Choosing niche keyword - shall I go for this one based on these stats?

Hi all,

I've spent the last few days trying to find a good keyword for a niche site using Market Samurai and have come across one that I think may be great!

However, I am not sure if it's a good idea because there are a few other affiliates already using this keyword. I'd like to share some stats and get your opinion.

The keywords show the following:

75 SEO traffic per day seems quite small, but this is for the exact keyword. As a phrase, the keyword has an SEOT of 137 and all are relevant.

...and the SEO competition shows this:

The first position is a government website and positions 2 and 3 are affiliate websites.

Should I go for this?

Thanks!

Jodie

Well this is not the best niche you'll get into but if you're willing to work on it go for it.

Take a look at what your 2 and 3 place affiliates are doing. Do they post new content regularly?

75 a day is not bad but I think you can find a better niche than this.

Thanks very much, Daniel. The other affiliates haven't added much content at all, but if I'm not in the top 3 spots, those 75 searches will amount to just a handful a day. I'll keep looking.

Thanks cb1803. How does one anaylze the profitability? Would you simply look at the AWCPC, AWV and SEOV figures or is there much to it than that? The two other affiliate websites are using Google Adsense and there is no data capture so there doesn't appear to be much activity. I can read into this two ways - either the affiliates have realized there is no money in this niche or they've optimized the websites as far as they can and are making enough money not to bother adding more content.

If it were me I would be all over this keyword.
The SEO profile looks very promising.
Don't think too hard. Sometimes you have to stop researching and decide to act.

To be honest the traffic for this keyword is not all that great so your landing page must be superior compared to the competitors to gain good conversion rates.. I see that the other affiliate websites have that keyword in their title, url and description looking at the data so it may be difficult to reach the top postion according to that matter. However, if you really believe you can be successful with this keyword then go for it.
