Did anyone use Google Knol

I just wondered if anyone used to use Google Knol as a "blogging" site to create backlinks.

I had a couple of original articles there with backlinks and, now that Knol is being discontinued, I wonder if it's best to post these articles on another site rather than move them to Annotum.org (the site that is picking up from the failed Knol product) which seems to be a more scholarly site?

I can't find the two articles I wrote with a plagiarism check so they seem to be original again.

I didn't use KNOL but I would advice putting the articles up somewhere else like you mentioned, can't you apply for wikipedia? And you think putting them on Annotum is not worth it?

    Hello Elion,

Actually, just after I posted this discussion I found my articles on Knol, so they're still there – they just haven't been indexed.

Knol will be officially discontinued on May 1, 2012.

As they haven't been indexed and Knol is closing down I think it might be better deleting them and taking them elsewhere.

They're not good enough for Wikipedia – I think they'd get deleted straightaway.

Maybe Annotum is worth it, I just don't know enough about it.

I did use Google Knol and posted quite a few articles. Google has discontinued quite a few projects such as Google sites that were used by quite a few people. I am going to move my articles.

Me too. I guess I'm going to put them into HubPages, Squidoo or WordPress.com sites

I've used Google knol to get backlinks for many of my review posts. Only one knol out of 16 was actually indexed by Google, which I find odd, since it is owned by Google. The one that did get indexed ranks very highly for a lot of keywords and has actually got about 200 visits since I made it a few months ago. So if you're knol does get indexed by Google, it can rank very highly right off the bat.

Its a nice web 2.0 property to create small sites for backlinks..Don't want google to discontinue it.
