    Wadboram.....

    If you already run a membership site offer a lifetime or annual membership as a competition prize... that means that even existing members would be willing to participate and share the word of the competition....

    The easiest to get a bunch of traffic is to offer a product like the iPad2 as the prize then spend about $500 on Facebook advertising targeting your niche... tell them that part of entering the contest, they have to Like your page, then share your ad on their FB wall. This way you are only paying for targeted leads who will virally spread the word for you to hundreds of thousands or even millions of viewers eyes... for free. Hopefully some of their friends are also interested in your niche and you have a successful contest... yeah it's kind of expensive but you have to look at it from the perspective of 'future value'

    @wfhblueprints good idea
    @ibacklinkpro, I'm with you that this will be costly.

    But I'm thinking of having around15-20 winners but for small prizes to help spread the word instead of one expensive giveaway.

    Well remember to gather relevant prizes that will be valuable to your audience. The goal is to have the prize be worth the effort and remind people of your organization’s mission. The prizes should also match the effort that participants put into the contest in order to make the effort worthwhile.

    • Before you can even think about design and promotion of a contest, you need to determine how much 1 new visitor is worth to you. You divide your monthly revenue by number of visitors.

      Now that you know what 1 visitor is worth, you decide how many new visitors you'd like to acquire. Let's say 1 visitor is worth $2 and you want 1,000 new visitors. So your total budget is $2,000. That has to cover the cost of running the contest, the cost of the prizes and the cost of promotion.

      I've seen people plunge into contests without considering what it is they hope to achieve. If you don't plan for your goal, a contest can be a big waste of money.

    I found a good site "SocialPrize" that offers an opportunity to Co-Sponsor a Social Prize giveaway where the Cost of the prize spread out over PAID members.

    I liked the idea. Could anyone share other sites having the same idea?
