I have a question for you experts out there about some strange serp movements I had this past week on one of my Amazon sites.

The site is about 10 months old with 7 review pages on it. During the first few months my backlinking for the site consisted of web 2.0's, article marketing, social bookmarking and some blog commenting. The site did start to rank around month 2 and I made some sales and then it slipped in the serps with most pages siting anywhere form page 4 to 20 and a couple around page 50.

I hadn't done much with the site since then as I have been busy but I recently decided to come back to it and try adding some contextual backlinks using blog networks. I added one fresh review to the site on Nov 7 and then ordered 25 articles from my writer to be used for backlinking with AR and ALN. Also ordered 100 BMR posts to be written.

On Nov 9 I added 4 articles to AR (decided to us AR only for the first few weeks to test it out by itself). Each article has one keyword link to the homepage and a link to two different review posts. The post keywords are spun with 5 to 7 versions of their keyword. The keyword for the homepage isn't spun but each article has a different keyword. I then changed the main keywords on my homepage and review posts to match the anchor text keywords I am using for backlinking. This lowered the keyword density for my main keyword on each page to around 1% or less but added more LSI type keywords. I have never tried this before so I thought I would test it out.

On Nov 10 I woke up to check my stats and the first thing I noticed was I had some traffic to the site. I then checked my rankings and to my surprise all my review pages where in the top ten for their keyword and my homepage was in the top 30 for all three of its keywords. I then checked AR to discover that no posts had been made yet so the serp movement must be because of the slight keyword changes I made on all my pages.

From Nov 10 to Nov 15 all the rankings held and I was getting some nice traffic for all kinds of long and short tail keywords, made a few sales. The AR posts from the first 4 articles started to drip feed in and I added four more posts on Nov 12 and then again on Nov 14. All the AR posts are well spun but I did use the auto spin feature on TBS (I wanted to test autospun articles vs manually spun on a different review site I have to see if there is a difference in ranking changes).

On Nov 16 I checked my stats and noticed no traffic. Then checked my ranking and all the pages have dropped down to their previous rankings. I am confused why this may have happened. I have experienced the google dance many times before but never on every page of a website at the same time. Maybe it is worn off QDF factor from the content changes I made. Or maybe it is a google penalty for the AR posts being added to fast or for the autospun articles I really don't know. Any input would be appreciated.

My plan is to carry on with AR and ALN posts and then start to drip feed the BMR posts and see what happens.

Thanks

Greg
