$150k in one year (from now)

Hello Famous Warrior Forum,

I've been studying Internet Marketing all year long. But I didn't start until 45 days ago. I found my niche, built a website (about finding niches), and now I'm bringing traffic to it in free ways I can think of; article marketing and facebook group pages. I have a high quality service (affiliate program) I'm promoting on my site, so I can make some money.

My goal is to make $150k by this time next year. And by $150k, I of course mean way more, but I will settle with that as a current goal. $50,000 a month would be nice, by this time next year. Oh, the ways I would spend it .. lol

Anyway, my short term goal is to make 100 sales by December 31st. My site, I believe, is in an average converting state. But with no traffic coming in, I don't want to make any alterations yet since I can't test. I would rather spend my time getting traffic to the site, just in case it converts okay already.

Does anyone have tips on how I can get this many sales?

I'd really appreciate some feedback!!

Zadok

Have you looked at the visits and the sales so far? What is your conversion rate?

Yeah, I've been watching Google Analytics closely, but there's very little traffic coming in. I'm waiting for my articles to get approved and then I'll see what happens.

The 'good' keywords only get about 120-380 global searches with an average of 350-440 exact quoted results (looking at the last page of Google to get an accurate number). I feel like I'll need a better source of traffic than article marketing. The product I'm promoting is internet marketing training, so it can be sold appropriately in multiple niche markets; finding a niche, keyword research, seo, PPC, etc.

I don't have any sales yet because I'm not getting traffic, and my articles haven't been approved. I found a ton of Internet Marketing groups on facebook which have a lot of members. I could use this in two ways.
      1) posting ads
      2) getting in touch with individual members and having one-on-one chats and trying to promote it via direct sales.

I would love to go with that 2nd approach. If I can develop a feel for selling directly, my copy writing skills would fly through the roof (I assume) because I'll learn how to better communicate with my audience.

The training site I'm promoting is offering a 30 day member ship for $1 from Nov 25-28, instead of the usual $47/month, so I really want to spread that as fast as possible.

EDIT: @hazeblazer: I aim high so I get further before I crash (if I crash). I've learned to become immune to failure, setbacks and mistakes. If I focus the next 60 days on making $1, I might only make $1. If I focus on getting 100 sales, I might get 30. Aiming higher gives you a birds eye view of the process you would have taken having aimed lower. So tasks seem smaller when you have a lot of them. Where as if you focus on a smaller goal, there are less tasks which make them seem bigger. Just how I personally work, if there are less tasks, they feel more important because it's all that occupies my mind and then emotion/stress gets involved. If they're are lots of smaller tasks, I can focus better on getting things done instead of perfecting small factors. It allows me to make consistent progress in a linear fashion.

For example: If you have 2 tasks and 4 days to do them, you may spend time repeating work you've done over and over to get it to a perfectionist standard. If you have 8 tasks to do in 4 days, you'll not only work quickly, but you will only do what's absolutely essential for success-and not waste time. Again, this is just me.

First off, I wish you much luck.

Only $150K? Are you talking turkish lira or dollars? How did you come up with such a # just curious.

If I visited your site, I'd want to see what niches you've actually found yourself and what your sites have become with this research. I know others will think the same. If you set it up as an informational site with generalizations and pure info it would be different, but you use phrases such as 'I use the keyword tool...' so I'd want to see the goods you've created with this wisdom. Not sure if a niche of how to find other niches is truly a niche. A horse IS a horse of course.

        Best of luck.

Lol, the number was based on paying for university, travel funds, and living expenses next year. It would be probably 100,000 Canadian Dollars truthfully, but I'd like to spoil myself a bit and have nice things lol...

Well, the site is made up of tutorials that are step-by-step and use screen shots. So through the lessons I actually find a niche while teaching how to find them. Example: "choose a market" I choose basketball, "plug it into a keyword tool and pick one of the results" I choose basketball drills. "dig deeper into one of the longer tail keywords" I choose basketball dribbling drills. "I could use Basketball dribbling drills to create a website and promote a product based on 60 minutes worth of high quality video training, and include free tips and training on the site as well" (extremely poor summary by the way)

I give people niches during the training. But that is an excellent point that I didn't really consider, I'll start adding business examples usable with the niche I find in the tutorial, like I did in that basketball example. This way I don't have to have different niche websites to show, but I can provide them with real business ideas they can hopefully get ideas from, and that might be a good alternative..

