Is it worth it? Joomla is now in its 1.7 stage however most 3rd party components are still 1.5... I hate migrating, you'll lose a lot of previous stuff... anybody with Joomla! Migrated yet?

    I'm still with Joomla! 1.5
I find that a lot of the extensions that I use regularly are still with 1.5 so I would rather not have to bother finding new extensions and themes when the ones I am already using work perfectly fine

I don't use Joomla, I prefer Drupal. Having said that, I have not migrated my Drupal sites from 6.X to 7 simply because there are bound to be bugs and problems with any new version of a CMS (content management system).

I would not bother with it if your sites are fine. The newest version of a CMS has less themes and modules (extensions) that work with it.

I would wait, let all the bugs get worked out and then if you think it is worth it, go ahead and update to the newer version. As long as there are no major security issues with the version you are using, why bother?

I don't think upgrade is a good idea, many extension will goes down and modules.

Are you talking about moving (migration) your site to a different host?
    or
Are you talking about the update from 1.5 to 1.7?

Both of these are completely different fruits.

Also when you migrate you should not lose anything.

With an upgrade sometimes it happens that all the plugins will not work.

I set up my new sites in 1.7. It's very nice.

I found that most modules + plugins that haven't upgraded by now are also lacking support in general and are no longer supporting their old 1.5 modules anyway. So I have continued to use those which have upgraded and found replacements for those that haven't.

    Overall, very happy with 1.7.
