clickbank is consider best for the newbies for the following reasons :
    Easy to understand
Pay more commission as compare to amazon
click bank offer 50% to 75% commission but in case of amazon you will hardly found so or may no be possible in amazon
    ...................................
    ...................................
at last but not least - my experience says click bank is the best
    ...............................
suggestion for you if you would like to hear -
try paydotcom this is the best and i suggest more likely to use it then click bank because click bank send you check but in case of paydotcom you will directly paid in to your paypal account
    .............................................
    limitation of paydotcom over clickbank-
paydotcom have less number of product to promote then clickbank but over this limitation i am happy with paydotcom
    thanks dear

I agree that ClickBank is easier due to higher commissions but Amazon tends to have higher conversion rates due to the high trust in that site. If you're selling high-ticket items then Amazon can also grow to be quite profitable too.

I agree... I would go with Amazon... commissions may be lower but conversions are much higher due to credibility and trust... they also offer more affiliate tools... physical products tend to sell better too...

But my one question is... why does it have to be "either or"... why not do both and see what works for you... I pretty much try everything and so far, Clickbank has been my worst program for conversions.... may drop them altogether... there's too many better options out there...

Another route you may want to take for affiliate marketing is Viglink or Skimlinks.... I've been having good success with Skimlinks... and added it to all my sites just for the hell of it... it covers those programs where I don't have any direct affiliation... so as you can see, I pretty much use all of them...

I think it's easier to make sales with Amazon, my conversions are always higher it's just that the product commission is generally lower. Of course that depends on how much the product you're selling costs.

If I was starting out, I think I'd start with Amazon. I think it's easier to find low hanging fruit, make sales, get experience and then start to scale and roll out. I think every Amazon site I've ever made has made sales but not every Clickbank one has.

I have to say Clickbank. I have not had much success with Amazon. The offer pages at Clickbank are meant to convert. For Amazon, its a different story as potential buyers get quickly distracted by the somewhat messy layout of Amazon.

That's right! And if you send them to Amazon, they do not have a lot of marketing there. So if the people you send are NOT willing or ready to buy, they'll miss the opportunity.

Clickbank has more marketing input into it, depending on the product you are promoting.

Years ago I would have said Clickbank. I gave up on CB unless I know the vendor. It takes days to sift through the garbage to find a good product. It is easy to spot the newbies with the bad marketing of bad CB products. There are exceptions of course so you might do great.

My vote is for Amazon. It is easier for a newbie to find a product they know something about and make sales. You don't even need to know much about marketing right away. Just start writing. Well, there is more to it than that but you get the idea.

There are some great WSO's for Amazon that have stood the test of time and still work.

When i started out i was told to go with Amazon because it's easier to covert traffic. Personally (and this is only my personal opinion) i don't think it makes any difference. The learning curve at the start is to get your keywords to the top of Google. So in my opinion it makes no difference what converts better. if you can get high rankings with your sites then you can build on that knowledge and go in any direction you want.

Amazon for me has too low of a commission so i switched to clickbank and made a lot more money. you can sell clickbank products easy if you target the right people and create quality content that solves their problems.

The only physical products i promote these days are health products. The commission is high and the targeted traffic are desperate for a solution.

Whatever route you take will be irrelevant because your goal is to get to the top of Google, when you master that, you can promote whatever the hell you like.

    Just my 2 cents...

I'm an affiliate of both, but I don't think there's a "right answer" to this question.

I think ClickBank will be better for some newbies and Amazon better for others, depending on their own developing skill-sets and especially on the reliability and quality of the information they use, to get them started.

I strongly suspect that, overall, a higher proportion of "Amazon information" is reliable or semi-reliable than is the case for "ClickBank information", much of which I know to be grotesquely misguided and/or based on factual mistakes and misapprehensions. So that may tip the balance, for some people, in Amazon's favor.

Amazon is easier to get conversions just because of the incredible name recognition so its good for newbies. In the long run Clickbank is more profitable (for me anyway) as I find it hard to get excited about commissions that are only a few cents each.

