Affilate Banners on the Thank You page....thumbs up or down?

Hi fellow warriors,

is it a good idea to place affiliate banners on your Thank You page in the sign-up process?

some people mentioned it will disrupt the sign-up process by disattract the prospects.

however, it can be another stream of income.

any opinion will be much appreciated~!

If it is on your thank you page? then they will probably download your item and click the banner.

The purpose of the squeeze page is to get visitors to either 1) subscribe 2) leave the page. Don't give them more choices with banners.

I would recommend placing it on your Thank you Download page.
which is after the subscriber subscribers.

I wouldn't place it on the squeeze page, (which is before the subscribe) as that might distract them, and you might lose potential subscribers.

You should test at all times though.

Just like I wouldn't put adsense ads on a squeeze page, I also wouldn't put any distractions on a signup page. Leave those sort of things for the thank you page or inside your members area. If you DO decide to use them, then at the very least make sure all the affiliate links open in a brand new window so the prospect does not lose the signup page.

To do that the link would look like this:

    <a target="_blank" href="http://www.affiliatelink.com">Click Here</a>

Whereas a regular link that opens in the same window would just look like this:

    <a href="http://www.affiliatelink.com">Click Here</a>

      Yes, but you said...

Most of the people here seem to be talking about download pages. Is that the page you are talking about? The download page where they access your product downloads? From what you wrote in your initial post it sounded to me like you were wanting to put them on the signup page - when someone pays and they are then taken to a page to signup and create their account so they can log in to a members area. You were talking about the signup process. No, I would never put any offers during the signup. The only place I would put them is on the download page where they actually access your product.

I'm not such a huge fan of banners, but having a promotion for another product on your thank you / download pages is a fantastic way to squeeze an incredible amount of money out of your opt-in / sales process.

On my download pages I have a five step system for my customers to follow.

    1. Join the customers only newsletter - if they want to

    2. Download the product they paid for

    3. 300-400 word piece of text that pre-sells an affiliate product and offers an incredible bonus if they buy it. About 12% of my customers take this offer and it yields about $75 per sale - so I'm instantly adding $8+ per customer.

    4. Offer another free bonus

    5. Turns the customer into an affiliate

Absolutely nothing wrong with adding a banner or two on your thank you page. Just don't overdo it, otherwise everyone will think that is the sole purpose of your free offer. It's also a good point to make sure the offer that the banner points to is somehow related to your freebie.

Affiliate banners for a thank you page are nice and can bring in a little bit of extra income but if you've gone to the trouble of convincing a viewer to subscribe to a list or product then, in my experience, you will have more success sending them to your own upsell product.

Again, test and try each option out.

    It's another part of marketing.

You have an interested party's attention. Why not offer them a benefit while your page has a natural connection with thanking them?

There's still a choice. Yes please or no thanks.

Well, there are two kinds of thank you pages.

Your prospect signs up on your list and you say "Thank you! Check your email to confirm!"

There should NOT be a banner here to distract your prospect from confirming his email address on your list.

Your prospect then confirms in his email and you say "Thank you! Check your email for some spam, I mean, useful information!"

There SHOULD be a banner here to invite your prospect to spend some money.

So the answer to your question is "which thank you page?"

Couldn't agree more .it should be on the latter thank you page , CDarklock mentions .You obviously want to make some money but you don't want invest all that effort trying to get the sign up only to lose them before they actually sign up

Even they do not buy at the beginning with the latter thank You page , you still have another go at building relationships and generating sales

I wouldn't do this - but for another reason.

These people are brand new to you, they are interested in you, they are your hottest leads, your best prospects... why do you want to get rid of them so fast? Keep them close, treat them well... show them straight away that youre NOT just going to push products on them and push them to offers.. give them value, nurture them and treat them well at this stage.

If you plan on using these people in your list and you want them to trust you I would suggest not putting a banner up of just anything. I would only promote offers I believe and have used since you plan on marketing to these people in the future they have to know you're only going to show them quality products. Not, just pushing anything and everything with your affiliate link or whatever, like so many try to do. Use the list but don't abuse it. It's your friend if you use it the correct way.
