Host Gator Alternative???

I know there are alot of other ones out there, but I just wanted some opinions on some other ones. Although I know most people go with host gator. I was looking for a better monthly deal for unlimited domains, but still reliable.

If you're wanting to pay on a monthly basis then you may run into some problems because a lot of the bigger hosting providers have moved away from letting you pay on a monthly basis. Besides HostGator I have tried DreamHost, BlueHost, and GreenGeeks but none of them were as good as HostGator.

Have a look at some of the hosting alternatives posted here on Warrior, there are some great deals and the reviews are good too. The offers are for WF members only so the prices really can't be beaten.

Bite the bullet m8. Hostgator are second to none. Their live 24/7 customer service is priceless. They do state in the terms that they will only help with certain things but they tend to ignore that when you are talking to them live by phone or chat.

Search all the forums and you will be hard pressed to find any complaints about the service and that is rare these days with large international companies.

I use 2 hosts, 1 is IX hosting, but I really hate them, they are slow and their servers are constantly down... but it works well because you can host an unlimited(maybe not unlimited but, it's a lot) amount of sites for like $70 per year, most of my WIP sites are hosted there. WHen a site starts getting some traffic and making me money, I take it over to ICDsoft hosting... one of the best hosting providers that I've ever encountered, their email servers are kind of weak though...

I have used IX hosting for a few years and I think they have the best customer support ever but I have to agree with you that their servers are always down or down too many times for too long, so I gave up and went with Host Gator and I'm pretty happy with them. Customer support by mail is good but talking to them on the phone, most of the time I do not understand the accent... but good prices and up 99%-100%.

Unlimited domains for $25 a month with HG - it's a great deal. If you have multiple sites and think $25 is high to host them all, something is skewed.

Put 25 sites on one reseller account at Hostgator and you have sites hosted for $1 each. What more could you ask?

Does anyone know why CNET chose inmotion hosting as best hosting ever? Is it really that good or is it just because they pay huge affiliate fees to CNET?

I know it might seem counter-intuitive especially when money is a big factor but I would really advise against moving your hosting from hostgator for that reason alone.

The simple fact is Hostgator is really that good. I agree with many of the posts above, for support and simple up time they have you covered. If you are doing any sort of business online you really need to make sure your basics are solid and skimping and saving on hosting in my view is not an area you should be looking to make cost savings. Instead cut out a subscription to a costly service or make savings in other areas in order to maintain your hosting with what arguably is one of the best around.

That is just my feeling, and I am not affiliated in any way with Hostgator but simply have used their services since 2008 and I have not had single problem unlike several other hosts that I have used alongside since that time. Hope that helps and good luck with whatever decision you eventually make.

Just don't ask for a refund from them.

Had a horrendous experience with them. I noticed a mistake in my domain name and asked for refund. The owner said we don't refund domain names. I said your TOS says you offer full refunds without questions, with no mention of it excluding domain names. He changed the TOS, banned my ip address so I couldn't even use login to hostwinds and manage a domain I paid for.

btw, hawkhost.com (not unlimited..but great! you can go to froghost for unlimited hosting --they're in the same company) and webfaction.com (no cpanel but I like their 256mb dedicated RAM)

I wish there was one. Most low cost vendors are not reliable companies. I will probably re sign up as a reseller next year. Problem is HG is S-L-O-W and it is getting worse. OK as they say, you get that for which you pay.

Web hosting is the backbone/foundation of your entire business. Why try to skimp and save a few bucks a month? You definitely waste tons of time and will be extremely frustrated if you go with a cheap host with no support.

Hostgator may not be the best answer for you, but definitely find a host with reliability and support first, then consider price.

I had to learn the hard way. You should learn from other people's experience.

Compared with a few years ago, I find that most posts are quite good. in a shared hosting platform most post all for a similar level of service. they will respond to your support ticket and will offer online chat. they will have a similar level of resources such as disk space and bandwidth. however, if you are running a mission critical website you should plan to get a dedicated or simi dedicated server. some companies to offer dedicated frequently offer a very high level of support in which you have access to high level personnel and rapid response times.

