Making a monthly membership site

INTERNET MARKETING

What are the best options for building a monthly membership site where members get access to new content each month?

I want the first month to be free then months two onwards to be a certain price per month. Each month a new module will be revealed.

I look forward to replies.

Personally I would use wish list.

Yes there are some that are cheaper but in the membership site category you tend to get what you pay for and changing over later is very painful when the cheap one you bought stinks.

Winsoar,

I use wishlist member to protect my membership site and optimize press as the wp theme.

This allows me to protect content, drip feed content and anything I would want in terms of delivery.

In terms of payment processing if you want to offer a free trial it means that you cannot use clickbank (They only offer $1 and $4.95 trials) so it would have to be paypal or another payment processor....

I prefer to use clickbank because it makes life simpler since they deal with everything in terms of affiliates etc

  I give our clients a big tip. You can use optimise press site in wordpress, that is the easiest, and they look fantastic.

  The thing is that membership sites are so easy to run and manage and no many people realise this.
  
  Would you rather have 1 person pay you $100, or have them pay $10 a month for 30 months. Well I would rather have the latter....and after all our testing, membership sites bring in boat loads of money for us, no matter where we are or what we are doing, and maintenance is not really that much either.
  
  Continuity sites like this are underestimated by many people, and all the newbies out there.

WishList would be best for membership site.

But about the Template. Its optional. You can use any theme and you membership site will still run.

I agree that Wish List is one of the easiest and most comprehensive out there. Robert Plank and Lance Tamashiro also have a product out there called WPDrip that you use on your mebership site that will allow you to create content in advance and drip it out when you want it to.

This saves me a bunch of time, I do not have to schedule to schedule

My JV partner and I looked at WishList and also DAP. We decided on DAP because it was apparently easier to integrate into WSOPro. We'll see how well it works out.

  For the $1 trial at Clickbank you will need to ask clickbank to set it up for you.
  
  In normal accounts the lowest you can offer is $4.95 trial....however if you ask they will activate the $1 option for you....

You could also use Mediapass. They dont charge you anything accept a percentage off the top. check them out.

Joomla is a great source for creating membership sites. It may not be as easy as "membership site" software though.

What payment system do you want to use?
Will the content be available in the month they join, or past content also available?
Will you be dripping content depending on the time since they joined?
You need an affiliate program? Want it built in or 3rd party?

Too many open questions for a one size fits all answer.
