Where to get nike shoes must have low percentage on the phrase to broad match feature in Market Samurai. I am checking that right now to see because the monthly search is 1 million per month from what it says in Google keyword tool. The amount of exact competition is 9 results. The pbr must be close to 0 because 1mil per month search and 9 results when putting the quotes around the word doesn't add up. Will be back with results from Market Samurai.

where to get nike shoes has zero phrase to broad match which means that it is a useless keyword. It is not searched for in that exact wording. Don't register either keyword.

Are you really sure you want to do what you're asking, given the inherent legal risks?

JamesR, DaveZ - Guys, nike shoes is just an example I'm using. I didn't post the really key words. Sorry i didn't mention it earlier.
The question I'm getting at here is that i know that the long term keyword has lots of searches, so would getting part of that long term keyword registered be even better?

      wheretogetnikeshoes.com
      getnikeshoes.com

      Joe,
I like your advice about the x. Just curious, how do you know it doesn't register with google?

My goal is to find a buying keyword, with high local searches, and low competition.

Well, I would never profess to be the best, but I can definitely save you some time here. First, and most importantly you need to understand Google Keywords and what the choices are for. 'Broad Match' is useful if you are wanting to buy that keyword for an adsense campaign. For what you are looking for, broad match is going to give you an extremely distorted and unrealistic expectation of visitors will get to a website. Look to the left and click on exact match, the keywords will show up in brackets.

For example: 'where to get nike shoes': broad match - 1,830,000 monthly searches
exact match - 28 monthly searches. Now what that tells you is that if you want to
buy that keyword in an adword campaign then google will be spending your money quickly, lol. Now if you want to build a website with that keyword, I don't care what your domain is, the best you can expect is about 40% of 28 monthly searches... or about one vistor every 5 or 6 days. Now if you think you are going to get any part of that 1,830,000 visitors to your website, I am sorry but you will get none, nada, the only visitors you will get are those who type in your exact keyword.

Now if we were to assume that the exact match keyword had a good amount of visitors, then you have to evaluate competition. I really would not rely on google keyword tools for that. You will need seperate software to properly do that. The Ultimate would be Market Samurai which is a bit pricey, or Traffic Travis or Niche Finder.

I don't know that the shorter keyword would be 'better', but I really would not get a domain that long, 2 or 3 word domains is ideal. Try to stick with .com, .org, or .net. The problem always comes with it not being available. As someone else said, yes you will probably be ok with the letter 'x' at the end. I even have 3 exact match domains that start off with the letter 'e' , a couple that start of with 'the' and they ranked just fine. Hope this helps...

Two things here: First, using a trademark in your URL can be problematic because the owner of the trademark may come after you. Second of all, never include the actual keywords you want to use on a public forum because someone may swoop in, buy them and squat on them so that you need to pay them for your preferred URLs.
