Hi, everyone! Newbie needs advice on PR3 website

Hello,

I've been working on my website for more than one year now. I have done twitter, facebook, blogging (about 25 articles) - for about 7 weeks, SEO, reciprocal linking - half a year. Although my website is now PR3 but that doesn't help me - I still get only approx. 10 organic search visitors per day. And it's been like that for half a year now - seems like I am stuck. I get almost no long tail keywords to my blog articles - they are original, written by me. Pls give any advice, cause I am starting to feel a little desperate.
The website I am talking about is in my signature. Thanks!!

Did you perform PPV or PPC testing on the keywords you are targetting beforehand to see if they would drive visitors to your site before attempting an SEO campaign on them?

How much content have you actually got on your page? and is the content unique?

If so you just simply need to widen your link building process and target more keywords.

Of course you need to make sure that your on-page search engine optimisation is good first.

Also have you tried local directory listings for your business?

Yes, I have tested the keywords - in the keyword tool. On the ppc I am using keywords with option for broad match, so this doesn't give a clear idea. Perhaps I should specify exact match for these keywords.
The content is unique. I have submitted my listing to many directories (which are not paid - was trying to avoid the costs, because that's the start of the business). I was wondering, perhaps I am stuck because on my website there are too many outgoing links (reciprocal links) - not on homepage, but linked from deeper pages.

First and must thing to start with a good SEO is the On Page optimization.
Firstly step is that you have to optimized all of your title tags, header, footer, image optimization, broken links, uploading speed of site and all.

Second quality link building.... as PR is directly based on the quality of sites and the number of hits. To increase more visitors on your site you need to make some classy blogs regularly that contains new info and user friendly too..... Social media plays an important part in getting more visits. Mouth publicity is also an another thing.

Changing the content of your site regularly : As nowadays it is seeing that spiders avoiding the old content on sites. You have to change your sites content regularly in every three-four month.

As making some quality videos and uploading them on some quality sites like youtube etc... also increases the popularity of site.

Just remember one thing if you want to be in search long time then you have to perform all activities slowly and steady.... Definitely slow link building and all other techniques will gives you benefit soon.

But before all that you need to make sure people are actually searching for the keywords you are targeting :-)

If its for the site in the sig of his site then 300 - 500 for a "small" business is not too bad especially in the building game in the UK at this time of year in a recession :-)

Yes, it's for that business (london builders). Surely I understand that this is a recession, worse time of a year than summer . But I see other competitor websites which are doing much better, although if I do any SEO tests on them and compare the results with mine - my website is much better looking.
I was doing reciprocal link exchange for the past year. Sometimes I perhaps did not pay too much attention to the websites quality that I was exchanging links with. So, my guess is (after quite a lot of work, not getting noticeable traffic increase), perhaps these links that I still have on my website (linked from 2nd, 3rd tier pages), making my website look suspicious to the search engines?

Absolutely.... Keyword research plays an important role..... You just have to find out what should be targeted or what not.... But in starting you have to go with long tail keywords coz they are easy to target... (if your domain is new)... otherwise go with a good key phrase and start doing work on it.

I spend a lot of time building websites for plasterers and builders so I understand this market like the back of my hand :-)

Have you looked at the keywords you are targeting?

Have done in depth analysis of your competitors?

If you head to Davlic Media - SEO Consultants - SEO Web Design - Search Engine Optimisers - and fill in the form that pops up I will put your site through my analysis software for you :-)

Once you do get more traffic, there are a number of things wrong on the site. For example one article started with ________ builders London. That's not how people talk, even if they search on 'builders London' so its fine for a tag not a title. Also none of the testimonials mention the name of your company (which makes it look like you are using some one else's testimonials).

Look at the number one sites in your field and see what they are doing.
