it earliest possible. I know there's no foolproof method of determining income so I was just wondering how long did it take for you to make 200k in internet marketing? And can that be attained working totally outside IM or MMO niche?

It's not a question of 'how long', but rather 'how'.

If you've got a few non-authoritative AdSense sites (which stay that way), you'll never, ever even get close to $50,000.

But are you talking about $200,000 per year, or in total, because $200,000 total is really not hard at all.

You need to develop a business model. No one who earns $200,000 through self-employment does it without a strong business model. And if they did achieve that success without a business model, it was likely a combination of chance and blind luck - they certainly wouldn't be able to sustain it without plans and goals.

Not so long. It was last night while I was sleeping that I hit $200k. I signed up on Clickbank, I wrote some 300 word articles, created a couple of lenses, spun those articles, submitted them to a bunch of article directories. Then I rinsed and repeated a few times. Then when I wake up, I realized that I was having a dream.

Could take years, could take months. Really depends on how your business model is and what you are working towards.

      Psst... LOL!

But truthfully, it's hard to put a time limit on this. I agree that you need a plan in place. It does not have to be formal, just something written down on paper. There are so many business models you could use to achieve this. Find one that appeals to you, and find someone using that model who is killing it. This will be a good guide to get there. If you can get a coach or mentor using that model, even better!

The only thing you can do is to work your absolute hardest and try to make it work for you. Put in the effort, and you will be able to reach your goals eventually.

It basically depends on the system you have in place. If you do everything yourself, you would get nowhere near that mark; but if you get others to do most of the work (outsourcing) you should be good...or almost.

This is true as well. Outsourcing can go a long way toward helping you to reach your goals.

That is depending the niche you are targeting. If you want to make money with adsense i suggest having a look at there keyword tool and look at the CPC. From my knowledge i believe that the best niches for making money are the real estate niches.

if you can spend $5000 on promoting your own product and target a good niche, you can achieve this in 4 months. someone gave me a case study of a marketer that spent $5000 to market his product and in 60 days, he made $100,000. I will check if i can share the ebook with you.

Just motivate yourself and save the money. People can find an easy method to make some money then blow it all because they get that urge they can spend it without damaging the overall goal.

      Raindance knows this, Thekaver.

He's not asking you how long it will take him. He knows we can't answer that.

He's expressly asking only how long it took you.

      A long time.

For the first 4 months I earned nothing (to speak of), and it was a little over another year and a half, after that, before my total profits got to $200k. So, 2 years altogether, give or take a month. And I'm pretty sure I was very lucky with it, too. And there really is luck involved in it, however businesslike you are about it, and however much you "create your own luck" (to some extent).

Yes, absolutely definitely: no possible question about that.

I strongly suspect, in fact, that aiming for the IM and/or MMO markets very greatly reduces the chances of the "average person" ever earning $200,000 at all.

It's possible to do it in a shorter period of time than expected, but in that case I would have to guess you would be willing to invest a lot of time and/or money to get those kind of results, especially if you haven't already laid a good foundation...

It takes as long as you make it. If you have a viable business plan and put it into effect, then it could happen within a period of days, months, or years depending on how it operates.

I know it's frustrating to be in debt, but don't focus immediately on getting out of it; that's the worst way you can go. Instead, go for the long term and try and hit $200,000 or more in a year every year, that way you don't have to deal with too many of the financial problems that you're having in the near future.

Keep your chin up, and keep working hard. That's my 2 pesos.

Dunno... yet, I'll let'cha know when I get there though, I promise!

I am aiming for 18-24 months personally. Give or take a year or two.

In the end, if you build a solid list up steadily, build trust, deliver quality, and look after the interests of your subscribers/prospects needs and get them there quicker... anyone could essentially earn/make $200k online with time, effort, discipline, perseverance, and damn good plan as MattVit stated above.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it, but I like the number you set for yourself.

    All the Best,

You can make it as soon as you develop your mind into thinking that you can. Find a hungry market, supply the solution, put in a lot of hard work, long hours, and you can make it. If you've never read Think and Grow Rich then get yourself a copy and you'll be motivated and have the right mind to accomplish it.

Good luck. I really hope you make it.

I'll take a crack at this. I'd say that if you figured out a niche that you were really passionate about, and came up with a legitimate solution to the problems that people have in that niche, and created a high quality website...

You should be able to create a business that's earning you a full time salary within about 3 years - $5,000ish a month. From that point on, it's just a matter of scale, but I'd say you're looking at 3-5 years of hard saving to pay that money back.

Now, I know many people will say they could do it faster. This all depends on the person trying to raise the money. If I absolutely had to raise that kind of money, or face terrible consequences, I'd raise it as fast as necessary, adapting my strategy to match the timescale.

But you'll all have to admit that the fields of internet marketing are littered with get rich quick failure. Making money slowly is relatively straightforward and safe.

Unfortunately, the people least equipped to raise money quickly are the ones who most desperately want to do it.

I agree with most of what others have said here, but let me put it in my own words. It's possible to make that kind of money in relatively short period of time on the internet, conventional businesses will take at least five years to start showing profit but if you have identified the right market and are prepared to throw in a lot of time, effort and money! and if you offer a hot product or service that your niche is looking for, you can do this in two to three years. Once you have built credibility and a responsive list, then you can have an on-going profitable business for as long as you are prepared to work at it.
