I joined the forum some time back but never got round to introducing myself - I'm trying to use the internet to sell some of my prints, to which I've had a little success linking back to my Etsy site, but Etsy is a very difficult medium for selling art, so I'm now trying it with a stand alone website.

I'd appreciate any comments on my website and how it looks and works - it feels fine to me but it's always nice to get a second (or third) opinion!

I'm also looking at other ways of earning via the internet (don't like having too many eggs in one basket) so I hope to pick your brains over the coming weeks and months on just how to go about it...

My website is linked (I hope) through my signature - and this isn't just a blatant attempt to sell anything here; I'm sure you're much too savvy to fall for tricks like that!

Looking forward to speaking to you in the future.

    Hi,

    Here is my feedback:

    1. I am a wordpress junky, I always recommend that people build a wordpress site. It only takes about an hour to learn the basics and it is so powerful and flexible due to the millions of plugins available. If you can think of a feature you want on your site you can probably find someone who has already created a plugin for that.
    2. Another reason that you want to use wordpress is that you can do some SEO optimization that you just wouldn't be able to do otherwise on your free web host.
    3. Instead of having albums and the lightbox for your photos, I would have a gallery of thumbnails. Ideally you would like that thumbnail to open to a new page with a buy button right below it as your purchase process of having to include the print number when you order is too labor intensive for someone to want to complete. It may sound easy to you, but it is just one more thing that can go wrong in the ordering process. It will take a long time to create buy buttons for each piece of art but the end user experience will be easy and if it is easier to buy something your conversions will go up.
Have you ever thought of listing your work on sites like istockphoto etc? That might be an opportunity for you as well.

These should be some decent suggestions to get you started
