List Building and Attrition Rates -- Looking For Help

Hi everyone I'm new to list building and I thought I'd try to get some opinions about some of the major topics my main question though is attrition rates.

I've heard it said that the standard revenue that can be generated per month from your list is somewhere between .50 and $2.50 a subscriber with that in mind my assumption is that the higher the revenue the greater the attrition rate.

Is that a false assumption? If so what is a good rule of them attrition rate to shot for or to expect?

The next question I have is about Adswaps I've heard of people growing lists really fast with Adswaps and then others advise only do adswaps once a month. My guess is that if you're doing adswaps with individuals who are offering quality giveaways you can do more and if it is low quality do less?

What is the best approach with Ad-swaps?

Any help on these two items would be helpful.

Thanks

I dont really know much about attrition rates, But i can help you out with adswaps..

I would reccommend building your own list first, with about 1k subscribers and then keep swapping with people until you get as many subscribers as you like..

Yes, the quality of the subscribers would be low, but the thing is to build a good relationship with them.. Dont just promote products for a commission all the time.

As long as you keep your subs happy they will stay. Give them some value every time you post something.. and from time to time drop in a freebie. They will love it, as long as the gift is withing their area of interest.. then every few emails you may send an aff link.. but always deliver some value to them first.

Adswaps are tricky. get into giveaways event, you will get more targeted subs in that way

    I think so.

I can't prove this, but I'd be astonished if that's a valid assumption.

The more secure the relationship between the list-owner and the subscribers, the lower the attrition-rate, and the higher the income potential, surely? My assumption (and I don't pretend it's any more than an assumption) would be that if these parameters are correlated at all, the higher the revenue, the more secure the list is and therefore the lower the attrition rate.