Do you think this would be helpful from the way you're seeing it?

Your plan is only about how much money you want - not about building a business that will become profitable.

The site isn't bad but is extremely narrow in scope and features an affiliate program that is good but not new or revolutionary. However, the organization and the writing shows promise.

You may have a good idea but you aren't there yet. Stop dreaming of $$$ in the future and focus on getting sales started today. THAT's where the money is and you will need (in my opinion) more than that site to get there.

I would recommend getting an opt-in with a niche email course or maybe some niche finding videos that way you can sell to your list as well as the new customers to your site. Like everyone around here says, "The money is in the list".

Firstly I'd like to say well done on making a start, as that is usually the hardest part.
With regard to your site, I'd ask, what makes you an expert in the area of finding niches? This isn't me having a go, it's just a question I would instantly ask if I visited your site - and I dont see anything on there to answer my question.

Obviously I know why (through reading this thread), it's because you only started actively working on IM 45 days ago, and you don't yet have the experience required to claim to be an expert. If you want conversions, then you're going to need to show how and why the product you're promoting will meet the needs of your target market.

I think it's a good start, but IMHO you wont be raking in $150,000 from this site, simply because the niche is saturated. You only need to type in "wealthy affitiale" into google and flick through the endless pages on review sites to see.

You've got two options in my eyes... Option 1 - Enhance these niche finding skills of yours by looking for a niche that's a little less saturated.

or option 2 - Think outside the box. Find something that will set your apart from the crowd and get you noticed - and find a way of providing as much quality information to the people landing on your site.

Thinking about it... option 2 isn't even an option, it's a necessity.

      There are all good points..

If I make 4 sales a day with commissions of 22$ each that would be $88 a day.

      Month 1
      2,640
      month 2
      2,640 + recurring commissions of 2,640 = 5,280
      month 3
      2,640 + recurring commissions of 5,280 = 7,920
      month 4
      2,640 + recurring commissions of 7,920 = 10,560
      month 5
      2,640 + recurring commissions of 10,560 = 13,200
      month 6
      2,640 + recurring commissions of 13,200 = 15,840
      month 7
      2,640 + recurring commissions of 15,840 = 18,480
      month 8
      2,640 + recurring commissions of 18,480 = 21,120
      month 9
      2,640 + recurring commissions of 21,120 = 23,760
      month 10
      2,640 + recurring commissions of 23,760 = 26,400
month 11 (1 year from now)
      2,640 + recurring commissions of 26,400 = 29,040

each of the month's separate incomes together = 174,240

I want to make 4 sales a day starting January 1st, so the rest of this month and next is about getting as much traffic as possible, and testing my site's content, CTR, and sales pages.

However, some of the comments makes me wonder if I really will make consistent sales like this from a website about finding niches. If anything's possible, it should be a matter of dominating the niche (by standing out/being different as Manc32 mentioned) and having excessive amounts of targeted traffic come in, plus amazing content that converts.

I'm sure there are 150-200 people looking for niches a day, I just need to get in front of them.

But 'dominating the niche' isn't likely to happen by January 1st without outsourcing articles, using adwords, etc.. I have no money to invest right now. I don't want to make another site and start from scratch, because I know I can make money off of this, maybe $150k, but that's not my focus, it's my goal. My focus is getting traffic to my site and test, my short term goal is to make my first 100 sales by December 31st, whatever it takes.

What are some things I should focus on from your guys' opinion?

Mine were: create 2 freebies to make an opt-in look attractive, 1 of the freebies will be a course about internet marketing and build up to a feature about the product I'm promoting, then lead to a review, or directly to the affiliate link. The other is just helpful. The news letter will be training articles that aren't on my site, and will link to a product review (I haven't decided how to use a 'newsletter' on a 'niche' niche website, but whatever way I can use email to have another angle of promoting my product)

Using Facebook groups to link to my site, or tutorials.

Forum marketing, haven't really learned about that yet.

      And articles.

I think you should focus (at least briefly) on not assuming that, if you make 4 sales per day, all of those subscriptions would recur indefinitely. It may be more realistic to find out what proportion of them do recur (the number will be far lower than you hope/expect) and for how many months on average (it might typically be as low as 2 - 3).

