Using Affiliate management script? Commission release after 'n' days is better than 'n' amount ...

In some of the affiliate programs, I have joined has the rule that the minimum payout level is $100.00. These accounts have amounts like $29.00 - 70.00. Since when? more than 3 months. They won't release because of it has not reached the payout level.

Slowly I am even forgetting about these amounts. Total of $314.00.

Recently I logged in to one of my affiliate accounts $79.00 gone back to $39.50. Sent an email. No response.

So Webmasters who are using inhouse affiliate management script! please set your payout levels 'after n days' rather than 'n amount'.

Enough of rant. (But I don't think it is $314.00 worth)

Yep, I've seen some really high min payout requirements which is not a problem if they convert well and you want to keep sending traffic in which case you should hit the payout amount shortly.

Or in the event you are really not happy with their conversions and don't want to continue, you can usually just contact them and ask them to close your account and send your check.

Do you really think they will do that? No. (Or is there any rule like this? When we close account they should send check no matter the amount) I didn't even get a response from one merchant. Once I receive the check, I will no longer promote them.

I like to give my affiliates low payout amounts. I usually set it for the minimum commission amount of one sale. So if I have a $100 product and the commission they get paid is $50 per sale then I will set the payout at $50 bucks.

You see, if they are receiving money, even if it's $10 bucks, they are more likely to be excited about it and believe it is possible to make money by selling my products and thus promote it more.

Yeah, it creates a little more work for me but I remember what it was getting a small commission and having to wait for the large payout amount to be reached. It sucks. It usually makes people give up before they reach that amount.

I think when they jack up their payout amount they are either hoping that you will give up so they can keep the money or they just don't want to have to do all of the work required to pay their affiliates for such a small amount.

Like I said, It helps my business and it helps to motivate my affiliates if I have a low payout. So, everyone wins. I don't understand why some of these people have not figured that out yet.

Exactly, my point. You put it in a better way

Little encouragement goes long way. Merchants should know it.

I have done this and I have received payment.

I don't think any legitimate business will want to keep the money you've earned if you are no longer in a working business relationship.

    Good luck with it

Yes. I do have a choice, but no knowledge that they wll behave like this before joing in to their affiliate programs.

All I am expecting/saying is merchants should release commission to promoting affiliates. It further encourages the affiliates to promote them more ...

    @David:

This reply is not really helping in my opinion. It seems like an ad for RAP. This is not the first ad for RAP you've posted to the WF containing your affiliate link.

Now, if it's okay to do that, then fine (and apologies for posting this). I'm not entirely sure of the rules on this point, to be honest.

    Allen?

From: Allen in Warrior Forum Rules:

    (5) No Affiliate Links Allowed - Promote Your Own Domain/s Only. It's either this or we have to cut out sig files altogether which we do not want to do.
I've long been curious about this point. If it applies to sig files, then surely it applies to posts, too, no?

Allen? Or Mods? ... What's the deal here?

Oh, and please don't misinterpret this post as a personal attack; it's not. I use your VDT software (which I recommend, by the way, folks. It has a few quirks, but once you know what they are, it works really, really well for viral, rebrandable reports that will help your affiliates make more moolah -- which, in turn, will get them over the payment threshold Radhika is talking about) and we've corresponded by email before. You sound like a really nice bloke. And you've always answered my questions in a timely, professional, and friendly way.

But I'd really like to know if dropping affiliate links into posts is:

    (a) allowed on the WF

    and

    (b) in the spirit of it all.

I've had this issue on other marketing forums. I try my best not to drop my affiliate link into my posts in the spirit of sharing unbiased information. Yet others don't.

Seems like I'm always shooting myself in the foot on that point.

I may have done so on this forum and others. In fact, I probably have. But I try not to; it doesn't make me feel right for some ridiculous do-gooding , bank-account-unfilling-up reason!

@Radhika: Sorry to possibly hijack the thread. Not my intention.

Let's get back to talking about Affiliate Programs that don't pay out and then eat away at your fees.

Surely this stuff is in their TOS, no?

Anyone read this stuff before signing up?

I read TOS and signed up. Learned my lesson. So from next time, I'd be careful to get into instant commission or programs with 'n day' release.

After reading this post if some marchants change their attitude and payout level, your affiliates would be happy as ever.
