What the bloody hell is my niche?

I have had my blog up for 3 months now. I have definitely learnt a lot and have been sharpening my focus in terms of niche. However, I am still confused. I am just going to go all out here and ask everyone.

Initially I wanted to write about personal development, which of course is a very broad concept. From feedback, my brash style of writing appeals to guys more. Hence, personal development for guys can range from fitness, dating, general character growth, spirituality etc.

If you guys could take a look at my About Me page, I love to write. What about? I love to write about personal growth.

A friend gave me his opinion that I write about personal development in the area of success, kind of like I just make people laugh and help them be a better person.

Another friend however, feels that that doesn't mean sh*t. His reasoning:
-I am not focusing on spirituality
-I am not writing to help guys pick up girls
-I am not writing about fitness
-I have random funny articles which are just there for laughs.

What do you all think? I do agree that I am not focusing on the above three, simply because I am not very interested in them (even though friends think I can give advice on picking up girls).

I actually boiled it down to this:

My niche is about personal development, focusing on success for younger guys, and I have funny stuff on the side to make people laugh.

Does that make sense?!?!

I am working on my free report now. I just am afraid to lose focus. I also hope to monetize the blog in the future and I fear that the lack of a hyper-focused niche would not be good for me. The same friend told me that I may not have to sell products next time, I can become some sort of online magazine. I don't know. Really.

Do share your thoughts =)

Only thing I'd like to say is make sure your focus remains on your niche market, their problems and pains and not for your own enjoyment.

Stay reader focused and find out who your market is... which will be easier if you can get them commenting.

I thought younger guys were more interested in chicks, beer and cars.

You'll need to apply your 'style' of writing (which I like BTW)
to a 'niche'...personal development is NOT a niche, it is a
    broad subject.

I think Suzanne (sbucciarel) was dead right. Your target market are not
really interested in personal development..chicks beer and cars may be closer to a niche?

From the first look at your site it says "just another blog with pictures".
There is not much that says what the blog is about and what people can expect, your opt-in box say nothing really. You could also expand the sidebar with useful content.
I guess your bounce rate is high.
I understand the appeal of "my sh.t" phrase but you really automatically discredit your own writing saying that. "Get sh.t from me for free" - there's plenty of that everywhere for free, maybe that's the reason you can't attract female audience.

    There is your niche ^

However it depends on what you are trying to do.

Are you trying to make money out of the niche?

If so identify the main problems in the niche and offer solutions.

Why should people listen to you?

Have you got proof that your method works?

    How can you help ME?

A few questions you should ask ^

Then make your content laser targeted to providing value in the niche and access how you are doing.

I have no niche either, I am a portal blog, everything from technology, entertainment, blogging, social media, Wordpress...etc. So it has been a challenge to get a consistent reader base and make earnings when your blog has no niche to focus on.

    Hey guys!

    Thanks for all your input.

Hmm chicks, beers and car. Is that a really sizable market? Can it be monetized?

Anyway to answer your questions, yes i DO want to make money out of my blog. That is why I am asking this question about niche.

I am experiencing good traffic growth for now, but I have this irrational fear that, without a focused niche I am not able to monetize it.

    What do you all think?

Seems like you are in the Comedy/Self Improvement. Best area for you to focus on sculpting is Copywriting. Sub niches: Building confidence, personal development, motivation, direction in life, positive mindstate, etc You have many sub niches in the self improvement department.

I like your writing style. You are very unique and talented. Keep up the good work.

Many will no doubt suggest that you do key word research blah blah blah...

    My questions to you are:

Do you have a success story to tell?

    How can you help others?

I am going to suggest some sort of book be written to gain some traction as opposed to sticking up a blog and hoping they'll come.

The other way to look at it is to find out what is popular and apply your spin on it. Then if you blog correctly, you'll gain attention.

Personal development is a broad niche, which is fine. But their are sub niches within it. So you have to appeal to a specific demographic.

And write content accordingly. Then you can create products for each sub niche and cross promote them toy our list.

You'e actually not that far away from a solution.

EDIT: I just scanned your blog... a book would be awesome: Be A man!

It makes sense, but It sounds like It's not just one niche your chasing after if you know what I mean. That's why it may not make sense to you because your trying to figure out what niche you are chasing but you chasing more than just one. It's more of a mixture, mixxing in a few other niches, thats cool but.

    Thanks for the love guys!

I did think of the idea of building credibility for the blog at the end of it (e.g. a published book), which would then give me traction and backing for the blog, as opposed to building the blog from the ground up in traditional internet marketing ways.

So well, several niches, a mix of niches or one hyper-focused niche? Seems like we have a mix of opinions
