How To Get The Demographics Behind A Search Term??

So Me and a new partner of mine will be starting a new site next month. One method we use to value the information that the market is craving is to go to the google keyword tool and take note of the monthly search totals for certain keywords.

Is there a way that I could find out some information on the people who might have been searching for those terms?

such as the average age, their careers, location, etc, etc???

(The reason i ask is because our keywords target two groups in general..but behind the scenes it could be one of the two groups who are really searching for the keywords and we dont want to target the wrong group with our content and approach.)

Why not experiment in Facebook Ads?

You will be able to sort by demographics and get the numbers you need.

You won't be able to find out the demographic of people who actually punch search terms into Google. I mean how could you?

With so many families sharing computers you wouldn't have any clear info about who actually punches in the search term whether it be the dad, the mum, the son, or the daughter. No way to know.

Go to Google and search your term(s), make note of position 1, 2, and 3.

Do the same for Yahoo and Bing.

Take the sites url's that you have found and run them through Home | Quantcast

There ya go, you'll find the demographics for the niche and a lot more. Actually, you can create a complete marketing plan across different platforms.

Have you tried using Google Insights? It will give you some good demographics that compliment the demographics from quantcast. Just go to Google Insights and type in your search terms.
