How Dare You Ask That Much For Your Product!!!

LOL

As a product creator, I get to ask however little or however much I would like to ask for a product.

Here is my product... Here is my price... Buy It Now, or go find something else to buy...
It never fails that when I put out a product, someone will come along and chastise me for asking so much for my product... Even if the product I am offering is priced less than a pizza from Domino's Pizza...

In essence, people are telling me that I should drop my prices, because they are "cheap *******s that value nothing at a fair market value." :p

I laugh and think about sending them something like this:

/rant

#cheap #cheapskates #dare #fair market value #marketing #product #products

Yep. I find the same with some writing clients.
It seems that they want the perfect 500 word article that passes Copyscape and is proofread and checked for grammar and is 100% good English...and they want it done within a couple of hours but only want to pay $5.

When will people learn that you pay for quality and you get it. You pay for s### and that's what you get.

I hear you, some people are cheapskates and always want to penny pinch. Some people would happily pay more and then there are some who want to pay a couple bucks because they paid a couple bucks for somebody else's product. I look at the benefits and then judge from what solution purchasing your product will bring me. I don't really look at price tag if its necessary for me to have to save time or money.

Truth. I build custom animations and video and everyone expects it all to be at fiver prices. This is why I focus on offline vs. online for video. When customers come in your office, they see your actual brick and mortar local, your cameras your editing equipment and your coworkers, they don't have a problem paying real money for video. When all they see is a website and dozen other people willing to do the same and more for 5-20 bucks, they can't understand spending a couple of hundred on a video that they will use for infinity (ROI gets pretty low yah?). You have to go where the money is.

I haven't had anyone say my products are priced to high. I have had some, let me say, people of certain nationalities think they can bargain with me.

Maybe you are not building up the value of your product enough, Bill. Something to look at if this happens every time.

It is not an "all the time" thing, but it has happened a few times.

You are however making a valid point, and sometimes I am guilty of underselling my products.

I know what you mean. I've had a product that I priced but got the opposite response. I had 4 affiliates complain that they loved my product and I wasn't charging enough. I can take a hint. I bumped up the price, actually made more sales due to perceived value and had a lot of happy affiliates. On the flip side, I've experienced exactly what you said as well.

Final Thought: Can't win em all! Can't please everyone!

"TAKE ACTION" is the first thing everyone tells you and then they leave it at that. I'll add a second part: TRACK EVERYTHING" - It's the only way to ensure your ACTION leads to results.

The WSO section has perpetuated this mentality.

At one time the prices were higher and the products were generally better than a lot are now. The market in there is looking For Walmart prices.

I find my own subscribers have no issue paying a lot more for quality products. So most I don't release as WSO's unless I am offering my list a low cost product.

I have even had this problem offline. Seriously, I'll offer my services for a period of time for free as a trial with NO OBLIGATION, and people will complain and actually be rude to me if they don't get the results they dreamed of. I tell them that our services don't work as well for every single type of business, and that's why we offer the trial period to see if it will work for them.

But I'm like, "You know I've just given you free service, asking nothing in return, and you're complaining to me about it?"

Reminds me of the kind of person who will download a movie for free from a torrent site and then complain that it was a terrible movie.

You didn't even pay for it! How terrible could it really be?

They usually chime back with a "well it wasn't worth MY time."

So you fail to actually PAY for something and then want to put a "value" on your time?

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

what is they say cheapen the price cheapen the product?! its true that with money tight people are looking for a bargain that is quality but too often if something is so cheap that it looks to good to be tru it probably is. WSO are great for getting quality products at a good price. The key is to value your time, your product, and your future business and price your product from there, for everyone who doesnt want to or cant afford to pay that price there will be someone who can

I have experienced the same thing with software..

How can a customer know what the development costs were for any product, or what profit margins make up my business, or my over heads and running costs..

    The price is the price.

The WSO section has a real problem with people leaving an opinion on a thread about general marketing ideals, such as OTOs or upsells.

The analogy I always give is that if you were walking past a shop and saw a product in the window that you DID NOT like would you feel the need to go in and tell the product owner...or just move the hell on to the next shop!

    And breathe...

I think there is a little magic price point, beyond which people expect to pay more for quality...

I have had products within the $10-$30 range which people always expect to get for free.

But, strangely I have a $87/month upcoming launch, and I have many people trying to pay me already in order to get onto it.

Yes, ok this product is damn good, but I think it also has a lot to do with this magic price point with online marketing, beyond which the marketers get serious and you lose the 'bargain hunters'.

      I agree with MichaelHiles:
Price is a great filter to get rid of the kinds of clients you don't want.

and although I do believe although there was no real loss in the original OP's reply (just a bit of fun I guess) - I on the other hand always try to treat my clients as potential future customers, and would not try to offend them - even when it is just harmless fun.
