Is there a way to shut down those blackhat forums spreading my products for free?

Hi, I've been noticing a good number of torrent sites that shares, reproduce, and exploit my products to thousands of users. How can I protect my products for these kinds? I have a copyright written on every products though but they keep on reproducing it for free.

It's absurd to sell something that they can get for free, my sales had been affected by these. I tried to talk to some webmasters of these sites but they always have an excuse. Hate those torrent sites. Full of BS in my opinion.

Need your suggestions and tips my fellow warriors.

cheers,

John

Most people downloading it for free weren't potential customers.

Put links that come back to your sites and/or
affiliate links. You certainly have some conversion

That is a great idea!! I hadn't thought of that. It is a major pain in the butt and you would think there would be some way to stop it

Cool, a good idea. Though what if they start buying my product once then resell it again? I mean, there are number of people that can re-upload my products.

Can you give me a more detailed explanation? Thanks a lot! I really appreciated it

I think they mean to include a link back to your site as well as some affiliate links to related products inside your own product so you have a chance of making money off of those who pirate yours.

Even if they don't buy your product maybe they will buy a different product through your affiliate links or they will go to your site, sign up for your list, and buy something later.

Not very likely. Black hat members are bottom feeders ...freebie seekers. Their a lot more likely to put in a request on the forum for any other products you have that they want. I personally wouldn't want them to know my site link or other products.

True and not true. Believe it or not, if they think your product isn't crap, they actually will go and buy some of your other stuff if you leave links to all your other products at the end of it. Typical "impulse" I want it now syndrome and the don't want to wait for someone else to share it. Yea, they might share that one once they buy it, but who cares. It's going to happen, so be smart and put a bunch of different links to optin pages that you have and get as many people on the list as you can. You'd be surprised how many sales and optins you'll get. Some of these things have been downloaded 2K times or more and that's 2K more people that probably wouldn't have paid for it anyway, but will either optin through one of the links or will buy something else.

Hit the filesharing sites with a DMCA notice. Most of them will remove the link. The black hat sites won't stop sharing, but the file sharing sites themselves comply with DMCAs. Only thing is, you have to keep doing it because they will reupload it.

I closed my WSO when it got to the BH forums. Why? Conversions fell down to 1% :/

But I must admit. I too have used torrents to get an ebook or two so this is just the way it is. I guess you don't realize how piracy can affect people until it affects you.

Go visit Jeremy Schoemaker at ShoeMoney.com since he's
sued some people in court when they wouldn't pay attention

Or see Brad Gosse new WSO for Content Primer. It's a cool
new way to prevent "unauthorized distribution" of your content
while allowing you to take it back if they request a refund.

I am NOT affiliated with either of the guys or promoting for

    As for BH forums, yes:

Sign up on the forums...most (not all) have a "do not share" list...products of members are usually not shared. If you are a "respected" member in those forums, they wont share your stuff.

But..in general...there is no way to stop the sharing...there will always be some other forum or torrent site etc. where Hashif and Muhammed are happy to get stuff for free. But as said above....those people are unlikely to become real customers anyway.

Only thing is, you have to keep doing it because they will reupload it.
Yes of course. So..hire a few people who work 24/7 taking your links down. /sarcasm

What i am saying..it's not worth it...take one down, two more will pop up. It's just how it is, same with serial refunds, flippa scammers etc.

Remember, if your product is good, it is going to be shared - you can not stop it.

What you can do instead is include a page in your new products stating your new product is going to be there only for your list and encourage them to opt in.

As far as brad gosse's product is concerned, i have seen similar products earlier also and they were shared also. What the guy did was, he created a video and screenshot version of the ebook and then distributed it.

Microsoft did very well with windows, even though piracy rates are sky rocket high.

I remember Bill Gates being asked why he lets the piracy happen in China and doesn't do much about it.

He said something along the lines of, it's free advertising.

Don't remember exactly where it came from, but basically, Windows is used by what is it, 90% of computers, and the piracy helped spread windows faster.

      --

One great tactic to prevent piracy, is to upload a product yourself.

The product will likely be a summary, a part of the book or a marketing piece describing your product.

You'd name the file exactly what people would google for, the name of the product or search on these websites, and it may spread, make sales, or just confuse people trying to pirate your stuff.

      --

Some people never buy products and download it for free.

      They are not potential customers.

Some folks might download a song, and buy the whole CD from the artist.

Piracy can get you customers, if you make something which is difficult to pirate, like a $1997 coaching course that doesn't allow anyone to download files until after the return period, these same folks who download your $47 ebook might want to buy your big product because your smaller one helped them a lot.

Just had some success on the pirate file sharing front. I discovered an EBook i sell was on a major file sharing site. They have a "Copyright Infringement" process, but after I emailed them a few times and got no response, I contacted Google and submitted an Infringement Notice. I had to tell them where the pirate copy was and a bunch of other stuff to identify myself and verify ownership and a week later I heard from Google saying the offending webpage would be taken down in a few hours. I checked and it had been. Good Stuff!

Great ... some people never go the DMCA route ... maybe they're too lazy to send it. Don't know, but I do know it works. If the hosting site doesn't respond, Google will.

I know it sounds lame and stupid, but. How to contact Google? I mean, should i directly go to their customer support? or hotline? or is there a specific person i need to talk with?

        Cheers,

        Thanks.

Google can't take the site down. De-index it maybe.
I don't see why the would take it down for you when I can use google to find for free the latest cd's and movie's.

with 226 million broad global monthly searches for the word torrent. Why would they want to lose so many customers?

I just filed a complaint against the site. I think it's under DMCA. It's worth a shot considering the money that I've lost due to copyright infringement.

Yeah, I already did that. But there are some BH sites that just wont go down. I mean I've sent 3 e-mails to them requesting for my content to be removed but still no signs, replies or even acknowledgement of my request.

Some sites considered my request though. It's just this ONE remaining site that didn't complied with my request. It's such a pain in the A** considering the loss I'm experiencing due to piracy.

The only thing you can do is to get them remove the links, but when it is a torrent it spreads like a virus when it gets out it gets out.
Because every country don't have the same policies.
Here are some Big companies that has tried to work against a Torrent website, look it through read some of it - then decide what you are able to do about it.
The best thing to do is like some mention to put your links to get some potential costumers, because it is likely the people stealing your product wouldn't be your costumer anyway.
    Good luck fighting piracy.

File sharing is and will always be a part of virtually anything online, it was said best above, if the movie and music industry can't stop it we certainly won't. Your mission should be to figure out the best way to capitalize on your products being shared, lots of links, use your name or the business name in the product often and I'm sure there is a hundred other ways as well.

If your product is a pdf, you can stamp it. DeliverMyFiles will do this to your product free of charge.

When you find it being shared illegally, you can see which purchaser did the initial sharing that way and scare the living poo out of them. Maybe they will think twice in the future.
