What is the ULTIMATE Way to Back Up Wordpress?

Hey Everyone.....

I have many sites on WP and they are getting hard to manage.

You see, I've had a few that have been hacked by some sort of injection and they've inserted keywords into my h1 tags and stuff.

I am sick of getting attacked and I need a surefire way to backup.

I have recently started using DropBox.com and I love dropbox, and I even have this plugin called DropBox for Wordpress -- but on one site of mine it never works properly.

I just wish I had a surefire way to secure my sites from hackers and also back them up without error.

Any tips?

I don't know about securing it, but I have been using Automatic Wordpress Backup in conjunction with Amazon S3. Totally seamless and automated, which I love.

Ultimate? The answer is not to backup WordPress. It's to backup your SERVER.

Use RSync. I personally use the guys at Remote Backup using Rsync or FTP.

My entire hosting account is mirrored via RSync on their servers every night.
If any site, WP or otherwise goes down, I can have a mirror image of my entire hosting account setup within hours to get online again.

Wide -- what about https://sitedump.com/? Your site?
Should I use that? I have over 20 sites.

Do not use Sitedump atm. Going to close the service down for a period of time, it's to unstable in it's current form.

Should be ready again in the middle of january though

    3 most common plugins -

Backup Buddy - Amazing in my opinion, I use this every time to create new blogs preloaded with all the essential plugins ,themes and pages in a matter of minutes

Backup Creator - By Rober Plank whose on this forum, really good too, but there's an extra step compared to Backup Buddy. This one is the cheapest ($37)

WP Twin - By Jason Fladlein, never used it personally, but I hear a lot of good things about it

      Fully, automatically, simply, and cheaply.

You have to think about what parts of WP you want to backup. Just the database is only part of the puzzle.

I like to backup up EVERYTHING - posts, pages, plugins/settings, site configuration, theme/customizations, widgets/settings, I mean EVERYTHING.

Then think about how easy/quickly you can restore the site.

That's why I use WP-Twin. If it works on your host, it's awesome! Also get the automated scheduler add-on so it backs up automatically. You don't want to have to remember to backup your site - it won't happen. I can restore a big/full site in 10 minutes!

I just recently got R. Planks plugin, but haven't used it yet. And it's not automated.

Lastly, whichever way you go, test the process and prove you can restore your backup on your host, because not being able to restore a perfectly functioning site is a waste of your backup efforts and leaves your business DOA!

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt!!

WP twin. They have an optional auto-backup for it at additional cost.

Buy it, it's worth it. You can use it on every site you own. You can even use it to create duplicate sites. It even clones plug-ins so you can deploy it at a new location and not start from scratch.
