Passive income with Adsense

I'm pretty new to IM, I'd love to make enough passive income (daily) to eventually quit my day job -- my one buddy makes about $70,000 a year off google adsense (has about 4 or 5 niche sites), and his buddy makes around $260,000 a year.

I saw this post in a recent thread and it seems like a pretty good idea.. I could survive making $180 a day..

"Hey Guys ,

There is lot of ways to make $10/Day but you really need to stick with a passive earning method, here is a method that i am using to make over $180/Day for FREE TRAFFIC.

1.Pick up a niche

2. Select a product in the niche

3. Create a "How to" Video on the chosen niche

4. Upload that to YouTube but use Tags that are used in the popular videos in that niche

5. Use your affiliate link in the description though don't forgot to insert a curious message at the end of the video , you can use like "Click the Link in the description to 'Your Niche' "

6. Rinse & Repeat

I just started a micro-niche site on getting rid of pimples, I used to have them so I'm pretty educated on the subject. I could make about 10 or so videos (I've written 10 articles), and link them back to my main website, and hopefully from there people will start clicking on the google ads.

Is that the right way to start generating decent income? I'm pretty new to all this so I wanna take in as much info as possible.

Well you'd want to see how hard the niche is + how many searches a month it gets. If its under 1,500 then your most likely wasting your time. Also do you have a EMD (exact match domain)? That will help in the rankings as well. Good luck on your adventure!

The keyword I'm targeting is low competition, has 27,000 global monthly searches and 10,000 local monthly searches.

My keyword is definitely in my domain so I suppose that helps. Do you think it'd be a waste of time, going for this acne / pimple niche?

I think the most important thing to do when it comes to Adsense is always diversify your revenue just in case. If you lose one revenue stream, then you can always use the other to fill in the losses.

I would be asking them for advice :-)

Dont just rely on one source of income though as its been mentioned before. Start off and master one method but be ready to find another way to make an income so that if one dries up your not skint :-)

Very nice idea to get passive income. However, I don't think it is possible to develop a niche website (on your own only) that would bring substantial income.
Here is why: usual conversion rate is 1%, cost of click - on average $1. You will need at least 100 visitors to earn $1. To earn $180 /day you will have to have at least 18000 visitors per day. Do you think that's possible with a niche market?

I think that the solution is by scaling the pages.

I've made 10 pages, 6 of them paid off themselves and I've sold them. 4 of them brought bigger profit.

I've chosen the top 2 and I'm scaling those 2 up and they are going great.

I think that some pages will blow out of proportions when given the extra time but you'll never know which one. Sometimes the keywords that seem the least profitable make you a lot of money.

All great responses, I appreciate the feedback.

I've talked to a couple people about IM, I was surprised when most were against Adsense.

"Product Creation, Affiliate Marketing, Advertising, or Lead Generation" is what he told me makes big cash. I'd love to tackle these areas, but I'm not sure where to start. Every time I google something like "affiliate marketing", it just takes me to sites where I have to pay for things.

Have yet to actually find a guide, on how to make money with those 4 things.

Definitely don't rely on Adsense income. You CAN make lots of money with Adsense BUT, it can also go away overnight through no fault of your own so anything I make with Adsense (even when it's a lot) I consider extra.

What would you consider your base income from IM? Both of my friends use Adsense, but I'm interested in other methods as well.

You should ask your buddies what their CTR is like on their ads?

Also are you just looking to drive traffic from Youtube and not Google?

      most were against Adsense.
Did they know what they were talking about? Many don't. Adsense is not quick money and it takes some upfront work. Some sites will do well and others won't - you take the best and scale them up. It's a method of earning that grows slowly but maintains well once it is profitable.

I agree to a point that you don't want only one source of income - but you have to get the first income generator started before moving to something else. If I were you I'd be talking to those two friends and asking their advice.

I've asked them both and they communicate things to me horribly. It's like they dont want to 'give away their secrets', so I get a lot of 'just make a site and get adsense' answers.

A good Adsense guide is Adsense 100k (Just google it - haven't tried it yet - just heard good things about it.) You can also look it up in the Product Review section here in WF.

There are many ways to skin a cat, i.e. there are many ways to make money online. You can do your research and decide the method that matches with your skills, time available and personality.

Whatever method you ultimately choose, do just that for a couple weeks or months until you see success or learn from your mistakes. Don't do the mistake that so many do - that is jumping from one shiny thing to another before really doing each.

          Good Luck
