1st Product (HELP) - What should mine be? What was yours and why?

I am going to start off with my first product and I am not sure what it should be. Does anyone have any suggestions on what my first product should be?

I am new to this so I was wondering what was your first product or what was one of your successful products you made that has been a seller? Also what gave you the idea to make it that first product of yours?

I would love to hear your story. I hope one day I will be helping other newbies out there as well.

Thanks guys,

Detour

Well there are many things to consider and ask...

Is it marketable? and to what specific large number of target group
    Is the profit margin good?
Will the product have recurring sales value?
Will it have high probability of future popularity?
Is there a real need for the product in today's market?
    Amount and quality of competition?
Would I buy it and use it myself?
Can I see myself getting excited about this product or service?
Would I sell it to someone I know?
Can I imagine myself selling this item for the next several...?

Know your product(s) and truly believe in the merchandise you are selling..

Agreed with Targeted Traffic above. DetourWarrior - I think its is irrelevant what their product is, and many people may not like to tell you.

But start noting ideas on a notepad and then assess each idea based on the tips given above. Remember - the hungrier the market is, the higher the conversion rate will be!

Well I am curious of what the product was is because I like to know thier thought process. On how it came about, why they picked it, what made them decide to do it, what gave them the idea, how it came and lead to the end result etc.

    Hi there DetourWarrior,

I went down the product creation route because I couldn't see myself blogging everyday.

I started to write just to get into the habit of creating content. Everyday.

From those writings, I tried my hand at turning them into videos and audios. Then came the screen casts. A product cover here or there and then I felt like I was ready to sell something I had created.

It was a rolling process for me at the start and I was getting feedback as I was publishing things in different places. The more you practice the more you polish your presentation skillz.

Some was bad and will never see the light of day but a lot has been good to great and I can use or modify those initial "good" products as bonus's, opt in gifts or buyer "surprises".

As long as I move forward towards my goals everyday, I am happy.

I am going to start off with my first product and I am not sure what it should be. Does anyone have any suggestions on what my first product should be?
As to what? your product should be is more down to you.

What do you know that you can teach?

How can you add value to the customers that would buy your products?

Just because the golfing niche is a massive market does not mean you are ready to create a product in that space.

Here is a process I use...

Brainstorm or mind map my knowledge, then I know where I'm at.

Look at the market in those areas to see what is selling well.

Create a framework for a product based on what I know and some basic competitor research.

Research the hell out of it, making sure you don't get stuck in the research stages.

    Then, go and create.

See how it goes and what your results are. You will know whether it is a product worthy to sell!

But make sure you get "eyeballs" on your creations, get feedback, improve and keep moving forward.

May I wish you the best of luck

    Baz

Your first product should be based on something about which you have extensive experience or knowledge. You need to be seen as an authority on the subject if people are going to take you seriously.

Obviously it also needs to be a product that people need, otherwise you're not going to generate any sales.

I'm happy to reveal that my first product was a set of manuals called Bum Marketing Mastery. When I wrote this, many years ago, bum marketing was a hot subject. It doesn't seem to be now!

So, first find a hot topic that you know a lot about, even if all you do is extensive research on it. You'll find selling is easier if you're enthusiastic about something because that enthusiasm will shine through when you are writing sales letters, blog posts and so on.

After your first product is out, the next will be easier, I promise. Taking that first step is always the most difficult.
