What is your favorite FREE traffic method for a squeeze page?

People manage to be banned from all sorts of things/places/services, by not taking care over the terms of service, don't they?

As with anything else, there's a bit of a learning-curve: marketers, in particular, have to learn "how to play the game" there.

I've had some very good, targeted, buying traffic from Yahoo Answers, in several niches.

But my own favourite free traffic-generation method, by far, is article syndication in ezines with already-targeted subscribers: that can bring you floods of highly targeted traffic really quickly, at no cost at all.

With YA the conversion ratio would be much higher than anything else. Because most of the traffic (users) are looking for an answer there, and you have to pick it up as your opportunity.

Yes they do ban user when there is more than spam links other than real answer. And in my opinion it increases the effectiveness of YA to generate quality traffic.

Ad swaps are a great way of getting tons of opt ins fast. Of course you can only use them rarely and you need a list of your own to trade with.

The problem with other free sources of subscribers is that they aren't really free at all. Instead of paying money to build a list, you are paying with loads of your time. The good thing is that if you do it correctly then the opt ins can become passive over time. Forum sigs and social media have been the most effective for me.

The best way is through JV partners. You can customize the squeeze page that's related to the list owner. It has $0 cost, no risk from your side, and it grows your subscribers tremendously overnight! :-)

PPC is another way, but it can be used for only testing, not driving massive loads of traffic, since 80% of the money on PPC is usually wasted, even if you have a good conversion page. It depends on the quality of the ad and the targeted traffic that's going through this squeeze page.

To echo B and B - I've found that ad swaps are a great way to get traffic to a squeeze page, build your own list and also generate ongoing relationships with fellow list owners in your niche.

A little (virtual) leg work is involved to seek out potential ad swap partners though the long-term benefits can be significant.

Definitely SEO or Yahoo Answers.

With Y! Answers, try to get a level 2 account, so you can start posting live links. Just don't over do it, or you will get banned.

For free traffic I use facebook and different forums. Also, I usually post honest comments on high traffic blogs. All these methods work well for me.

Twitter is a great way. Find gurus in your niche, and follow their followers, no more than 50 per day to avoid getting banned, and some of them will follow you back. Send them links to your squeeze page and viola, you can grow your list quickly this way.

The key to traffic generation is being consistent....the more consistent you are the more traffic you generate.....

  Building traffic using craigslist is actually very simple once you have a nicely designed picture that draws people in and they can click it and they will be redirected to your website.

Guest Blogging is the trend in 2011 and it allowed me to build a 10k+ Visitors/Month blog that generating fiver figures for now , so surely Guest Blogging is an easy way to get traffic especially FAME

Pretty much all the traffic i send to squeeze is through swapping ads. I have tried Yahoo answers but i think they have tightened their belts a lot recently as they were over run by spammers, so be vigilant when using YA, it is much easier to get banned these days but the traffic quality is pretty good from what i remember.

Not tried twitter for traffic generating as yet, but i am hearing it more and more. I'd be interested in exploring this in future.

Making good comments on relevant blogs and with a link back to your site work well for me. Just make sure your comments are relevant and add something to the blog post. Most blog owners are delighted to get a real comment, given the amount of automated spam they receive.

I'm with Andy - blogs are the fastest way to get SEO position and generate traffic, transitioning that traffic to a squeeze page then is done through a combination of sidebar links and in-post links.

I would say at the moment social media is the best way to drive traffic to your squeeze page. Article marketing does work - over time. If you right a good article it can go viral causing many to see your link.

I do like the simple rub your back- I'll rub yours with Ad & Banner swaps. There is a Warrior Forum here that you can do this along with backlink swaps. Check it out!

Of course, I like using my sig line too

My Favorite way is to act like a tornado and hit everything I come across. All the top websites. I go to Alexa to get ideals. Look at the top sites, I Google top websites too. Most people just write down the top 10 websites and go hard on the top 10. When you think of top, you tube, Facebook, twitter, Flickr, yelp you get the point.

This will take time and effort, and it depends on the type of niche your targeting, but I get some great results from traffic exchanges and safelists. They tend to get a bad press here, but if you take the time to learn how they work and the correct way to promote yourself it can be rewarding.
