Hi,

Domaining interests me but reading different blogs I get the impression that you need a fair bit of money to make money and then with only the right contacts.

Have I got this wrong? Is it more of an attitude more than a reality?

I'd welcome your thoughts

  • It's more of an investment. To make decent money you have to start out with seasoned domains. Meaning that they already have good PR, or a catchy name, or tons of backlinks. These seasoned domains are not cheap and once you buy them, who knows how long they will sit before they sell.

    • How do you go about choosing these seasoned domains?

  • You have to look at it as a investment, and you can scale your investment to how much money you want to make. If your do not have a million to put down for MacDonald, you just figure away you are going to get the money, and do not drop the dream of owning the business, if you want. You will come up with the money eventually. In the IM industry for the last 5 years, I am a newbie in Domaining industry, but I did some research on the internet, contacted a few people, talked to people in the know what is going on in the Domaining sector of IM, I am taking a course teaching me a few things, and my cost is about 400 dollars and they recommend that in my bank account for money keep about 200 dollars for my expenses. Now I dropped 100,000 years ago to buy a bakery, one year later, I was bankrupt, and 250,00 in the hole. Sure wish I knew at Im Marketing then. From what I see I will never get near to dropping $100,000 for start in IM.
  • if you have little money you will need to hand register your domains and then wait 4-5-6 years till they mature. no easy riches, takes years to learn and understand.

you can buy nicer names for $60+ plus at drop companies after some research.

  • It's pretty much all in the planning. You can do a lot more with a lot less than most people if you get creative with your process.

Being frugal is always good, and in the beginning it can be a necessity.
  • Personally this isn't something I'd get into if I was a newbie at Internet Marketing, I would go with Affiliate Marketing or Email Marketing. There a lot easier and cheaper to get started with, well not easy, it can be easy if you have a good teacher. Nothing In Life is Hard, It's just the people that make it hard

But if you wan't get into domains go for it But learn about it first, you need to be educated before you can make money online, after you are educated, implement

    • Last few days I have read bits and pieces about Trademark names. Does this apply to personal names that aren't trademarks or bought before they were trademarks
  • You'll need to envision what will be trendy in the future. This how you can buy domains today for peanuts and sell them in 2 years for high profit!