I'm afraid that if you re-calculate on the assumption that fewer than 50% recur, and for an average of only 2.5 months each, your total resulting income would be a very small fraction of its current $174,240.

In other words, with apologies for being the bearer of bad news, and if you'll excuse my putting it somewhat bluntly, your calculations above are completely unrealistic.

I appreciate your ambition, but your goals are mighty lofty.

The goal of 4 sales a month doesn't seem too intense, but expecting 100% recurring with no subscriber attrition is pretty unrealistic.

And while you say you target 4 sales a month, you also say you want to make 100 sales by December 31st.

But you don't even have traffic yet?

I believe in BHAG, but they can't just be Big Hairy and Audacious. The goals have to be realistic.

Don't burn out trying to achieve the impossible. Take it one step at a time.

You say your keywords have 120-380 search results. Lets assume the high end of 380 per month and that you have 10 of those. That would give 3800 searches per month.

Now lets assume a no. 1 Google results position for every one of those which would might give about a 42% click thru rate - thats 1596.

Now from that lets assume a 5% click thru rate that gives you 80 people clicking thru to your sales page.

From that assuming .25 try it out...that would give you 20 people trying it

Now most will take the trial and quit. But lets assume a 50% stick it out (which is high)...

That gives you 10 sign ups a month.

Not sure what your payout is, so you can do the math and multiply 10 x payout to get your monthly income.

Does that take you close to $150,000 a year? And this is assuming very best case scenario.

**** BTW waiting around for traffic from your articles at article directories is like watching grass grow.

You are going to have to do more than that to get things humming at your site.

LilBlackDress said it all just above me.

Also, those stats for the number of searches per month are way too low. You need to be targeting some keywords with a much higher potential yield.

Your traffic from article directories will be very low too, unless you have some unique twist on using them that you haven't shared. If you get 5 hits a day per article you'll be doing pretty well, unless you can get them widely syndicated, which generally requires a different approach to writing them from the outset.

So you need to ramp up your efforts and rethink your keyword options if you're going to hit sales of $150,000 (but that's just my opinion, FWIW).

I tend to agree with the principal of aiming high, but also with being realistically optimistic and not blindly. (no offense meant)

Aiming high and achieving more than you would have had you pitched low is great....but the thump is far more audible when you hit the ground from the top rung of the ladder than from a couple steps down.

Best of luck....I like your analytical approach to stats and numbers.

I am really sorry for what for I am about to say. It's my honest opinion Don't take this as me being rude but...

You need to pull you head out of your @$$. Seriously. Your calculations are very unrealistic.

Based on what you mention about your marketing plans in your original post, saying it would take a perfect storm to make 4 sales per day starting Dec 1st would be an understatement.

      You said:

I found a ton of Internet Marketing groups on facebook which have a lot of members. I could use this in two ways.
      1) posting ads
      2) getting in touch with individual members and having one-on-one chats and trying to promote it via direct sales.
What do you mean by posting ads? DO you mean posting your link in Facebook IM groups and sending strangers facebook messages? Yea... I don't see any one making 150k from doing this. Get real. Facebook will block your account due to spamming, by the way, if you keep doing so.

Your second traffic method is article marketing. As someone else mentioned above, watching traffic grow from article marketing is a very slow process. So, again, no way this will help you make 4 sales per day starting December 1st.

Anyway, I am not trying to discourage you. Making 150k in one year is very possible. I am just saying, you need to re-evaluate your marketing strategy or you'll be crushed with disappointment by the end of this year.

I never said article marketing is a poor way to generate traffic. Just wanted to inform you it will take time. If you want to get into article marketing, you need to talk to Alexa Smith. I don't know if she offers free help or not. But, I've been reading this forum for quite a while and from her posts, I can assure you she knows her sh*t about the topic.

You seem like you still got that "IM is an overnight success" mentality. The sooner you get rid of it, the better. Again, I am not saying your goal is impossible. Just pointing out it's not as easy as you think. If all it takes was posting Facebook links and sending messages to strangers, everyone and their grandma would be doing it. You would notice every Facebook page is flooded with user's links and you'll receive tons of Facebook messages everyday from strangers trying to sell you some sh_t. Feel free to try it, though. Experience is the best teacher, after all.

