How A Pregnant Mom Of {Almost 3} FINALLY Replaced Her Income

Hey all!

As I was thinking about the past year I realized that I have come a LONG way. At the start of the year I was earning money but it was inconsistent and I had a long way to get to where I wanted to be. So I set a goal to make $4-5K per month by the time the baby was born in Aug...and I did it (prego and all)!

I almost can't believe it because I had struggled for so long to make a consistent amount of decent income. I wanted to give a little more insight into why now and why the success especially for those who are struggling with making a consistent income.

1. Motivator. I really, really believe you have to have a strong motivator. While money is a strong motivator it has to be something else too. For me it was (is) my family and that fact that I want (desperately) to create my own schedule working when I want to work. How hungry are you? How bad do you want it?

2. Mindset. You MUST pick one biz model and go after it with all you got. This is REALLY much hard to do then I ever thought. You will feel like something else is greener or that you're missing out on something but you have to push past that feeling. For me, I chose to focus on my PLR business. There are many, many other things that I could have done but this biz model was what I decided to focus on because I was already earning some money AND it was more passive. Once you create PLR you can continue to sell it over and over again.

3. Goal Setting. Set BIG goals and smaller ones too. One of the best things I started doing was setting a monthly monetary goal. Once I did that it seemed like I was able to meet and exceed it each month. It's something I can track. If I'm not hitting my target then I have get creative and think about what I need to do. This has actually been really fun.

Those are just a few things off the top of my head that I feel were really fundamental in helping me get over and past the stage of struggling. I still have a long way to go but I'm finally seeing some major progress!

    I think the best thing one must possess is mostly persistence and self-discipline. Most people jump from one idea to the next, without implementing anything.

    I personally know people who start 10+ websites at the same time. That's nuts! Dealing with one thing at a time until it is complete is the name of the game!

      OMG that person who starts 10+ websites at the same time was totally me!! I found (and still do sometimes) it hard to focus one thing at a time. But I now know that I have to slow down and do one thing at a time. I have to tell myself that I can do all the things I want to do..but just not at the SAME time!

        Well, you can have other sites working simultaneously, but you need outsource workers to maintain them.

        Having a site is like a car. If one part is missing, the whole thing won't work. Example, if you do not have traffic, there's no conversions. If you do not have the offer, you can't sell your products, etc. It's all linked together.

        Having a website is a system. That's why working on a single site at a time is key. You know this, unfortunately, you've learned it in the hard way :-)

        Starting 10+ websites at a time IS focusing on one business model and "one thing" at a time when you have a method that works...

        Scaling up is a HUGE part of achieving income goals, and this is how I reached the 5k+/month mark...Find a method, scale it up, and stick to it.

    I think that you've listed the best points here. I think that many people are looking for that magic answer to create a successful business but it really does come down to the points that you've listed.

    I think it's always good to set goals so that you've got something to focus on and something to measure. It's not easy to get somewhere with any sort of determination if you're not sure where it is you're going and what you're heading for.

    I like how you've chosen to pursue one business model at a time - it's a great way to stay focused and organized. You don't need to have multiple business models if you're going to give that one business model everything you've got.

    This year, I've come to the realization that it's great to choose something, stick to it and give it 100%. That's all you really need. The next step is to not get distracted along the way!

      Yes Nathan I totally agree about not getting distracted along the way! That is another great point. It's important to know that you will get distracted and it's what you do with that distraction that determines success.

      I was one who was looking for that magic solution - that one thing that was going to make me successful. But it's not ONE thing and there's no magic button. It's actually a bunch of little successes that make you successful. And the fact that you don't give up and you keep trying and doing different things.

      Hey Daniel, I create and sell PLR content. I build email lists in my market and give them quality PLR. I also have a PLR store and membership sites. No system just basic supply and demand principles at work!

      Great advice too.

      About starting 10 websites... I wouldn't totally knock that, now that we can clone WP sites in minutes - There IS a place for niche sites and resell sites.

      Plus some of them are little niche sites that don't take much work and upkeep, so adding one of those every once in a while could be okay as long as people don't get side-tracked from their main biz.

      And then there's the 5 bucks model, for example ;-)

      Staying focused on the main biz really is definitely important though, and I need to do a better job with that...

        Hey Elisabeth! Yeah I was building small sites when I would put up 10+ but it never was something that I liked doing and wasn't a big earner. I'm sure that's because I didn't always do the backlinking that I needed to do. That brings me to another point. You have to enjoy what you're doing for long term success!

