Can you get traffic creating only good content?

I was wondering if in time you can get good traffic if you build a great blog. I do not mean just blogs that focus in each post on SEO and things like this.

I am passionate about what I want to do but I do not like building tons of backlinks from article directories and things like this.

I want to create a great blog with great content. But how will people find me then ?

Nowadays, creating content simply isn't good enough. With the lastest Google algorithm updates (Panda) search engines are looking for more than just content.
They are looking for great content that is shared, liked and linked.
Use social media and social bookmarking for every article and in time you will see great results. If you become an authority in your area then your visitors will do all the work for you.

That's like asking if you can get to a town 50 miles away by walking there. Possible, yes. But it will be much quicker and easier if you simply drive there. Getting backlinks is like "driving" there, as opposed to "walking" there (no backlinks).

If you want to make a good blog just remember these things in your mind :

    1. Quality content : The main thing for your blog is content. Put some quality points in your text. Try to introduce some new things or your experience in your blog. The way of writing and starting and ending of blog plays an important part. Make a post that will attract user and users get interest in it.
    2. Put Images and videos : To get people's attraction on your blog put some graphics in it. Some interesting pics related to the topic. Some flowcharts and make a good video and post it in your blog.
    3. Allow commenting : Always allow commenting in your blog so that after read your blog people will comment on it that it is helpful or not.
    4. Link building for Blog : Try to make some quality links for your blog so that it will appear in search results. This will help you to get traffic to your blog.

As said above, how long do you want to wait? Backlinks are like votes to your site so the sooner you get them, the sooner others will find you in the SEs. The idea is to get a few good "votes" from some higher ranking sites. Doesn't take as many as you think either. Quality is the key.

Now there are ways to get quality backlinks (and quality traffic, I might add) by basically writing some of your best content and submitting as a guest blogger on a high PR website in your niche or a complimentary niche. Basically what you are doing is setting up a sample table like they do at the local Costco or your grocery store. Put your good samples out there where folks are already reading and you will find that folks will want to check out your site that way. This isn't spammy - it's just good neighborly. You don't need hundreds or thousands of these types of links, either. Just a relatively few links from other high ranking sites will do the trick.

It does to most people who don't want to use automated crap.

But don't worry there is another way!

I'm afraid it will require hard work and time (as building anything worthwhile always does.

Just follow the article syndication method - look through the posts of this warrior - and the links she offers and it will all be explained.

If you don't want to do it yourself then just outsource it. Plenty of good B/L services around here... some of them very cheap for the value they provide.

I am learning how to build backlinks to increase my traffic, but you can get traffic naturally by writing quality content.

For example, I have a field trip site that gets around 1,000 visitors a month from direct traffic and search engine results. Last week was the first time I tried getting links to it. People just began linking to it naturally. Every new post brings in more search engine traffic.

I'm sure adding backlinks will increase my traffic, but it is possible to start getting visitors by simply adding good content.

P.S. I don't plan to ever mass create backlinks. My plan is to visit a related blog/site each day, contribute something meaningful to that site, and place a link in my profile or in the comment field.

good content + nothing else = walking to your destination.

I myself started a blog recently - on home refurbishment tips, ideas, etc. - that's related to my business. I wrote some articles which are quite good in my opinion . But there are so many articles about the same subject on the internet that I don't think there is a slightest chance of getting an article syndicated.

One member I know on here, does not build links. He adds content, content and more content. Because he is such an authority, sites naturally link out to him. And he gets found for many long tail keywords. He has thousands of pages of content and enjoys very high rankings and a great income.

So yes it is possible to get great traffic without building links.

But it would be very, very time consuming to get to that point and it may never happen if you don't have the right type of content.

    1. SEO = On site SEO + Off site SEO. With google panda update everything still remains the same as before except google is considering user reactions. It's not only links that are working anymore. They want links to be linked and over linked which basically comes from sharing. It means, you can't deny backlinking.

    2. People search with keywords. So, if you want to be found by searches, you must emphasize keywords while creating contents. Your keywords must be an integrated part of on site SEO.

    3. Advertisements are not permanent solutions. If you have a great site but doesn't convert well, advertisements might cause loss in business.

    4. Looks like you have a long term plan with the site of your passion. Very good. Just make sure you can hold up enthusiasm till you get success. Because these types of sites may take time to succeed. But the successes are stable.

I'll buck the trend here. I think the answer is yes. A lot of what people said above is true, of course, but I do think you can make it without building backlinks. If your content is good and you have included social bookmarking tools on your blog, other people will build backlinks for you and they will bookmark for you provided your work is really good quality.

    And good luck.

It's definitely possible. I started my site about 5 years ago, I think. It's in a relatively small niche, but it was something that I knew a lot about. At the time, I used Site Build It, which helped with keyword research and search engine optimization. Within a week of putting up the first page, I started to get a trickle of traffic from the search engines.

That traffic grew and grew and has since leveled off at around 300-700 hits per day.

I wrote a few articles for EZA, a few were syndicated, and I've had others link to my site from forums because the content is useful. I've hardly updated the site in years and haven't done anything to build my traffic. Aside from those few articles, I've done no "link building" -- certainly not anything like the profile links packages.

I think, though, that the key to this was that I chose a niche that really had no competition. If you were going for something bigger, then it might be a lot harder.

    Love,
    Shannon

If you build it will they come? Heck no they will not. You need to have unique relevant content plastered on related sites pointing back to yours in proper anchor text format. Search engine optimization is super difficult so I understand you not wanting to do backlinks. Sorry but either you buy software like: SEnuke, Xrumer, Bookmarking Demon, Article marketing robot and on and on or you do the backlinks yourself which is like walking when you can drive.

Try the guest blogging tactic it works well for getting traffic back to your site. You are going to have to do traffic generation.

It all stems back to your keyword research. When you have done due diligence in this area, you will be found. Finding golden nugget keywords will help you create content that has low competition but high traffic. When you can master this you will be well on your way.

There are no truly unique ideas that will build your traffic that have not been mentioned by the other warriors who have responded to this post. However, there are many different options for accomplishing each of the ideas presented here. Using contractors or employees to do the work you are not willing to do is one way.

Content creation, quality, useful content, is not easy to do. Building back links to your site takes time but allows you to be found. Syndicating your content and using article directories allow you to spread your wings and fly.

While no single path is better than the other, you must find the path that you enjoy and continue on a long term basis. Happy Building!

Backlinks aren't just about SEO. If you use them correctly, you'll get people coming to your site.

You can consider doing some guest blog posts in other established blogs within your niche. That can drive some hefty targeted traffic.
