US authorities have initiated the largest round of domain name seizures yet as part of their continued crackdown on counterfeit and piracy-related websites. With just a few days to go until "Cyber Monday" more than 100 domain names have been taken over by the feds to protect the commercial interests of US companies. The seizures are disputable, as the SOPA bill which aims to specifically legitimize such actions is still pending in Congress.

It seems they are focusing more on copyright infringement than warez, drugs, or illegal activities sites. Corporate interest first. If you have domain names that include corporate interests I would be wary of SOPA passing.

    It's where the money is.

Strangely 73 of the 131 domains are Jersey sites, what's will be up next.

I recall something about the English gov. shutting down some 400 ugg boot sites that were using .com.uk domains, embarrassing for Google they had gotten ranking by spamming Chinese government sites.

Some domains seized for brand name copyright violation end up having anti-counterfeit public education material put on the site, like this one highreplica.com
