I write press releases, articles and post on blogs to get most of my traffic. I try to stick with sites that's related to mine so I get targeted traffic. Best of all, it may take some time, but it's free.

Traffic online means to spread your website links across the whole net, web 2.0, articles, videos, podcasts, etc. Even with paid traffic, the concept is still the same: spread the website links across the net.

After Google wacked out Ezine Articles, my views went from 3,000-5,000 per month (almost 500 articles published) to 800-1000, and dropping.

What a wack they took! HubPages, ArticlesBase, Buzzle, GoArticles and others were also affected. I had at least 10 articles form Ezine on page 1 of Google for good keywords and now they are past page 10!

However, I get a ton of traffic from YouTube. I usually upload 1-2 slideshow tutorials and/or product reviews every day, and ALWAYS link to my squeeze page. I have almost 200 live vids, and I get anywhere from 30-50 subs per day just from YouTube.

If you know how to do keyword research, and how to inflate your YouTube views, likes, and comments using services like Viewet and Fiverr, you can get a TON of traffic from there.

Post your site on Facebook/Twitter/StumbleUpon, post comments on blogs that are RELEVANT to your niche and leave your link, answer questions on Y! Answers and leave your link, try some PPC/PPV campaigns (such as Adwords/7Search/etc)

There are millions of ways to drive traffic. You just want to make sure its targeted (people who are already interested in what you have to promote)

Now i am using a different technique that hasnt been mentioned in any posts yet, and i find it hard to believe that no other marketers are using it that are posting in this thread, so maybe it is meant to stay underground. Plus, how do I get ppl on twitter and facebook who will not just friend you and/or follow you, but ACTUALLY RESPOND TO YOUR POSTS/TWEETS AND INTERACT WITH YOU?? It seems to be from my experience that most ppl on twitter and facebook just follow you/friend you just so they can promote their stuff to you instead of actually building some sort of relationship. Anyone agree or disagree?

I'v learn a great strategy from Kim Roach on how to maximize the use of your articles

u can write up about 5 to 8 high quality articles and distribute it to those top Article Directories. (Article Marketing)

then, u can put together a report or ebook (depend on how many article and the length of those articles) then submit it to those ebook sharing websites.

after that, produce powerpoint slideshows base on the content of those articles and distribute it to slideshow sharing directories. eg. Upload & Share PowerPoint presentations and documents

produce videos with those slideshows by adding ur narration and.......yea...u can probably guess by now.......distribute it.....and u know where to rite? youtube for instance.

I think there r more ways to use ur articles.

u can write it up by urself or u can hire some professionals to do it.

the most important part is to make sure those articles u r providing are with top quality......and original.

it can be free or if u outsource it.....the cost of articles seems pretty low to me compare with the long term steady traffic u r getting.

    hope it helps~!

any idea about how to use ur articles?

Here is what works for us.

    1) study your competitions and steal their traffic *insert sniggering laugh here*

    2) Use PPC

    3) Get Joint ventures (nothing beats networking and forming relationships with others)

    4) Write articles and post them to different directories.

    5) Use CPA, PTC, PPV and other traffic networks. (trafficvance.com or adbrite.com)

    6) Use press releases such as PRWEB.com (the more you spend the more exposure you will get so make your PR as good as you can)

    These are a start.

I also recommend you go and ask how a successful IM'er gets their traffic. But most of them will say PPC, and Joint ventures / solo ad. I do not know any rich marketers that use articles and free traffic. Get the targeted stuff baby yeah!

These are all kick ass examples above. I'll tell you ONE way not to get traffic: Twitter. It seems to have the lowest conversion rate around.

Here is a secret that many of us knows... A facebook page will help your Google rankings ten fold.

After developing my unique brand name I saw quite a few hawkers try to beat me out of my number one spot for that domain. They would have succeeded it it wasn't for FaceBook.

Here is a list of what I use that is free and gets all my traffic now.

This sorftware I got free in the War Room.

    http://www.warriorforum.com/war-room...-networks.html

I also write once a week high quality articles that I post on Qondio.com and ideamarketers.com that get syndicated thus getting me very targetted traffic immediately and creating great backlinks.

I also ping them then facebook, twitter and other social network them.