I am going to say Amazon because I really believe it. but why not combine the 2 and do Amazon and then find a related product on Clickbank and add that to your Amazon site.

    For example

    Kickin it on Amazon

Both in my view. Get top Google ranking for a "Product Name" with good traffic and low competition. Write a review on the Product - say Squidoo Lens. Do some SEO to get #1 in Google and job done!

Would say though with Amazon pick on high price products to ensure you get a worthwhile amount of commission from each sale.

    Good luck!

      I went for Clickbank.

Simple reason being, if you sold 3 cheapish products per day you could still come out with £1000 p/m.

That's only 90 products per month. Now you could just scale up.

You could also use PPC creating a free report and building a list. Sure you could do it with Amazon but there's less commission.

Also, best now to start learning how to nurture a list. Same again, you can do it with Amazon but cheaper commission.

Plus, in theory, you need much less visitors to make money, that's assuming the niche/product/sales funnel is all up to scratch.

I did the same, for the same reason, when I started.

I didn't know then that Amazon conversion-rates could easily be ten times as high.

And there were a lot of other things I didn't know, too.

I depended on "widely available information" about ClickBank for my learning-curve, and as a result, I earned almost nothing for my first 3-4 months.

I'm not criticising ClickBank for that, and I do now make my full-time living as a ClickBank affiliate, having persisted a lot and learned a lot of stuff under circumstances in which many people would have given up (and do give up).

That's a problem people don't typically have to anything like the same extent with Amazon - and especially not with people like Gaz Cooper (above) around to put them right about stuff when they're starting off. I'm "just saying".

I'm not convinced about that, myself ...

A couple of months ago I started promoting some Amazon stuff, too, only in a couple of my niches, and I can hardly believe how well it converts, compared with ClickBank. It's not a "big thing" for my business at all, it's only 5% of my income, if that, but by comparison it seems so easy ...

I don't really agree with this, either: I sell about 500 CB products per month and have a tiny refund-rate. It all depends how you pre-sell the products. And the quality and reputation of the sellers is something you obviously have to check as one of the basics of your CB product-selection, because you're attaching your reputation to theirs, by promoting their products to your subscribers. I take your point that with Amazon you don't need to worry about that in quite the same way, though, of course.

Well if I compare the product I'm selling just now with the version on Clickbank (with bonus) and the version on Amazon, ten times as high isn't enough :p

I guess it depends what kind of websites you like to do. I know some people like 50 sniper sites but I just couldn't do it, so maybe I'm bias.

That being said, I do know the power of Amazon and I WILL be using both.

I don't care for clickbank. High refund rate and you really don't know the quality or reputation of the sellers.

Amazon is very reputable, sells already known items to people and has things for sale in every niche imaginable and probably many you never even thought of.

You would be shocked by how much money was made in a single blog about specialized bird feeders!!!

However, I might add, that for newbies, there are many other options than just Amazon and clickbank.

If there is a product or service you enjoy yourself, you could be an affiliate of that program.

I also very much like and recommend commission junction. cj.com

I like to find less known niches that still have good google search volume and then find affiliate programs that are for monthly recurring products so that as you get clients, you build a monthly income recurring as you build your list.

One more thing about Amazon---there are some very high priced items that are selling a lot right now for Christmas and just one sale of those can make you a huge commission.

Also, throughout the year, you can sell high priced items on Amazon for some really good commissions.

This one is easy Clickbank all the way.

Way better payouts, plus they do not ban you based on where you live in the U.S.A.

Only positive I see with Amazon is the name which will be in your favor as an affiliate.

But you will have to sell a lot more Amazon products to equal 1 Clickbank sale.

Try both and see who you are making more money with and then go from there.

Per sale, in many cases, yes - though as people have pointed out, conversion rates can be, and often will be, many times higher with Amazon. The brand really smacks down any qualms people might have about shopping safely and securely online, and pretty much everyone who's ever shopped online for any length of time will have used (or will use) Amazon at some point.

Originally Posted by entrepreneurjay View Post

Totally entitled to your opinion, of course, but it sounds to me like your preference for Clickbank rests more on a certain personal prejudice against Amazon than on things which might apply to most people when weighing up the pros and cons.