If you want my advice, I recommend you get off the Make Money Online niche. People are getting smarter and are reluctant to purchase from someone without a reputation.

You claim to know your stuff about finding a niche and be able make a profitable site in that niche in about 1 hour. Do you have proof to back it up? How many times have you successfully done so? Exactly.

To be frankly honest, there is no way in hell I would listen to your advice under these conditions. That's as logical as taking nutrition and fitness advice from an obese man. Yes, There is a chance he does know what he is talking about, but, the odds are against it. Get what I am saying?

If you are so good at finding niches with good search volume and low competition, one thing you could is build niche websites and rank them using SEO. When your hard work starts to pay off, you will get some decent targeted traffic which will lead to sales on auto-pilot. Then, you can take it further by building a list, do some paid advertising to grow bigger.

          Just my two cents...

Lol, haha. yea.. true, ok. Well, honestly, I'm not an 'expert' on anything, but if I do the research and understand it, I can write as if I am and teach well.

What do you recommend I do? My first website, that I put aside to take up this niche one, was based around body language and promotes products for sales people/businessmen & women. But again, that could require reputable status to convert properly & make sales.

Do you think I should start from scratch in a new niche?
And if so, should it be one I don't have to blatantly be an expert in?
            Or,
Should I keep working on this niche site but with a different angle? ..

It's not that I have the over night success idea still, I just know it's possible so I remind myself of it I guess.

However, do you mind sharing what your experience has been with IM, your success, etc?

I was thinking before to just build niche websites to a profitable stage, and then sell them and use the money to invest in a new niche site. Outsourcing would speed up a 2nd project. and just repeating that process.

I already gave you my advice. Read my previous post. I don't think the IM niche is a good place to start for beginners. The buyers in this field tends to have a high BS meter because they are aware of all the scam products out there (not saying the product you are promoting is a scam). It would a lot easier to convince people to trust you in that field if you are speaking from experience - something beginners can't do.

My first website, that I put aside to take up this niche one, was based around body language and promotes products for sales people/businessmen & women. But again, that could require reputable status to convert properly & make sales.
You are making the same common mistakes most newbies make. You jump from one thing to another. You started something and before seeing it through, you quit.

However, do you mind sharing what your experience has been with IM, your success, etc?
      Sure.

I am no expert either. I started IM in 2009. I went in with big dreams because everywhere I read, people were claiming to make thousands a week by following some click button formula. Little did I know, they were only saying so just to make an affiliate sale.

Anyway, I read some free tutorials to get this IM thing a shot. And like you, I tried to promote MMO products. Days, weeks, months go by and I see no results. I quit at around October. But, it wasn't all a waste. By then, I have learned some skills, like how to build a quality looking Wordpress website. Rather than letting those skills go to waste, I decided to have some fun with them. I bought a domain and build a site around something I am interested in... Wasn't really looking to make money with it. I did some Youtube advertising and before I knew it, I was getting tons of traffic. I then added Adsense to it and revenue (like $2-$3 a day) starts to roll in. That's when I realize, I wasn't the problem. I was just in the wrong niche.

In 2011, I was very convinced money can be made online if the right actions are taken. So, I decided to try Fiverr. Yup, I was working for a mere $5. In 10 days, I made 27 gig sales (Made a thread about: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...t-10-days.html)

I did these gigs for about 3 months and was earning like $12 a day. I then decided to get into something bigger. I do some keyword research, get a domain name, make a website on a profitable niche, do SEO etc... I, again, monetize it using Adsense. Got some good results and repeated the process.

Now, in late 2011, I am earning something I am VERY satisfied with. It's not a full time income but it's an amount to be proud of.

A few days ago, I decided to start promoting Clickbank products and made my first sale (thread about there: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...bank-sale.html) and I am currently working on a plan to make sales on a daily basis.

As you can see, it doesn't happen overnight. Not for me anyway. It takes a while to get the ball rolling.

I am sorry if I rained on your parade by telling you results won't happen as fast as you predicted. I hope you didn't think I was being an asshole.

Cases where people go from $0 to $150k in their first year by selling MMO affiliate products are rare. I am not trying to lecture you as if I was some sort of big shot (Lord knows I am not). I just want to put you in the right mindset or you'll end up being very frustrated.