I also did the traffic blasting backlinking and other things.

Not only are these methods I personally use but many of my subs have
    used them with results too.

    Good Luck :-)

Wow! I get great clicks and conversions on twitter and facebook. I think it depends on the quality of your followers and how active you are with them. I don't over do the links and practice the 95-5% rule. 95% just information with no links and only 5% of the time make any offer.

Not much at all - apparently - for now. But (a) we know that Google doesn't like anything that looks like "bought-in links", and (b) they've assured us that the 2011 Panda updates are merely the first stage of a continuing process of emphasising quality and relevance, so who knows what their policy will be on this subject in 2012? Considering the lack of benefit just from what people refer to as "diversifying your link portfolio", it's not something I'd fancy trying, myself.

A business that depends on Google for its primary traffic, as so many Warriors have discovered this year to their great cost, is in principle only ever one algorithm-change away from a potential disaster.

I outsourced some linkbuilding for a year or so. I just stopped paying for it when I realised that what I was buying was a drop in the ocean compared with the SEO benefits I was getting by the syndication of my articles to relevant sites (exactly as explained in the very last paragraph of the post I linked to, above).

I'm not criticising my outsourcees, saying that: they were very highly recommended, and did everything they were supposed to do and did it well, but they couldn't get the relevant backlinks that I gradually built up just through article syndication. And these days, that matters more and more. "Numbers of backlinks" alone count for less and less, now.

I've actually done better from niches in which I didn't outsource any SEO (I'm not suggesting that that's because it did any harm, just that the good it did is pretty limited and compares unfavourably, overall - that was just how it worked out, for me).

Celente (just above) has made the other points I'd have made.

              About a week?

I'll have three or four articles "ready to go" at the start, and even if I have a slow and unlucky start, one of them's surely going to bring a few hundred targeted visitors, at least.

I choose my niches partly to be as sure as I can that that's going to be so, of course.

The best sources can be ezine traffic, but for those you're dependent on their publishers' schedules and may need a little patience.

Originally Posted by JLA View Post

The potential return isn't worth the expense?
I do blog commenting (on relevant blogs), and participate a little in relevant forums which allow me sig-file backlinks, and sometimes I reply at Yahoo Answers for backlinks (have done well for "targeted, buying traffic" from there, always slightly to my surprise!).

I'm doing those three things primarily for traffic, but obviously it would churlish for me to deny my awareness of their backlink value, as long as they're "relevant" places.

Apart from that, no; it isn't really worth it to me. That doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't to anyone else, though. I'm not really willing to put too much time/effort/money into anything targeted specifically at Google traffic.

Search engine traffic is just intrinsically precarious and unreliable, compared with article syndication traffic. It's a way of becoming dependent on Google and I do it a bit reluctantly. :p

Admittedly, I say this knowing that eventually I'm going to get some good rankings because of the syndication of my articles to relevant sites, of course, as explained in the last paragraph of the post linked to above. And I admit that I do some keyword research - just a lot less than many people - and I do write the articles targeting some long-tail keywords for which I think I can rank, so that when they get syndicated, they'll "get me somewhere extra".

But this is "afterthought traffic" for me. If Google de-indexed all my websites tomorrow, it wouldn't seriously affect my income. Obviously, I'd rather they didn't, though.

                  It hasn't, actually.

I've been lucky, because the Panda updates were so helpful to article marketers with syndicated articles, as it turned out: getting all the article directories out of the way made it a lot easier for our own sites to rank with their relevant backlinks, and took away the potential problem that EZA copies of articles could ever outrank our own copies. So I shouldn't complain.

Well ... "actively" is perhaps putting a bit strongly, but I'll definitely take it into account, yes. (And ezines more so than websites, usually.)

It's helped me ... but to be honest I've so far perhaps had a slightly more limited range of niches to choose from than many marketers, because I've also been selecting them partly according to the ClickBank products available (and I have very clearly defined selection-criteria for those, which I stick to pretty uncompromisingly because they've been really kind to me), but that's something I'm planning to be a little less concerned about in future (by diversifying more, and promoting more non-ClickBank products, too).

But I certainly take "estimated ease/difficulty of getting articles syndicated" into account in niche selection; yes.

