Kindly review my business/marketing plan?

OK, with the fantastic responses I received over the last 2 days I sat and came up with my first draft of a business plan. I really value all of your input because I can tell this community has some brilliant minds. This is my first time taking a shot at Network marketing as a distributor so I wont be offended if this looks ass backwards! Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks!

XFT Business & Marketing Plan

Executive Summary:
Xtreme Fuel Treatment is a fuel additive manufactured by Syntek Global, based in Salt Lake City Utah. Syntek Global is a network marketing business that sells their product through independent distributors. The success of the entire company all boils down to their #1 product: Xtreme Fuel Treatment. XFT's quality and ability to save a consumer significant fuel savings each year, coupled with the rising cost of fuel is what makes it a successful product. This product appeals to both individual consumers, families, and commercial businesses with large fuel expenses. Fuel costs continue to grow each year which creates a need to reduce fuel spending. Instead of selling a vehicle or reducing travel, now people have more freedom and can save money just by using XFT.

How XFT works:
(Will attach a separate PDF with detailed product overview)

Mission statement:
Generate a significant income within 2 years by making residual commission from selling XFT to customers, and sponsoring new distributors under my team. First objective is to grow a substantial residual customer base made up of both individual consumers and businesses, and use it as leverage when presenting to prospective distributors.

Objectives:
• Increase residual profit each year by growing the customer base and sponsoring new distributors.
• Individually advance to a higher company tier every 6 months until Blue Diamond status is achieved.
• Grow the volume of the entire team which benefits everyone on the team via Personal Volume points.
• Promote product awareness and drown out any competition

Target Markets:
• Individuals and families from age 18+ who own at least one vehicle (Vehicles can be new or used, gas or diesel, domestic or import).
• Small, medium, or large commercial businesses that generates a significant fuel bill every month.
• Eager, entrepreneurial individuals looking for a residual income-based distributorship opportunity

Distribution Method:
Customers will determine their approximate fuel consumption for each month, determine how much XFT they need to treat their fuel volume and order XFT product through my company website each month. Once order is placed, product is delivered to their location within 5 business days.

Start-up Expenses and Return on Investment:
I have invested $320 up front to sign up as a distributor, and will be charged $120 each month (which provides the website store & monthly product samples) to maintain my active distributor membership. This means I need to generate enough residual sales as quickly as possibly to break even with this starting deficit. This is the only expense incurred with this business to maintain active membership. Each product sale generates a 25% commission to me, so I need to generate approximately $500 in monthly sales to break even.

Marketing Plan:
I will have 3 separate marketing plans to target 3 separate bases: individual customers, commercial businesses, and prospective distributors. The main goal with all customers is to advertise multiple ways to improve fuel economy and save money, with XFT being the main catalyst. Once contact has been made through one of the various marketing methods, have them visit my website, view the product information and video, communicate with me, and purchase the product. The goal with each prospective distributor is to expose them to a 3-min pique video, follow-up, expose them to a more detailed video outlining the ways to generate income, set up a 3-way call with my team to generate excitement and reinforce the opportunity, and sign them up. The secondary goal is to convert satisfied customers into distributors once they see how well it works and how marketable the product is in this economy.

The overall marketing plan will consist of direct contact, referrals, social media platforms, targeted email lists from my upcoming "Fuel Savings" blog, signage, web and print ads, and various web forums

1) Individual Customers:
• LIGHT direct sales with friends and family, exposing them to the informational video on my website
• Create and advertise multiple web ads on various websites, forums, and Social media platforms focusing on saving money and going green which land individuals to my website
• Build a blog which will collect emails of individuals interested in learning tips on how to save on fuel and go green
• Using collected emails, I will send weekly tips on how to improve fuel economy, promote the product, and share any relevant news.
• Create a few pull-tab fliers and place on high-traffic shopping bulletins
• Advertise to customers on FREE sites such as Craigslist

2) Commercial Business Accounts:
• The success of landing commercial accounts will reply heavily on my customer base to use as leverage in my presentations
• Gather up as many customer testimonials as possible and roll them into my presentation
• Cold calling businesses such as commercial fleet accounts, parts distribution businesses, landscape & construction, delivery trucks, local municipalities, etc. I have a nice list of commercial prospects built
• Advertise to businesses online using social media ads, all pointing to my website
• Once a medium size account is landed, I can create a detailed report and show exactly how much savings this product will generate in a year

3) Prospective Distributors:
• The success of creating excited prospects will be based on using customer commissions as leverage. I want them to see for themselves that both the product AND compensation plan works and is profitable.
• Same marketing outline as individual customer marketing plan but using different content to pique curiosity

Marketing Budget:
Between $400-$500 spread out over 5-6 months

Without knowing too much about the product it seems like a sound business model.

    A few comments:

    • I think you need a stronger plan around creating a distribution network. Just because someone likes the product and has a use for it doesn't mean that they'd be interested in putting their time into selling and promoting it. How would that model even work? Why would they go through you instead of directly to the manufacturer?
    • If you can't answer the bolded question above, I would put my time and energy into developing relationships with other fuel conscious blogs out there as well as other auto blogs and start advertising on those networks or purchase ad space in their emails they send out to their list. Either pay up front or give them some commission.
    • Your sales funnel (other than the distributor piece of it) sounds great and well thought out. I like that you've broken down the stages of the sales cycle.
    • I would also create a personal and business section on your site. It creates the illusion that you have two large departments that will be able to handle the specific needs of end users and SMBs. Think about it, if you go to a website and it is focused on the personal application, business will be turned off thinking you are too small. Vice Versa, if it is just business focused then individuals will think... "man it looks like a great product, but they aren't going to want to deal with just one guy"
That's all I've got for now

Hey Cru, thanks for the response. To answer your questions about how to effectively pursue distributors, that relies heavily on the power of my upline. This business is not a conventional MLM, because you dont NEED to sponsor a single person to geenrate income and nobody breathes down your throat about hitting goals, etc. The team benefits just from sales volume alone.

That being said, the upline trains distributors to simply make contact with the right prospect, pique their interest with a couple of videos, and place them directly on a 3-way call to seal the deal. The company has an 80% conversion rate once this step is achieved. It takes lots of pressure off the distributor!

So, my goal in regards to sponsoring new distributors is to simply approach the right person who has a drive to become an entrepreneur, wave the XFT flag, pique them with a short video, and set up a 3-way call with my upline.

      You have some good areas.

      Something I would personally change:

      Mission statement:
Generate a significant income within 2 years by making residual commission from selling XFT to customers, and sponsoring new distributors under my team. First objective is to grow a substantial residual customer base made up of both individual consumers and businesses, and use it as leverage when presenting to prospective distributors.
Perhaps "significant income" is too general.

A solution might be "accumulate 500 residual customers" - as this goal gives you a specific number of prospects you need to convert. That number can then be turned into a financial sum based on averages.

While your product appeals to 3 different markets/customer bases, I'd also focus on just one of them.
