What Is The Benefit To Let People Register To Our Blog?

Hi everyone, I let a register link on my blog home page and lately about 10 to 12 new user are registering every day. My question is:
Does it benefit my Blog in any way?

    If you are using Blogger- google will give the registered users a "favorites" link on their computer so every time you produce a new post it will alert your subscribers of a new post. Yes, it kind of like your own e-mail list, but not as powerful.

      No, this is a WordPress Blog and it has over 700 users but I don't know if I can communicate with them or not or if wordpress send them a email every time I post a new Article.
