I made TWO Ebooks (almost) that I believe in. How to actually SELL them?

Ok I soon will have two books/training courses ready to go:

1) A weight loss book (for a specific target audience) (86 pages)

2) A book/training courses on how to find a boyfriend (will be about 90-100 pages)

The last one isn't made yet but its about 60-70 pages done.

For both products I have a website. I also have an Aweber list to set up.

For the BF book, I have a free no-opt in ebook with a nice cover which I freely distribute from time to time. Sometimes on high traffic facebook pages (such as Justin Bieber) someone will like the post. Inside the ebook (30 pages), I appeal to opt in for more free stuff.

I also tried to email 10 other websites on finding a boyfriend for them to freely give stuff away to their list but none responded except for one that tried to get me to join THEIR affiliate program.

I also made several blog posts (on the bf blog) but that didn't get significant traffic.

I truly believe in these products, especially the "find a boyfriend training course." I am a man and I once paid 200 dollars for something of similar size from a dating coach (on how to get a girl to fall in love) and it worked wonders. So I want mine to be expensive as well.

My content is largely original (i.e. not taken from this other training course). I have studied the subject of human attraction from many different angles and I believe I am somewhat qualified. I am almost tempted to offer a 365 day money back guarantee on it and offer a 10-20 dollar consolation prize if it doesn't work out for them.

Now for my questions:

1) Should I offer the training course as pages in a binder and mail it to them? Or should I do an ebook? I heard physical products have higher perceived value and its harder to return them.

2) How do I actually get traffic to the pages and/or actually sell the products. I don't have trouble making the products. ACTUALLY getting traffic to the page and or getting people to know about it so they can buy it? I know its short order but with these two books/training courses I want to get 500 - 100 dollars in a couple weeks. I am a college student and I need the extra cash basically but its not essential I just need it for things like christmas gifts, money I owe, rent, etc. But i really wouldn't mind if I made A LOT MORE over time.

Here are some ideas that I thought of that might get traffic that I thought might be a good idea?

1) I am at a college. I should make a facebook page called "xxxxmycitynameherexxxxx Winter." For example "Jonestown Winter" (not real city name). The winter is particularly painful so if I make the page and friend the whole college network perhaps I can promote it anonymously from there?

2) Dropping leaflets in public places such as at my college?

3) Making youtube videos and distributing them to people on the college network on facebook??

I am afraid some of these would break rules/and or my female friends would find out what I'm selling (would not be good). But it seems more reliable marketing strategy than traditional internet marketing since I already have access to the network and I could sell it as a physical product locally to people in a demographic that care about it?

Thoughts? Basically how do I sell this????? How do I ACTUALLY get affiliates, traffic, and opt-ins and buyers for real? Should I focus locally and be anonymous by infiltrating the college facebook network? Or do I go more worldwide?

I would suggest building a sales page and using PPC/Adwords for getting some initial traffic.

I would echo Ray's first suggestion on building the sales page. If you want quick cash and these products really are high quality I would do the following...

      1) Create an ebook over a physical product. If you want to sell a lot of these quickly then it is far more practical to sell something digital then have to print off and mail hundreds of copies.

      2) Get some email JVs on the go. To do this you would need to find some leaders in the field. So for the weight loss product you could run a few related Google searches ('weight loss tips', 'weight loss blog' etc).

Compile a list of potential JV partners and then email each 1 individually. I find it strange that you only got 1 response from your last attempt so really focus on the personalisation here. Introduce yourself to the person, tell them that you have a brand new weight loss ebook (maybe even attach a free copy for them to review so they know how awesome it is), explain to them why you think it is suitable for the readers of their blog, tell them why it is so much better than other competing products and then give them a straight offer. Something like, "I will be selling this ebook for $100 but I would love to offer it to your list with a 50% discount". Offer them 75% commission on all sales.

If you do all the above and your product really is as good as you say it is then I imagine you will get some interested JV partners. After all, they are giving their customers a good product at a huge discount and getting a good commission on it.

