Hey guys, I want to build a professional site and don't want to have
any problem with domain registration sooner or later.

Which one you prefer? Godaddy or Namecheap?

Thanks
Regards

They are both really popular. GoDaddy tends to have better coupon codes but I always use NameCheap. NameCheap offers free WhoIs guard when you buy from them.

I, myself prefer godaddy. They are also considered number 1 in the domain register niche and they also have a very easy to use domain manager panel. I don't know what type of domain manager namecheap has, but from my experience i know that godaddy is the best.

Let me share a story with you, I don't say is 100% sure but worth to read it. I noticed lately that when searching for domain names available on godaddy sometimes when I am not decided to buy a certain domain found, when I come back after few days guess what? domain is not available, is bought by Godaddy. I've never had a problem with them, I have domains on both namecheap and godaddy but for available domains research I suggest you go with namecheap.

After one week from my first search, I've received an email...they were telling me that the domain that I found last week, is available in the premium domains listing for just 699$.....

    Good luck!

Don't use Godaddy's or Namecheap's or any domain name registrars to check for the availability of a domain name, unless you are going to register it immediately. I use DomainsBot to see if the domain name I like is available.

This is now a very common practice.

Never check a domain name with ANY register unless you are ready to buy right now.

Type it into Google and see if it appears. If it does not then there is a good chance it is not registered, because Google crawls everything!

This is not absolute for sure gurantee... but in general it works. Then when you are ready to actually spend your money go to your registrar and check. You might find it's already taken but at least you will not be held hostage by the name scalpers.

Both are good. I have domains in both but like Namecheap more. Don't like godaddy's too much up-selling process.. :-)

i know this is horrible reasoning.. but I just dont like godaddy... just because. I used them as a host before, and never really had any problems, but I think its the big name, lots of marketing, and higher priced domains that turns me off about them. I actually prefer internetbs but if i had to pick GD or NC, I would go with namecheap.

I use Godaddy, Why? I always did and had no problems. I hate their buying process where they are pushing their products in your face each and every time.

Your first 3 words are on point.

Of course it matters. But someone with no experience can not make recommendations based on anything factual.

I use both, but I prefer namecheap because of the interface. It's much easier to use.

It absolutely matters. GoDaddy can fix problems, NameCheap can not.

  • From my own recent experience I can tell you that NameCheap support is horrible. They do NOT have telephone support. And each time you try and get "help" a different person is involved. There is no cooridination of mail messages. And apparently they have no Customer Service Manager.

It's like trying to deal with monkeys.

If you choose NameCheap Good luck. If anything goes wrong you may not ever get it fixed.

GoDaddy on the other hand actually replies to tech support messages and offers telephone support as well.

GoDaddy has horriffic upsells and it's a pain in the BU__ to navigate through the mess when purchasing (Jump to the bottom of each offer and click through) and always double check before you confirm purchase. They make a lot of money buy tricking people who do not know what they need. I despise this tactic, but ethics and American Business are not compatible it would seem.

Even with all the BS and trickery you have to put up with GoDaddy... there service and support of the service is significantly better than any other registrar I've found and I've used several. I would not use them for Webhosting however.

If people don't know what they need, they shouldn't be buying domain names. They should ask questions on forums, etc.. to get an understanding of what they need. I don't really have a problem with GoDaddy's upsells, I just click the No thanks buttons.

I've had my godaddy account since a month after they opened. They called me to ask that I put a longer password in since that short wasn't allowed anymore.
I don't like the new console, too much crap

Godaddy, have lost favour with me.

And namecheap, well, they are run by a few hamsters in a wheel.

You are better off becoming friends with a host, that you can rely on and ring up at 2am in the morning and the guy at the other end knows you number and name.

That costs us more, but dang! very worth the time and effort.

NameCheap is the way to go. Even though GoDaddy will 'sometimes' give coupons offering discounts of $3 or so, they will f**k you over later and take your money with all their upsells, renewal fees, etc.

Namecheap does not have upsells and has a very fair and HONEST price for each domain. Also, Whois Guard is free when registering domains with Namecheap which is a feature that godaddy lacks. Like I said previously, they will attain that money you saved on the coupon, probably even more by charging you for stupid things that you shouldn't even have to worry about.

Also, I've used namecheap for a long time and had no problems with them. They are very honest and also provide a user-friendly interface. It's up to you but NameCheap is my recommendation.

Never hand any problems from Godaddy but Namecheap is so quick. Having said that a year ago I would of said Godaddy until Namecheap added the paypal payment function.
