If you edit your article, will it drop of the ranking temporarily? ....Permanent?

Bwahahahahahaha! Oh yeah, my article is at no.1 spot. Buyooh! Lol, but it was just over 2000 competing pages. This is just a newbie boast . But hey, is still not bad for a first try right? Is so awesome to see your article at the highest position of your target keyword. .....Hope it stays there.

Anyway, I was wondering whether if your article will drop of the ranking after you edit an article. Does it? I recently edit one of my articles on goarticle. It was on page 3 last time I check, after I edit it, it completely vanish, not even in any of the pages. Is this the infamous google dance?(Seriously, someone should stop paying those dancing lessons for google XD)

Or is this natural after editing an article? Because I seem to recall this happen to me before where I edit an article and it vanish for a while, but then it came back, but long though.

If this is google dance, why is it "dancing" only on my edited articles? The problem must be the editing......

Can anyone clear my confusion? .......

There are many factors which effect what rankings your articles have. There is no one overall factor ... However, if you change the keywords/phrases in your article which google is ranking your article on, then yes, of course it will effect your ranking... it all depends on what you are changing in the article.

I only change my contents. You know, improving my article. That doesn't effect the ranking does it?

I only want an answer on this.

It depends on how you change your article.

In most cases, it will not affect your rankings....

But it could affect your rankings...

Anytime you tinker with it and make changes, it could affect rankings... But sometimes the changes you make will be worth the risk.

You never know with Google unless you try and see it yourself. Even what you see may not be consistent. :-)

Changing the content drastically may have an effect, especially because it seems that the on-page was a major factor in ranking (as you said: 2,000 competing pages). I don't "think" minor edits would have a major impact.

If you change your keywords in your articles which google is using to rank your site then it could affect your ranking. But as long as you don't do anything with the keywords/phrases everything will turn out fine.
