Can Direct Traffic Help Increase G Rankings?

I'm yet to fully test this out, which is why I'm checking here first.

I wanted to ask what everyone thinks of the possibility of G giving preference in regards to rankings for pages that get traffic from an outside source? ie. social media

I'm not talking about the idea of hiring traffic monkeys to build up hits on your pages, but actual legitimate leads from say a Twitter or G+ profile or any other source of traffic outside of their own engine.

Anyone seen results from this or something similar?

    Hi,

Yes, absolutely, Google states this in several places, but you need to be careful, as it's not just the amount of traffic, but also the bounce rate. In other words, a large amount of traffic that sticks around for awhile on your site is good, but a lot of traffic that bounces before 10 seconds can actually hurt you.

Yeah totally makes sense. Traffic from say stumbleupon would probably have a poor bounce rate then compared to traffic sent from a legit Twitter profile which you're actually using to interact with with people would you agree?