I've seen this complaint a couple times and wonder what I'm missing. I have multiple html sites on HG accounts and they load quickly. Makes me wonder if the problem is with blogs and multiple plug-ins rather than the hosting.

That's the only thing I can think of that would account for it when other sites seem load fast when hosted with HG.

Being On HostGator, you will never think twice of any issue, these guys are pretty good and experienced, they helped me sort my database problems on a large autoblog, they even helped me edit some files, drasticlly improving the site load performance, I am on BabyCroc and host around 40 websites, plan to add more, never had a problem, no downtime since I joined two months ago, chuck the price factor out of the window... level of satisfaction... Priceless with HostGator staff... Its awesome.

I would recomend buying off a year or two plan at once, because the offer discounts on first billing use coupon code 25SUPERHOST2011 and you will get a flat 25% of on your first paid amount. that means you pay $161 for 2 years straight works out $6.7 a month... along with super satisfaction.

    All the best!

For the most part Hostgator is great and you get live support from them which has helped me a lot on more than 1 occasion.

However, I am a little irritated with them right now, since they shut down my sites for caching problems without giving me any warning beforehand.

I still am with them, but host only about 20 blogs with them, 20 blogs with another provider, etc. to not put all my eggs in 1 basket....

If you are serious about your business, you should at the very least be okay with the costs of hosting companies like HostGator. I have websites hosted with both HostGator and Bluehost. There are quite a few horror stories with Bluehost about shutting down your site and I too have hit many bumps in the road with them. But if you keep it simple or have a team that knows what they are doing then they are both decent.

If you think you will have trouble, then I would steer away from Bluehost as their support seems to either be outsourced or the people responding have issues with understanding English.

I had to send about 10 e-mails back and forth with support explaining to them to check up on why one of my websites was not being forwarded. I received about 5 different e-mails from different names saying the my site didn't exist. But first they blamed Google Chrome which didn't even make sense. Then they blamed Hostgator and finally landed on the assumption there was no website at all. Each one more ridiculous than the next.

This was after I sent them screen shots of the site loading in my browser and screen shots of the site coming up in Google. They were too TECHY to simply go outside their own service and CHECK. I was lucky after getting very frustrated with them that an actual support tech decided to check his phone and could indeed see my website. Should I really have to fight my way through the haystack to get a good response to a support question?

Anyway... other than that, Bluehost has been decent except for....

when they deactivated my account (bringing EVERY website down) completely with only an e-mail saying that there was something wrong with my site and until I fixed it, they would not re-activate it. But... I did have access to CPANEL. The issue was with a Wordpress Plugin. I couldn't get into Worpress because they locked me out and since I didn't know what plugin was they Issue I just had to go through deleting them with FTP. I am not a wizard in PHP like many tech hosts ASSUME. Many of us are just business people trying to figure it out as we go.

Anyway... you could get Bluehost and never have a problem. I can't say that I won't have that issue with Hostgator down the road either.

But you should be okay with paying more for better service. From the posts I have read here so far it seem that either everyone is an affiliate with Hostgator or the feeling is unanimous that its a great place to start. So I would take that into consideration since you asked HERE.

Have used HG and found it reliable and helpful customer service.

Also have registered domains and use namecheap for hosting. Very responsive customer service, speed for fast loading, and great pricing too. Customer service personal via email and incredibly helpful beyond contractual boundaries. SSL and Whois Guard free or cheap. Always a coupon or sale except for domain renewals.

GoDaddy complete rip off. Moved all clients from GoDaddy registration and hosting so less headaches for me. GD bought by investment firm so look for upsells to get even worse.

Besides Hostgator which I use for one of our sites, I like Hostmonster.com they've never failed me or my clients. They have great support and the instant WordPress plugin and built in statistics included in the C-panel....excellent site uptime too.

Best of all if you can use their promotion link, hostmonster.com/promo and actually get $3.95/mo. hosting by signing up for 3 years, we usually migrate our clients to this program eventually and it's been good for all parties in the short run and long run.
