making money online versus offline?

I dont have much experience in IM at all, however i have brick and mortar stores, and my question is besides the commute and the usual 8-5 we typically all had to do, does making $ online easier than making money offline IN TERMS of hours spent only.

Im just curious if its alot harder to make a buck online cause it seems like you have to put alot of effort (hours of research etc...) to just make a few pennies on the dollar.

    Depends.

Do you have employees in your offline business? Online, this equates to outsourcing - which can cover almost all of what needs be done and can therefore require less hours for you.

yea, we do have sales employees however its a requirement for me to do less work and resort to just mostly management. Actually i just realized i opened a can of worms cause everyone has different pay grades and different $ expectations. So how about this question: Do u guys think its easier to make money online or offline overall?

Actually when I look at not having to spend money on a commute and other things related to B&M work, I came out making less than minimum wage. Working at home, I have virtually no overhead. The hours are much longer because I enjoy the work that I am doing and the work is done on my terms. I am working toward my own bottom line. I've been making a much better living at home.

interesting... so may i ask how many months or years did it took starting from knowing nothing about IM (like me) to finally start getting some decent results? or did it speed things up with this forum or WSO?

You just hit the nail on the head there that you enjoy the work that you are doing.
If you can take away the frustrations and overwhelm and just enjoy internet marketing its a real fun thing to do and make a living.
I used to be a chef (and was executive chef for a large London restaurant group at one point). When i first started doing Internet Marketing i couldn't understand why i could handle pressure and multi task in restaurants effortlessly and would struggle to do internet marketing.
The key turning point for me was when stopped trying to so multi tasking online (bad idea...too many distractions come up) and do one thing at a time then move non to the next.

First, one would have to know how much your offline stores are making you and then you'd have to find someone who is making about the same amount of money online and ask them how much time they spend running their business.

I know of guys who make $10K - $20K a month who work less than 20 hours a week.

There are people online who make over $100K a month too so the income potential is certainly there. As far as how much time it takes to achieve that type of success depends on the type of business model you decide to go with.

I'm in the same boat as nexus851. I know zero about IM and am interested in one of these "webinar" classes because I want to learn and be able to make a living to support my other passions. I was thinking of the Jamie Lewis' products, so if anyone has anything to say as far as recommending a place to start that would be awesome.

Also, and I hope this doesn't come off as out of line, but you hear all these crazy numbers of how much people are making and how soon they start making it. Can anyone give a real number? I know the crazy success stories is what sells these products, but I need some real information from real people who are doing this as a living. How much your 1st month? 3rd month? 6th month? 1 year? --- I find it hard to believe that everyone is making 5 to 6 figures a month.

    Thanks!

Absolutely, Making Money Online is Harder, but if you have the right mindset and would purely focus on one thing instead of juggling with New products and starting everyday with some new ideas.

    My recommendation
1.Select a niche where your interest is
2.Do what others are doing. but, do it in a better way.
    3.Follow through Take Action
    4.Learn from mistakes

also, i would recommend following Rich Scferen.. He's the best in it..

The thing is, IMHO, what appeals to you more and what you are good at. In my case, for example, I make money offline by teaching English (which I like) and interpreting, and I make money online doing translations and a dozen of other things belonging to the IM realm. I can easily switch to online or offline only as both my activities are well paid.

On the other hand, if you start from scratch, you should first answer one basic question: WHY? Why do I want to do just that? And if the answer is anything else than to "earn enough money to make a living and more" then you may just as well forget the idea. Nobody says that you can't combine your hobbies with your job, but is there a demand for that?

Then you must know what you are going to do to achieve your goal, how you are going to do it, i.e. simply have a good plan. If you have just a few vague ideas, you'll end up with nothing like many people before and after.

It is not the problem of offline or online, but the question of your goals, ways of achieving them and the best tools to reach them.

The same principles apply: demand - product - sale. You just need to get this as simple as possible, especially here with thousands of methods/systems advertised everyday.

    Keep it simple.

    Demand/Product/Sale.

    Nothing more.
