Does 20$ for PPC testing campaign enough?

Hi Folks,

I think here are people with many years experience in PPC industry.

I want to ask if 20$ for PPC testing campaign when we are paying
0.05$ per click enough to be sure it is "good" or "not good" to say?

I am going to use bidvertiser PPC network service

It is money making niche and product cost 50$.

Thanks
Tadas

No! that would even cover an hour on any decent keyword and your very unlikely to get clicks at 5p

Well, if you get $0.05 clicks (no guarantee you will), I suppose it COULD be enough (depending on what you are testing) as it would generate 400 clicks.

That said, I would never suggest $20. To be honest, there really is no set amount. You simply need enough to test through all days of the week at all different times via many different keywords and landing pages. There are just so many variables, it's hard to put a number on it.

I normally test minimum 500 clicks more often 900-1000 in a new test niche..

money wise though it does depends on your cost per click.. for the amount to spend

It could be, but you'll need to be a bit lucky, as well, over its reliability. In principle, 1,000 clicks is really a far better indicator than the 400 you're referring to.

Not to mention what times of day are best. Different times of day produce different demographics. You may run a test of 400 (or 1000) clicks that you get all during the 8am-5pm timeframe during the week. What happens on the weekends? What happens overnight? The more money you have to spend, the better.

It would come from one of famouse PPC network not directly on google. I also see that
there are not big competition in that network and I think to set 5$ a day for 4 days to test to get those click it would be fast clicks delivered.

Also thanks for those advices about the hours to test. The visitor would be sent to simple landing page with autoplay video - that is already tested capture page and bring leads and sales. I am going to run the campaign next week.

And in theory because 1 lead worth 1$ a month I expect at least
    20 leads per 20$, per 400clicks.

Also depends if $0.05 is the CPC or the suggested bid. In the latter case, the real CPC may be anything between $0.01 and $0.05, so effectively there may be more than 400 clicks.

From my experience $20 should be enough to see if the campaign is promising or not at least. I know 1000 is some magic number many stick to, but if we assume conversions (which in this time is to get people on the list) at 5% as f5mtadas assumes, 20 people would be a maxed-out result, and 10 (2.5%) should be an indicator that the campaign is worth running. Anything below 2%, on the other hand, would make me re-consider.

For that matter, I'd observe the trends first, and launch the campaign in the peak time for that kind.

On the side note, when I was doing facebook PPC, $5-$10 was just enough to know if we have a winner or a bummer.

thanks for sharing your experience, I am going to run the campaign on bidvertiser.com PPC network, but I am interesting on FB PPC too, may I will
try that later, because I want to figure out how it will work out first.

I am also going to use two seperate text ad for the same capture page - I think two seperate PPC text ad campaigns would indicate it good or not better.

No way, you need to have a bigger budget to fully test the keywords otherwise you'll end up spreading $20 over loads of keywords and not getting enough data to work on.

That depends. If you'd get at least 500 visits for $20 that would be enough.

i would say, if u can get 0.05 per click then u can come back and ask.

because i doubt u can get that. =)

having said that, generally, $20 is not enough.

    period.

If the account is still new, spend $10, buy a $100 voucher online and then just use that up.

Technically you should have a new Adwords account per domain.

Just my two cents, if you are wanting to test, 7Search seems to do well for our business. While it is classified as a "2nd Tier" PPC provider, we have experienced really good results with them. On some keywords, we are able to bid .01/click simple because other people are bidding on them.

      Hi,

You need at least $300 for a decent result and ability to analyze the worth of your targeted traffic.

You won't get very far with Yahoo, Adwords and FB with $300 if you're competing space around HOT niches.

If you go for tier-two channels, you really have to be choosy to see results.

Try CPM for starters or PPV instead.

there is one trick to testing that can help you here.

remember you are biding on CLICKS not impressions.

there is a lot of insight you can gain about your market with the impressions.

my advice... set up a few different ads, banners, whatever... make them very different... ie. Secrets To Clickbank Profits, How To Do Affiliate Marketing, Ect.

whichever one gets the most clicks will tell you a little something about that market.

design your whole process around that data and you can test really inexpensively.

That exactly what I am going to do, but as one guy already mentioned in this thread that different time get differnt results: weekends, nights, days and so on, so lets see how it will work you, I am going to test next week.

    • As someone who has tested many ads over the same set of keywords, I can tell you you'll get wildly different conversion rates.

The traditional way to start a campaign is to pit two ads against each other and track conversions. Keep the winner, discard the loser and pit a third ad against the winner. Lather, rinse, repeat.

This took me most of a year to get meaningful results. Most people use way too small a sample.

Thanks I know the technique and I was using that in other market places, but here some problem - ad get generate many clicks but much less
opt-ins or few clicks - but few opt ins too

I also think one paid sign up per 10 leads is good rate. I also understand
that if the ads generate much more clicks than leads - there are something problem with text or banner in that ad, does't it?

It is very important how text ad or banner ad are linked with the site content - if you lie nobody will even optin or buy from you.
