Brand New Affiliate Manager

ok...so, as a brand new affiliate manager, someone who has experience in social networking and in writing copy (pretty much worked as a badass writer but never as an affiliate manager)...

I'm looking for advice from those who have been there, done that, in terms of gaining affiliates that are worth a damn.
