Facebook Has Changed Again!!

For short period Facebook allowed users to change the vanity URL "without" the 25 Likes, but that has changed back to the old ways of needing 25 likes to change your "vanity URL" for customization. Just a heads up...

Thanks for the heads up. Could be they were just testing to see what results would follow. Hmmm.... I'm betting they'll continue to do short "tests" like that out of the blue.

Very interesting. I didn't even notice that they were allowing it without the 25 likes. How long was this going on?

For a couple of months, I changed one profile without needing the likes but recently tried and needed them.

I guess you could ask a couple of your friends to "like" your page or advertise a little to get your vanity url

You could do that or buy your likes like I did...I used Fiverr and got 600+ likes for $5, it also helps the SEO of your page too (sidenote)

I was able to get a vanity URL on a page about a month ago when I first created it with no likes. I created another page less than a week later and was unable to do it.

I'm surprised you were able to do it for so long. I don't know why they make you wait anyway. You can fiverr 25 likes pretty quick. It's just stopping people from advertising their FaceBook Pages. I don't put the links out on my Pages until I get the Vanity URL.

Ok so I never joined facebook. But I probably should since it could possibly help with some of my IM and direct marketing. So is facebook going to get old like myspace - and will people switch again? Or will it be around forever?

I don't think it will be like MySpace becuase they have over 750+ Million users right now, I don't know about forever but they'll be around for awhile.

Facebook has become somewhat of a necessity for a large part of the population, whether that is for social purposes or business marketing purposes. Facebook will be there regardless of what comes along next in my humble opinion
I agree with you as well

I have never seen it be any other way than 25. Facebook does change to much to keep up with them. Makes it hard to use the site regularly.

Just buy 200-300 likes from fiverr.com. Get your vanity url fast and look like your page has traffic

If you're planning on having a vanity URL for facebook, there's software here on the warrior which automates "likes" to your fanpage.
When you get to the proverbial 25 likes, you can always assign the likes to another fanpage.

That software (WSO) is called Social Exposure system.

Obviously the majority of likes are from users creating fake accounts on FB simply to garner likes too...
However, some users are legit, but bottom line, you can get 25+ likes pretty fast using this method.

    Good luck.

Interesting strategy, are you able to assign the likes without that software? Either way that a pretty nice technique instead of constantly getting new likes you can just add them to another page...

Not only this, but facebook is constantly changing its API also. I just looked at the Developer's roadmap some days back for a Facebook Application, and it looks like they are deprecating FBML, which I used couple of months back for Like and Comment boxes.

Good thing is for the programming part, Facebook has a Roadmap page by which you can figure out what exactly is going to change and when. I hope they have something for these kind of changes too.