That is very possible, remember try out all the free traffic methods and track them using Google Analytic, and find the ones that work the best and keep using them

You'v got the basic down, very educated, now you just have to take consistent action. Now that you have build to website don't not do much, don't try looking for answers.
TAKE ACTION! You know what the do, so do it

That's one of the most important key factor, taking consistent action, on a daily basis, and you will succeed. For you it would be building traffic.

Good Luck, I hope you stick to your goal and become successful, which you will if you take consistent action.

Your goals are very lofty but attainable for sure with the right plan. I agree that another niche would probably better suit you, IM is a tough nut to crack without any reputation.

You seem like you're on the right path as far as trying to figure out what works for you just be sure not to bounce around too quickly. If you are 45 days in and already contemplating giving up on your 2nd project, it's not ideal. Try to either research a bit more before you dive in feet first or don't give up until you're satisfied with where you've ended up.

    Best of luck.

      Hi,

This is a really good goal no doubt and bless you for desiring to achieve higher things.

I would suggest not trying to do any calculations. IM business can be unpredictable, at least at the beginning. Making predictions can frustrate you when they don't go as planned.

Save your calculations for when you start getting data, and then adjust accordingly.

I would suggest really making a name for yourself and trying to fill as many empty spaces on the net as possible in regards to your area of expertise. Instead of trying to achieve the $150,000 attempt to achieve other goals that will bring it such as...

a: being the go-to-guy for your information
b: being extremely reliable and helpful
      c: branding yourself
d: getting your brand out there
f: establishing lots of ways for people to find you on different platforms of sites
      g: increasing word of mouth
h: being unique by providing information that is fresh

Deepak Chopra once said something about "the Goddess of wealth ignores you when you chase her, but she gets jealous when you ignore her and choose to chase your passion - she soon follows".

So, rather than being caught up in the "quality of the money", persue being caught up in "the quality of your presence and expertise". I have found that this can keep a person on track and not falter.

It's really hard to provide to other people's needs if you are constantly thinking about your needs.

Best of luck and rock on!

Just wondering, what are different 'platforms' of sites? Or some examples? Also how would I manually increase word of mouth marketing?

I think these are very excellent tips. I'm currently designing a plan to implement email marketing into my website, an opt-in, and some free training/PDFs to encourage them to get on my list.

Can anyone recommend any free copy writing resources to look at? Not strictly for selling, but generally for increasing CTR and building trust.

I'm going to hire someone at TheContentAuthority to write one article for me, just so I can get an idea of what 'good' writing looks like.

Thanks again for all feedback, and I of course welcome tons more! =P

It's not serious to think about how much money you will make until you have a clear business plan and while you are not getting (almost) any traffic to your website... also, it's not serious to think that you will do that good with few articles and spams to Facebook groups...

I'm afraid there is much more things that should be done if you want to achieve that amount by chosen time period... and I would say you will need to work your ass in order to achieve that... well, at least you are on the great place to learn because here on The Warrior Forum you can learn a lot... it will help you to start making money online as soon as possible... but there is a lot of work that's waiting to be done - by you

Hi Zadok, it's good that you have a goal. But for a starter you should not put as high just like that because you will not only disappointed when the end of the year comes and not meeting your goals and maybe you will quit.

So for me, I myself it's been a year that I put up my blogs or site and I am happy of what the result because I set a goal that is reachable of what I expected. But, goodluck though and I hope to see you succeed in the future...God bless.

Happy Thanksgiving in advance to everyone!

    Cheers,

If you are looking for traffic from search, how many keywords does your site rank high for? How much traffic do these keywords combined provide? and of that, based on your rankings how much traffic can you expect to receive?

What other ways are you driving traffic? social media?

First of all you need to stop thinking how much you can make and start thinking how much you can give

next make sure your niche has at least 100,000 searches per month or you may just be waisting your time

not everyone buys remember, and you need to be looking at a market with this amount of searches to be able to get good returns

      all the best

    Hi,

Good luck with you targets! I really hope you hit them! But don't you think you may of set the bar a little high!

By setting it to high it can get you down when you don't hit it!

Why not start of with $100 per month! Then when you hit that $1000 per month! Ect

Small ever increasing goals is the key!

    Thanks
