[SINCERELY NEEDED] Dating / Relationship Forums

Dear warriors,

I've a friend who's own an online dating site.

However, she's having poor traffic and she wish to boost up her traffic.
Her content is fine there but there's a very low numbers of unique visitors to come.

She hope to get more traffic and I suggest her to use forum.

However, I noticed a lot of relationship / dating forums actually not allow users to post links in signatures or even threads/posts.

Therefore, I'm sincerely hoping any senior member who has experienced or have any idea on what she should do, please reply here.

Be much appreciate on this.

      Hi Nrupen,

      Thanks for this.

She's actually do applied this but the result isn't that good. Is there any other methods that you recommend? Or any warriors do?

I've had really bad luck finding forums in this niche that are both popular and allow sig links. Been trying for some time since it is one of my favorite ways to get traffic, but no luck.

Facebook is an obvious choice, as is Twitter.
Contact local real dating agencies and tell them to tell their members about it.
Place classified ads on Gumtree and craigslist and other similar sites.

Facebook does work well. Look for fanpages in your niche and many will have a message board. Just find really popular dating niche ones.

I've always liked forums better but when you can't find any, Facebook also works well.

A couple things come to mind reading this thread.....please don't take them harshly.

First, why other methods INSTEAD of Facebook, etc? Why not along with? You and your friend shouldn't expect any one method to be the answer. Plan for it to take a combination of methods to drive traffic.

Second, (which was really my first thought ) I know you're trying to help a friend, but is your friend taking 'ownership of the traffic problem' and trying to solve it? Or is she more or less just hoping for traffic?

Third, dating/relationship sites can face some tough, established competition. Doesn't mean not to try entering the niche, but it does mean to be prepared to put in a lot of focused effort (along with some $$$) to move up in the rankings.

Fourth, has your friend been analyzing her stats? For the limited traffic she's seeing, does she know where it is coming from? If from search engines, is she keeping track of the search terms used and putting additional SEO effort on them?

Fifth, article marketing should not be a once or twice type effort. You say she tried it but wasn't successful. Was her intent to get visitors that clicked through from the articles or use the articles to gain backlinks to boost search engine rankings (or both)? Either way, one or two articles won't add much to the mix. And it takes time for articles to be picked up and used by other sites to have the links back to her site spread around the 'net.

Sixth, well, there is no number 6. (Any Monty Python fans reading along?)

Seventh, you haven't said how long your friend has been working on the site, but expect it to take time to gain decent ranking and generate consistent traffic.

        Remember: TIME and EFFORT.

        Peace