None ... I'll still be concerned, while choosing ClickBank products, about my product selection criteria (which are listed here), but overall I'll be slightly less concerned about selecting ClickBank products altogether simply because I plan to continue diversifying the products I promote, and to promote more non-ClickBank products. (Nothing "against ClickBank" in this - I'm just nervous "in principle" of having 90% of my income coming from the same source).

No; personally I wouldn't do that, because "writing the articles and having them syndicated" are the primary skills I bring to my own table, in internet marketing terms, and at least for now I want to develop those further rather than diversifying my business model itself (and because I don't want to be dependent on Google - and particularly not to spend money on developing anything that's dependent on Google and risk having a business that's only one algorithm-change away from a potential problem - albeit that I've been lucky so far).

For myself, if and when I eventually decide to branch out into a different traffic source altogether, it'll probably be by learning about and testing PPC advertising as a traffic source, rather than by increasing the extent to which I aim for search engine traffic.

                          (1) If none of your websites have ever been deleteriously affected by any of the Google updates that have occurred during your career thus far, why the trepidation over subsequent updates?
Mostly because it's something I can't ultimately control, myself, I think - I'm one of those people who likes to be in control of as many aspects of my own business as possible, and not to be dependent on situations/circumstances outside my control, whenever I can avoid that. The collection of threads and posts, even from experienced Warriors, bemoaning that "their entire business was dead" after the first of the Panda updates was enough to give anyone pause for thought.

I'm badly qualified to answer this! For my first year or so, I had the "ignorant layperson's difficulty" of not being able to tell who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't. It was only when I had some experience of my own, and had read a few up-to-date SEO textbooks, that I developed enough judgment to know much about it, really.

No - I think they're a big mixture. I certainly know some who don't fall into that category at all, but I think in a hugely popular, well-attended forum in which so many people are promoting various different kinds of SEO services, it would be surprising if there weren't also some who do. Don't you agree?

I've certainly seen some people here promoting SEO services (either in their sig-files or as WSO's or both) making statements I now know perfectly well to be clearly, verifiably, factually incorrect. No great surprise there, I think? In a place this size, it would be astonishing if that weren't the case, wouldn't you say?

Clearly many other members could also make the same observation (and sometimes do).

But there are mixtures of "better people and worse people" wherever one looks, I think? It's pretty difficult for the layperson to know, with certainty and confidence, even whether her own dentist is completely competent, professional and reliable, isn't it? I think it's pretty unarguable that there are going to be "better ones and worse ones", isn't it?

They perhaps wouldn't particularly give me pause for thought so much with the largely non-Google-dependent business model I have - they would with others, though. Mostly because how much Google likes/dislikes my sites is something I can't ultimately control, myself, I think - I'm one of those people who likes to be in control of as many aspects of my own business as possible, and not to be dependent on situations/circumstances outside my control, whenever I can avoid that.

Not so much, really, no - because as I mentioned above, I've actually done better, overall, for SEO with the sites for which I didn't outsource any backlink building.

This is true, but one can hardly help forming some sort of overall impression (albeit a subjective and maybe not completely reliable one) of "what's going on" when so many people apparently share the same experiences, and when Google comments fairly publicly about its objectives (as they sometimes do, on their own sites/blogs, via Matt Cutts' blog/video clips, and so on - albeit sometimes slightly in the form of what Wikipedia might choose to call "weasel words").

Yes and no ... I think that's perfectly true regarding the specific details and specific outcomes of those specific algorithm changes: the general principle, however (i.e. that Google can pull sudden and dramatic changes and people's businesses can all-but-disappear overnight as a result) is clearly highly relevant to many of us, and obviously it highlights the underlying precarious and unreliable nature of "search engine traffic", compared with other forms. That's neither unfair nor unreasonable, is it?

It doesn't feel that way to me at all, and I suspect you're tactfully giving some credit where none is really due: overall I had pretty poor results from outsourcing backlink-building, albeit that later and in other niches I had some very good SEO successes which arose purely as a side-benefit of something I was doing for traffic rather than for SEO (the point being that in the case of article syndication, the sites which syndicate one's articles, wanting to share them with their already-targeted traffic, are almost exclusively relevant sites to one's niche - otherwise they wouldn't want one's content, obviously enough - and their relevance happens to be what makes their backlinks so enormously valuable compared with most others). Google, it seems this year, values relevance and quality above all else. Fortunately for me, and all those here (of whom there are many) doing more or less the same things as me. In other words, the SEO successes I've had (which I admit have brought me income) appear largely unrelated to outsourcing backlink-building, and to be honest not directly attributable to my "implementing SEO", per se, at all!