People in states for which Amazon Associates might be "shut off" will have plenty of notice and thus ample time to swap out their links to those of other retailers, I would think? And this is (so far) a non-issue for those outside of the US, anyway.

Originally Posted by entrepreneurjay View Post

That's kind of a huge positive, though, when the "name" is the biggest cause of those huge conversion rates that potentially translate into far easier sales and greater revenue.

Originally Posted by entrepreneurjay View Post

Again, number of sales hardly matters if they're many times as high for the same amount of work. It'd be an entirely different story if doubling, tripling, quadrupling (or more) one's sales meant upping one's workload equivalently.

Just arguing the opposite side, is all. I promote products sold through both retailers.

I admit, as a full-time ClickBank affiliate marketer (who's recently started doing a little bit of Amazon affiliate marketing on the side), I voted for Amazon, here ... because I think, overall, its learning-curve probably makes is better for the "average newbie" (and the title does say "for a newbie").

I admit I didn't come to Amazon as a newbie. I came to ClickBank as a newbie (which was part of the reason I earned nothing for 4 months).

Originally Posted by entrepreneurjay View Post

That's a huge advantage, for sure. I actually see many other positives, as well as that, though (I mentioned some of them above).

Originally Posted by entrepreneurjay View Post

With the conversion-rates being so much higher, though, that doesn't typically mean that you'll need more traffic: it can just mean that more of your potential customers will turn into actual customers. That's certainly what I've been finding. And of course, another great advantage of that is that it makes it much quicker and eaiser to build buyers' lists, giving the affiliate a lot more "upsell potential", which is - after all - where the real money is, in our business.

Interesting thread, though. If you'd asked me a year and a half ago whether I'd be voting for Amazon on a poll question with this wording, I'd have thought it unlikely. We live and learn.

As a matter of preference, Clickbank has always been among the first offers when I'm starting a new niche. But as my lists grow and subscriber buying habits become established, introducing high end Amazon products into my promotions has proven to be a very effective marketing model. Initial sales with higher commissions as with Clickbank products will be considerably offset later by the much higher priced Amazon products, even though overall commission rates are lower.

If you are familiar with blogging and comfortable with creating blogs, Amazon is probably better in my opinion. It converts a lot better and will give you incentive to learn more. Clickbank is probably easier to sign up for. You don't even need a website. But IMO it's a little more involved trying to promote CB products compared to Amazon. With Amazon, for the most part, all you have to do is get them to the site and they'll do the selling for you.

I dont see it as an either/or question. In fact in many cases I would suggest combining both as a newbie in a niche where you can sell both information based products as well as physical products. You could do one low priced item as the initial sale and follow up with a high ticket item via autoresponder etc.

I agree with many others above that the quality of information hugely will influence which route you take and in the end like many others I started out selling on CB but I have to say made many mistakes along the way but I am sure I would have done the same if I had started with amazon too. I think the idea of one affiliate network somehow being easier than another needs to be avoided, on the whole its disinformation since every network has its plus and minus points and by just focussing on these 2 'big networks' you can very often be leaving a lot of money on the table.

Where do you want to be in 5 years?

What product do you want to be known for selling/being an expert in?

    Start with building your audience.

What large group of people care about what you have to say?

Nothing will work unless you develop your list first of people who care about what you have to say and what you have to offer. Okay maybe some things will work but why push a boulder up steep hill?

Both are ok. You can be successful at both. I guess it depends which program you prefer.

Clickbank gets a bad rap partly because many article directories and Google Adwords forbid Clickbank affiliate links. But they are legit and do offer refunds. I would carefully select what product you want to sell with CB, some are easier to sell than others.

For me I'm prefer Amazon due to these simple reason

1.You will not run out of niches
    2.Real time niche research
3.Keyword easily to predict with Google KW tool
    4.Real people reviews
    5.Easy to create content.

But I'm not totally discard CB infect you can go to CB to find related product with your Amazon niches to promote it all together.