Now I know you might be turned off by giving 75% commission away but remember the top people in the field will have 1,000s on their list so they can send you 1,000s of targeted buyers. If expert A sends you 1,000 visitors and 5% of these buy you will get 50 * $50 sales * 25% which is a respectable $625. Just a couple of successful JV partners would mean that you hit your target of earning $1000 in a couple of weeks.

The hard part will be convincing them why your products are so good and why they should promote them. They are 2 very competitive niches. However, if your products are as solid as you say and you give them review copies you should be able to overcome this obstacle.

Best of luck and I hope this helps.

      Tom

P.S. The Warrior Forum has a JV section here. Never used it myself but might be a good place to start your search.

You definitely need a sales page but I wouldn't spend any money on PPC. Instead, use clickbank and ezine articles to promote your ebooks. When I first began promoting my ebook, I tried PPC via Google Adwords and Facebook and only ended up losing money. It's the free methods that helped me and continue to help me sell my ebook....clickbank is not free but totally worth the $50.

Thank you all for the wonderful and interesting suggestions!!

As far as JV's go, I emailed ten websites related on getting a boyfriend and asked them to distribute my freebie to their list (80 ppt slides). The slides had the suggestion to opt in to my list right on them.

I also emailed another weight loss guru (maybe a few?) its been a while and the one responded but has her own product.

I've noticed that JV's seem really great but they seem like you have to already have a list to get a list...... Perhaps I should do as you say and show them the book?

This internet marketing thing is very difficult and it seems like to be successful at it it may as well be a job with significant training/business investments like anything else.

Im kinda getting exhausted with it. Granted I do more strategizing than doing, but I have done all those JV emails, made a 30 page freebie ebook (no opt in necessary), and made 25 blog posts just to get traffic. AND almost 2 ebooks.

Is there a way to sell the rights to resell these books? Would that get me good money? Or is that a bad idea or unethical? Like for example sell them to people who want PLR or sell the right to resell at 100% comission?

Thanks again everyone for the advice.

As I said previously, if these ebooks really are as good as you say they are and you sell yourself to the person with the list why wouldn't they promote it?

      Even if I had my own really successful product I wouldn't turn down the opportunity to make more money. If someone came to me and said the following I would jump at the chance;

"I've got this really good product that I think your list would really like. Here you go - have a read for yourself. I normally sell it for $20 but I'm willing to give your list an exclusive 50% discount and let you keep 75% commission."

I'm giving my subscribers a great deal and making extra money by sending 1 email. It's really a no brainer.

Also did you try the Warrior JV forum?

It's definitely not easy but you have done a lot of the hard work already. If you give up now all that hard work will go to waste. You are just 1 good website or JV away from your first sales.

You could always trial selling 1 as PLR in the WSO forum. It will cost you $40 but would give you some answers to a few of your questions. I suppose it depends how badly you want to hold the exclusive rights to these products.

      Hope this helps,

Don't stop now, when success is just around the corner. Doing 25 blog posts is nothing in the scheme of things. You need to do much more.

As mentioned above, listing it in Clickbank (for $50) and then using articles (like Ezine articles) to promote it is a good idea.

You can also promote it in your signature here (WF) as a JV opportunity for people with lists.

I would think given your niche that you could score some good targeted traffic from Facebook, it is a 'social' website after all.

Try one of the viral plugins, create a landing page, offer an incentive for becoming a 'Fan'. Create FB ad, use targeting to latch onto only those people who are single, male, belong to some large dating website or whatever. You can really drill-down with the demographics on FB ads so every penny you spend should get you something.

As I said in a previous post - try a new organization Authors: We Sell Your Ebooks . It's run by a well known IM, big in Click Bank and he offers to take your book and market, rather like a physical agent will do. You can choose lump sum payment, commission on affiliate or a split. Takes all the angst out of how to sell your book, especially if you're either new or not good technically.

Otherwise, get a site or wp blog, put in a shopping cart and work on the marketing side.

Just for the record, I have absolutely NO connexion with the site recommended, I did some research into publishing a book I have just completed, which is not in keeping with my current site and I don't feel, at present, like making another site.