This observation actually puzzles me greatly ... but in any case, to be honest, I'm instinctively puzzled by a new member directing all his first 6 posts specifically at me (and when I was initially an incidental poster, here, in someone else's thread) with specific questions - that's not a complaint, at all: it's just something that puzzles me - perhaps pretty understandably, because (a) I think it's probably unprecedented, and (b) my in-box suggests that others also find it rather puzzling.

Anyway, belatedly, welcome to the Forum, JLA.

remember its not about just getting traffic its getting eyeballs to your site that are interested in what you have to sell.

10 targeted customers visiting your site, is much better than 1000 people just thrown onto your site as LOOKERS! Infact your conversion rate on those 10 people will be much better I assure you of that.

So the moral here is to get targeted traffic to your site. Go to the communities and the websites they hang out on online, the high traffic ones, and see if you can put your messages infront of them, and get them to to come over and visit your site. Do this properly and you can make a small fortune. We been doing this for many years now, and it .....is how you say....works like GANGBUSTERS!!!

Over 90% of my traffic comes from articles written for syndicated outlets such as niche ezines, authority websites, blogs, and relevant offline publications such as magazines, trade journals, newsletters, newspapers, etc. During the holidays and special events I also often do extensive advertising in mass market magazines, newspapers, press releases and even radio spots. Traffic from search engines including Google have always been insignificant in my marketing model.

I’m getting traffic from creating Squidoo lenses, and this traffic is staying longer at my websites.

I also submit articles to EZA, I post a daily article to my blog and I post my links at Twitter, Facebook, etc.

I also use an automatic back-linking tool that helped my websites get more traffic without work from my side, but it is not free.

However, nothing is enough… we face a fierce competition online, in all fields.

It's alot easier to get high converting, targeted traffic than people think.

His conversion rate was something ridiculous like 93%.

There's tons of ways to get traffic. And i'm certain that this question has been asked in this forum over 1000 times. Question is... do you have the will power to put all of the traffic strategies you've heard into action?

If you have a weak blatter and quit using the strategies learned after 1 week... then maybe you should try selling on ebay or amazon... or fiverr.

I get most of my traffic from my own SEO Strategies. I also have plugins that post my content to other websites like twitter and my facebook pages, but I consider them sources of backlinks rather than sources of traffic since I believe you must have a lot of reach (100,000+) to see decent traffic from social media.

    Cheap and reliable?

    SYNDICATION:
Article syndication: Write a good, value packed article, instead of waiting for weeks for approval at ezinearticles, there are tons of sites that accept articles within hours, some in minutes.
Google the following words and you will find sites looking for articles:
    "Become a Contributor"
    "Add Articles"
    "Contribute to our Site"
    "Submit Article"
    "Add Content"
    "Submission Guidelines" etc.
Ebook syndication: write a mini report or even a compilation of your best articles (they must be related wrt theme), convert to pdf, upload to popular document sharing sites like docstoc, scribd, ebook directories and pdf search engines.
Podcast syndication: convert your articles/reports to audio format (odiogo or related sites) and upload it to podcast directories podcast aggregators.
write a step by step tutorial and submit to top tutorial sites.

    Link posts:
This simply means linking another blog or blogs in a way that is considered valuable. there are several types of link posts:

Suggest further reading i.e. include links after your posts to blogs that are dicussing related issue.

Build a resource/rolodex: provide links of tutorials, tips, discussions by other bloggers on a particular topic
Improve on someone else's post, for example if a blogger had previously written "15 ways to...", you can write "10 more ways to..."

Link posts usually get passed around easily and that means cheap and quick traffic for you.

Rank posts: A post that ranks some influential or popular persons in you niche based on some criteria.
Link roundups: A collection of links from related website, google link roundups
Offer content to hot membership sites
    Trackbacks
