Taking it to the next level . . .

I have been doing IM for a little over 2 years now. But I feel like I am stagnating. I average around $20 per day in Adsense and about the same in Amazon commission. Since January 1, my earnings have been around $9000. But I would like my earnings to be that much per MONTH - not year.

Any advice how to take it to the next level. Or if anyone has been able to take their Adsense/Amazon earnings to that type of income can you boost my confidence?

FYI - I have around 30 sites and I am weeding out the poor performing ones as the come up for renewal. I am working on building out my content, but I average around 18 pages of content on each site - with the high being closer to 60 pages and the low around 6. I do not build spammy links, but do social bookmarking via SocialMonkee and use article marketing. I do occasionally throw a scrapbox or xrumer blast at my article links.

Thanks for your help!

ScrapGilr this probably isn't what you will hear typically in the way of advice but why not take your online expertise and go offline?

btw it would not interfere with your existing Adsense business at all.

Start contacting local businesees that would benefit from your skillset. I can tell you this kind of action would probably raise your income substantially. ..and if you can get enough traffic offer to bring them leads on a shared basis. ...and install affiliate links on those sites as well.

You should always try to flip the poor performers if you think they have potential but you just haven't built them properly. Don't just give up an asset.

Also, what is stopping you from repeating the success that you have with your good sites and scaling up that way?

I have thought about selling the poor performers but I wonder how sites are selling these days. I sold a couple a year ago and they went for a couple of hundred dollars. But I don't want the hassle of listing and moving a site if I only net 20 bucks.

As far as rinse and repeat, I am working on that as well. I work full time in addition to my IM stuff so I have limited time. I have a set schedule for what sites to work on each evening, and I am squeezing time in for more sites as I can. I know that is key. My lack of time is part of the reason I want to streamline and only keep the profitable sites.

Go look up John Jonas for outsourcing and scaling up your work. He is the king of scaling up business models like yours. You can get phillipino workers to do all of the every day tasks that you are doing. They work for as cheap as $1.50 per hour. I'm talking 300-400 per month is there average for 40 hours of work. You will need to train them so getting a screen capture so you can record your every day tasks will be a good training tool. That is my 2 cents in that area.

For selling websites, don't target businesses that are already been occupied by online trends like for example, real state, gadgets, and computers. Try to present or introduce the use of websites to the ones that are not yet fully occupied by internet, like for example, vegetables store, garden houses, fish stores (ones that sell gold fish and other aquatic pets), and many more, those are usually the kinds of businesses that are not yet using internet (though not all).

However, expect a low income at first. But believe me it will soon be a good source of income!

Maybe cut down on the quantity of content and focus on the quality of content. Good content solves lots of problems.

Think about pride of ownership for a minute.

Running sites to generate clicks for Google or Amazon might spin you a few bucks every month, but who is making the most money from your efforts? - it isn't you.

And these websites that you own, how do you feel about them? You've put your time and energy into them but they don't really have a heart and soul, there's no emotional attachment, they're just funnels to send people to Google and amazon.

So what about investing in your own product. Not some gimmicky eBook that's been sold in 200 different guises by 10,000,000 marketers, but a real product with real value to the end user.
Develop a product you can be proud of and have an emotional attachment to. If you find something with a 'repeat-order' customer in mind, you won't have to be continually chasing people through your websites just to stay at the same level of business.

With one of my businesses I sell a small range of vitamin supplements, in a very niche sector. They're sold under my own name, label etc. I formulated the products myself and have them made for me by an FDA licensed facility. I could block all new visitor access to my website and still have a great business from the people who come back and buy from me every month.

It can be anything so long as it's something you can touch/feel, people benefit from it and they need to buy from you more than one time. You can work direct with a private label company who'll drop-ship the product to your customers, so you won't have to worry about storage and shipping. You'll be building your own brand, a real business on a solid foundation.

I know most people will disagree with me and that this isn't the typical route for an IM. But it's just a thought.

What you need to do is look into finding affiliate programs with recurring billing so that you make more than one commission for each sale you make.

Don't get me wrong, making one time sales is still great but when you start getting sales that get billed monthly then you will find your income growing rapidly.

I agree that some of my sites are just a means to make money, but several are a part of me and I find myself putting a lot more into them than the others. I have thought about writing my own ebook about one of the topics I am passionate about, but I have this fear about creating my own product

I know people make several hundred dollars per day on both amazon and adsense. That is where I want to go right now. Maybe in the future I will create that project

Here's some practical guide to push you to any level you want:
    1. know where you are right now (the daily/ monthly income)
    2. set where you want to be (the next target of daily/ monthly income)
    3. plan real action plan on how you can get there (like making more website with 10,000 unique visitors , etc)

YOu know what I mean, and I've found this as super effective when you do it with focus.

Goals are good! I have them in my head - I think I need to write them down

    Hi!

The next level is creating your own sub. list and getting people to regularly purchase the items you're promoting.

I think that once you have a few 10k subscribers you'll have no problem reaching such numbers as $9k a month.

This is my problem, I don't know the first thing about building a list. Plus, almost all my sites are product related. I only have two information sites. How can a list help me if I am reviewing physical products and directing them to Amazon?

While I really agree with making your own product and most things others have said.

You do have a good business model that is easily scalable with the right processes and outsourcers in place. You don't need to spend much on training to figure out how to do this either.

Look at all your mundane - day to day tasks.

Next time you do one of these tasks, make a video - there is a free screen video capture tool available called CamStudio which works great.

Build yourself a quick and dirty wordpress blog and use s2Member membership script (also free) to control which users have access to which pages.

Now go and hire someone on odesk or whereever, give them access to your training video and have them do that task from then on. Chances are they'll be able to do other things for you as you add them as well.

You may have to go through a few people before you find someone who does a good job but since you've got the video training setup it's a pretty painless process.

Every time you happen across one of those tasks in your day to day operation: Rinse and repeat - soon you'll have a LOT more free time and you'll really feel in control of a whole "machine" as opposed to just doing a bunch of grunt work on each site little by little.

Then as you scale and start to make more money - reinvest in other areas such as product creation, et all... Enjoy it!
