If you're losing money and failing - just STOP for a minute

I know this has been done a lot of times but I think it bears constant repeating.

I read this post in another thread just now and feel this needs a broader audience....

Hello good people, I am enthusistic about network marketing to the extent that I have spent more than US$10000 so far without any profit but even now I am still trying different programs and hope will one day be on the 3% that succeed in network marketing. I joined and cancelled after some months big programs that needed monthly subscriptions of US$30 and up.The most expensive joining fee was US$2999 and US$59.95 monthly subscription and I used it for 6 months. Currently I have reduced the programs as I only pay $33 monthly subscription for 2 programs and hosgator fee that host my domains but still waiting to see some profit.

I am asking if traffic broker can yield any results for me because I found the information in their website convincing. Will it be advisible for me to cancel the $33 subscription and take the US$49.95 traffic broker membership and put my whole weight on it untill I make some profit? What is your experience with traffic broker? Any advice will be highly appreciated.
Please don't think I am taking some kind of high ground because this is almost exactly where I was at the begining (just not quite so expensively!).

This is what I wrote in reply - perhaps others with more experience than me can give their viewpoint too.

.................................................. ....

STOP!

Your post makes me sad.

You have lost a lot of money and seem intent in just careering along spending more and making the same mistakes.

I don't know what this traffic broker thing is but I do know this.. pretty much all of us followed a similar path (if not as expensive!) at the begining. Jumping from one scheme to another. I wrote in another post of my early experience with MLM marketing and it is pretty much accepted that only a very few really make it in that field and they tend to be the ones invited in at the start.

I really think you need to look back over what you have doe so far and ask yourself some hard questions. What is the pattern? You stumble on a convincing sales page that seems very promising with pictures of smiling faces and stories of success but clearly that hasn't happened for you. Not once but multiple times. Why? Did you not work hard enough? Do you not have the necessary skills?

In my own experience it was because I didn't fully appreciate that in order to truly have an online business, you have to have an online business model.

A business model consists of a target market, a product (whether your own, affiliate or a service), a method of delivery (website, blog, email, facebook, ebay etc) and a traffic system.

By far the best way to find a business model is to find what is truly working for people at your own level of experience and ability and copy it.

Yes network marketing works for some but you need to really stop for a bit before you pour more money and, more importantly, more time into yet another scheme.

Personally, if you were my best friend and told me your story I would tie you to the nearest large object until you told me you had changed your mind.

Take a good few weeks out and look around this forum, read everything and then make a decision.

I wish you all the best
Rob

This is exactly what I'm doing right now. I'm losing money outsourcing Ezine Articles to my client and still finding ways to turn things around. I'm just looking around this forum coz' I know a goldmine will always be around.

If you lose money, don't give up and raise your white flag yet.....

My advice is to pick a skill that you will be one of the best in the world at. Copywriter, PPC expert, article marketing expert, sniper method, etc. What is your USP? If you don't have your unique selling point sprinkled into your marketing messages you will just appear like every other marketer in your niche. You really don't need to spend much in internet marketing. Just the bare basics like: Hosting, autoresponder, keyword tool, I like using squeeze page builder like optimize press, just to begin. Get some momentum by using free methods of traffic. Create your content by learning about your field. Don't just learn go create some content related to your sub niche.

Its great to see people gun ho about spending money to build there business but creating a plan is priceless. Jumping from one product to the next means there is lack of direction. I used to have that problem until I started reading books like Think and Grow Rich and Magic of Thinking Big. They helped start the slow transformation to realize what I wanted to master.

The question you need to be able to answer is if you were introduced on stage at a big internet marketing seminar what would you be known for?

I feel like this is something that most new IMers should concentrate more on. The second I started reading hardcover books (Dan Kennedy, Robert Cialdini etc) everything changed for me as well. Just because you know how to build websites and make backlinks doesn't mean you can run a business.

It's like a plumber thinking that because he can fix toilets that he can have a successful business. Knowing the intricacies of IM is only half the battle. Knowing how to properly run a business is the other half and it's often overlooked online for whatever reason.

This is not any different than the offline world.

Provide value and people will give you monies.
(that means you provide something somebody else needs at a good price)

    Beware the trick business model.

Soooooo many people fall into the trap of bouncing around from idea to idea, always looking for that quick fix. When in reality, all they're doing is not giving any one of the ideas a chance to bloom into something that could actually make money.

I'm not saying that anyone should stick with a losing battle, but there's a difference between fighting a losing battle, and just not giving it the chance to play out.

There's so much information available and there's always someone pushing "the next big thing," that it makes it very hard to stick with one plan, but it has to be done. This is something that has to be learned by everyone at some point in time.

Way too many people fall for this: they see the riches over the next hill and keep chasing them. The fact is that most of these so called get rich quick schemes work, but they need a lot of effort and time and are not really get rich quick schemes at all (I hate the marketers who try to pretend otherwise).

The universal truth is that you can only earn money by hard labour and there are no shortcuts.
