Best ways to drive traffic to an entertainment blog?

Warriors, what do you think are some of the best ways to drive targeted traffic to blogs that are more entertainment based? By this I mean they post things like entertainment photos, art, or even music?

I know with blogs with articles, article marketing can be big. But what about entertainment types of blogs?

Thoughts or ideas?

Why not throw in a juicey headline for a cool social media campaign? or maybe try PPC (eg. AdSense)... Anyway keep writing quality and unique content and don't forget of SEO (targeting keywords etc.), it will be much easier.

    Good luck!

Social media usually drives more traffic to any kind of entertainment website. They don't only drive traffic to entertainment blogs but they also make traffic viral. Check out following examples

    Facebook,
    - If someone likes or shares anything like video or webpage it appears to every friend in his/her list.
    - If someone becomes fan every new entry in fan page section appears on fans wall and facebook feed of a user.
    - If any of his/her friend likes, shares or becomes fan above process repeats it self.

    Stumble Upon
    - Stumble Upon is one of the most viral traffic generation social media available since positive or negative reviews makes content fall in view rotation cycle delivering thousands of visitors in record time.

    Twitter
    - Since everyone knows how Twitter works I don't think I have to explain anything.

To market product, webpages, audio or video on Social Media you need proper training, unless you train yourself with social media traffic generation, expect no results from any campaign. Also social media might sometimes prove slower in traffic generation but you should not give up. Lastly youtube can also help in driving traffic to entertainment based blogs or websites.

You can try Youtube videos. Lets say your doing a post on Justin Bieber. Just create a video with his latest song and add the lyrics and add a link in the description box. If you look up any song with its lyrics you can see they get MILLIONS of hits! That's a lot of potential traffic.

Just be sure to add a call to action at the end of the video - "To see the latest photos, gossip, and music on Justin Bieber just head over to www.(your url).com"

Keep people updated with some unique photos and videos. Videos rank really well on search engines. Then you can subscribe to tubemogul.com. Its a site that automatically shares 1 video to 24 different sites for free. My suggestion is to take the video blog route. Best way to entertain people is through videos.

I think that there are some free ways that will surely help you more than social media (I think that you should first have at least 500+ friends and a page with AT LEAST 5k fans in order to get about 200-300 visitors per post) // Which is very hard in the beginning . So I would suggest this:

Add unique content at least once a day, ping it, you can also try SU and twtitter (but with not so big result ) // And of course, don't forget to use <h> and <b> tags. After a blogpost, of course you should PING it

Follow these steps and I am sure you will triple* your visitors

    Entertainment = social media.

Find other entertainment groups and pages on Facebook; talk to the admins, make friends with them and ask to promote your website.

There are millions of entertainment websites and blogs and people usually don't want to pay for entertainment, unless it's about some very passionate hobby or something.

Might be too difficult to rank nicely with a new entertainment site...

you need to commment on other highly ranked / traffic blogs in the same niche. Do not spam, just give feedback, have fun and add to the blog post and people will visit your site.

I paid 2 assistants $1.11 & $1.33 an hour to post valid comments on a popular video site that gets millions of hits per day.

Their comment system uses Disqus which allows you to create an attention grabbing name and in the description, put something that piggy backs off that.

Once the viewer puts 1 and 2 together, they go to the page...

    Example of what I do:
(keyword link) X Celeb News : <= How she got arrested (my description)

This got me 1300 hits in one day.. and it only cost me like 7 buck for the first week.

    Hope this helps

    Youtube of cause!

Youtube is the largest entertainment site. If you add it to social media it should drive traffic to your blog.

But I agree with one of the posters that entertainment niche is difficult to rank.

    All the best.

    To add...
Re-design your existing site to the best of your ability. Use pure CSS, graphics, color and layout that mesh well and make it not only easy to use your site, but aesthetically remarkable, too.The design portals themselves can send 1-2 thousand uniques per day if you make their front pages, but the additional value you'll get from other bloggers and sites picking you up once you make it there is also worthwhile.

I'd suggest social bookmarking, too. But at the same time, setting up a matching FB fan page and directing some FB ads to it can also be very helpful.

Look how many people suggest social media here... There must be something in it

In my own personal experience I have found best source of traffic to my Blog is via Twitter. I have a New Forest Blog and a New Forest Twitter account with over 2,500 followers and growing. I also used my SEO skills to get some good #1 positions in Google and am now realising over 40,000 page views per month. Might add, it has taken a year to achieve but well worth the wait and effort.

Wishing you future success with your entertainment blog.

Writing unique stories or articles for entertainment blog is a great way of driving more traffics to your websites. Plus, share it in social networking platforms and link to authority sites.

I would go for Facebook first as this is a great way to help funny videos and images to go viral. I would make sure to set up my social graph things properly so you get a nice picture and headline when people like or share your content.

Check out MaxFBSeo in the WSO section (google it) to learn more about this.

The other social media sites would probably also help a lot in terms of traffic, so I would make sure to build some followings around the different places. Make sure to watch your Analytics stats for undiscovered social comunities who might like your content.

I am not sure Google SEO is the right path though, so I would go for attention grabbing headlines instead of keyword headlines.

Well... if you look at popular entertainment blogs, a big key is that they talk about what's on people's minds... what people are actively searching for at the moment.

For instance, if you have a blog about celebrities, then you might come-out with a strong take on a recent news event. If your blog is about music, then you might give a controversial review of a new album.

In other words... feed into the entertainment people are currently consuming to make getting links... getting search traffic... and getting results from sites like Stumble Upon easier.

I'd definetly put social media in the mix. Maybe find other entertainment blogs and email the owners about advertising space. If you decide to go the social media route make sure to engage people with various contests and etc to get more followers.

Also, perhaps some already established entertainment blogs might have lists so maybe work out an email or 2 to go out on your behalf promoting the blog. There are tons of ways and and I can keep listing but social media is probably number 1.

When many of you say social media, does this include things like StumbleUpon as well? Is it a bad thing to submit your own posts in hope of getting some traffic?

having run an entertainment blog and driving some pretty good traffic to it before I stopped from a sheer lack of time, twitter, time, and exclusives are your best friend, the most important being exclusives. Even if you are one of the first to have a new song or new celebrity news, with that a a few twitter followers you can really start to build quickly.

surely social networking works. Before posting into your fan pages or twitter account you must concentrate on your content. That only helps you to keep pulled traffic stable and revisit your site.

SEO is important for every content. Focus on what you want to tell about a event or celebrity and make it more interesting to read. Give some internal links with in the content which leads your visitor to visit your site next pages.

OP, If i were you i would target youtube videos involving the entertainers your blog covers.

    Think about it.

You would be getting targeted traffic from people who would normally be interested in the content you are sharing.

This is how you should think: you should focus on a direct connection between your subject matter and interest it covers.

This is not really rocket science.

You just need to put in the time and work to look up the relevant content on youtube and post comments.

To make sure that you are getting only the most interested people i would suggest that you don't post links instead direct them to do a search for a keyword that your blog it is sure to rank for this not only improves your SEO by increasing click and search volume you also filter out people who are not really all that interested

    I hope this helps

Don't even bother buying traffic at first. First step is to pile up quality content based on the trending topics and make sure you integrate social media plugs on your posts. If you are delivering quality content to your audience you will see the affects of viral traffic. So yes no need to purchase any sort of traffic if you can deliver quality content.