            I too have found that when I concentrate on one income stream at a time I do better. Otherwise, I get so scattered that I don't get anything finished and, therefore, make no money.

              I am the same way...I get scattered and then I have to say OK what am I trying to accomplish here? What do I need to get done right now that will take me closer to my goal? It's a battle and a process!

                I believe the secret is in the doing, just do it! Inaction, lack of focus and discipline are some of the causes of failure.

                Of course jumping from product to product, guru to guru. If you ask any successful marketer out there their answer will be more or less the same, this business is plain simple unfortunately we complicate things ourselves!

    exactly. I contribute mindset to more than 90% of my success. It is one of the most important elements to achieving great things.

    Even if you are following a golden map to success a poor mindset will prevent you from achieving anything. It's easy to see this at the highest levels of success.

    All of the wealthiest people in the world focus on their mindset first and everything else is secondary.

      I love how your thread is all about mindset, I was just sharing similar thoughts with my father a couple of days ago. It doesn't matter how smart you are, how talented you are, or how much education you have - it all comes down to mindset.

      The statistic of self-employed people in all the major categories always seems to add up to 95% failing (stock investing, IM, Real Estate, and so on). And I think that's because 95% don't have the mindset... as others mentioned here, persistence and discipline are huge, and also, confidence and belief, just knowing-ness that you have set your mind to it and you will make it happen. Others have, and you can too.

      I have been in the IM game off and on for over a decade... But I never had the mindset that was needed to have more than trickles of income or occasional flash in the pan successes.

      But a couple of months ago, I quit smoking, and a few weeks ago, I cut sugar and wheat and dairy out of my diet... and I can't believe the difference it made in my mindset. I think that one of the reasons the 95% fail is because their minds are so deteriorated by the pollutants in their body, from toxic food, addictions and allergies. Thinking tends to be foggy, unfocused, confused, mildly depressed and so on. Remove the irritants, and it's amazing, like wiping off a cloudy mirror...

      I read in a book about hypoglycemia that when people had cured themselves of blood sugar swings, they couldn't recognize themselves - like they were a whole new person in mid-life. It's amazing how the mind, mood and personality can be so deeply impacted by something so simple as our eating habits.

      My moral - for those not blessed with the genetics to be able to have a clear mind no matter what you put in your body - eat healthy as a contributing factor to success!

      PS I'm a busy Mom of a preschooler too!

        So true...your health is a big success factor. And you are what you eat. When you are healthy your mind is definitely clearer. I need to focus on eating better too!

    I am a Dad of Three. And yeah, i am making money, and it took me three years to achieve it. Focus is the main step to learn in trying to do it.

    And now, i have the way to pay bills, before they get on top of me. Take my kids where ever they want. Buy Birthday and Christmas presents they want. But, i am still teaching them the all important lesson - if you want something, you go out and get it.

    Very inspirational. The one thing I really notice about your story is that your goals are so realistic and obtainable. I think that's a very important part of the puzzle of success. If you go on about things and set wild goals and don't meet them it throws your entire mindset off.       I agree. You have to set realistic goals and then keep setting the bar higher. Some people might not agree, but if I'm only making $500 a month I'm not going to set a goal to make $10K next month UNLESS I know what I'm doing and have a way to make it. Most people making $500-1K per month just don't have the means to do that yet. But if you keep going and growing it won't be long until you can make $10K, $50K, $100K per month your goal.

    Congratulations. You learned what it has taken me almost four years to learn. Focus is key. And the fact is, you are right. Other things are passing you by, but once you learn to block them out, you can achieve success. Your business model almost seems too simple. Others may see it and think, okay....I gotta do PLR and that is where we can get into trouble. When I think about the times I have done best, it is to focus on one business model at a time and ride it as long as I could.

      Hey CT! You are so right on...someone might think that it's too simple and want to do it too but it took me months of consistently trying new things and finding out what was working and increasing that. And prior to the start of this year it actually took me a couple of years of trying things and going around in circles to get to this point. So I'm asking myself why did it take this long LOL. That's where the mindset stuff comes into play and why it's so important.

    Congrats! You're absolutely right, it's better to go after one thing with all you've got instead of focusing on 100 different things and not getting nothing done. Your story is a motivator in itself. Information paralysis is a newbs worst nightmare and unfortunately it bites almost 100% of the time.

    Exactly. You have to focus. You can't do too much all at once! You need to focus on one or two things and really give it YOUR ALL! Then you will succeed! Everyone's jumping toward that new shiny object instead of focusing their attention on the goals they've already set. We need to start accomplishing OUR goals. not the goals of some guru or boss
