Cheap Articles - Is This Fair Or Unfair?

Warriors,

Is it fair that people pay article writers just a few dollars for
articles? I know lots of fellow warriors who buy low quality
articles for just a few dollars each to build sites or for article
marketing.

Is it really worth it?

See, cheap article writers can be useful IMHO. And that few dollars
an article to a writer in India can be a good income. The problem
with these article writers seems to be that the quality of their
writing is generally terrible.

Can you really build a solid sustainable business with low quality
articles? I think not.

Personally I believe that to receive (money in this case) you have
to give value first (in the form of quality content).

Warriors, I would like your thoughts on this.

Kind Regards
Phil Jones

If you get terrible articles at a cheap rate and use these articles on your site, what does that say about your site? Visitors won't hang around long. . . which means you probably won't generate many sales.

People want good, interesting information. That's not to say that it has to be perfectly written, but terrible spelling and grammar leave a bad impression with your visitors, as well as colleagues and competitors who see your site.

I believe paying a reasonable rate for unique, high quality articles is the best road to take. You really don't have to pay $20 or $25 for a well written article that will draw visitors to your site.

    Just MHO

That's very true! I agree 100% with what you are saying here.

Tina, if you thought Walmart employees (and suppliers) were treated like slaves working for a few dollars an hour would you still shop there at all?

This is a very interesting topic and there are clearly two sides to this. It's good to place the opions of both parties side-by-side to compare for sure!

Voluntarily working at a low-paying job isn't slavery. So, unless Walmart is buying people from slave traders and chaining them to their cash registers where they can only dream of freedom, they aren't being treated like slaves, are they? To imply that they are demeans those who actually have been subjected to the brutality of slavery. The same goes for article writers who CHOOSE to offer their services at a low price.

Now, if either party actually WERE being treated like slaves, I'm sure no one here would approve. But that's not what's happening, making your question ridiculous.

Places where I use cheap articles, spun PLR's or generated articles aren't places I want people hanging around soaking up the atmosphere.

That's what Wikipedia is for. I'm not giving away interesting information for the casual surfer. I'm selling something. I want good ad copy that moves an interested buyer toward making a purchase but I don't need anything beyond that in most cases.

It may (or may not) be an interesting topic, but it's one that will eventually resolve nothing. In fact, there was a long, drawn out, keep beating that dead horse thread on this very subject that apparently has been recently deleted. I mean, a multi-page (4? 5? 6?) page thread that kept mercifully dying then being unfortunately resurrected even though there was nothing new to add.

People will pay what they will pay. Others will work for what they're willing to work for. Those buyers and sellers will intersect at the points that are right for them.

What's love - um, I mean your subjective notion of fairness - got to do with it?

Yeah, I agree with what was said. Cheap Articles can be useful if you need something quickly and something to upload as soon as possible. I think it just comes down to quality in the end though.

If anybody's interested, here's a few general tips for quality article writing for your website:

First make a list of keywords that's the same keywords you use in your main website.

And each day choose one or more keywords and write at least 5 articles on those key words. When you've finished your article, publish this article "not all together, two at a time" to your blog first, then to article directories.
Use some article submitter software, not full automatic. Use your time effectively. You'll need to do other thing.
Write your own content with your own words.
Write niche targeted and keywords rich articles.
Know to whom you are writing, who will probably read your article.
Read articles in the same subject like yours. And write down a note about it your opinion; these notes will be great content for writing.
Write fast, work hard in the first year and you will enjoy it for life.
Read only one more time, to change. The best writing will be the first.
Article can be 400-750 words long. When you need to add more write a new one as a series. Hope this helps!

You have to keep in mind that not everybody lives in the States! Let's use the example of a writer who charges a cent per word. A 300 word article would cost $3. That money will buy you coffee and a muffin in North America. You have to think about what that money means to somebody living in Romania, India, etc. What is the median household income here as opposed to there?

As long as you pick the right writer, then its a win-win. They get paid a much higher monthly income than their national average and you get very cheap articles.

@CurtisN: Exactly. It depends where you live. Cheap to me is not necessarily cheap to someone in a 3rd world country. Interesting fact: If you make $25,000/yr. you are in the top 10% of the worlds population in regards to income.

EEEWWWWW, not this topic again. I have to say the timing is really weird. I just saw a thread on DP where a guy was hiring people for $0.008/word (no, that's not a typo) and people were posting that they were willing to write for him for $0.006/word! Here's the great thing about truly horrible writing. For adsense, people hate the content and go and click on the ads to get away from the site! Conversions are pretty good, in fact. I accidentally discovered this when I uploaded one of my writer's set of articles without proofing.
