Wordpress Opt-Ins?

Hey warriors,

I'm building a few new sites and want to use wordpress because it makes everything so darn easy. Only thing is, I also want to be able to have lightbox popovers (instant popover style) on the site.

Is there any plugin that will do this for me?

      Are you wanting them to subscribe to your blog as a USER or to the autoresponder list, or both - and is there such a thing as a BLOG "User/subscriber"?

      I get RSS Subscription ...[the gist anyways - intricacies not yet]
      I get aWeber double opt-in list subscription
      I get RSS subscription to the blog posts via email as well ...

      What I dont get - yet ... is ...

      I think there is a blog subscriber user functionality that lets people post comments - then they are users? With certain rights perhaps?

      question is if you guys would rather have them subscribe to your RSS blog feed via email or your aweber list - if you have to choose. How could you get BOTH in one crack?

      Maria, I am curious, how do you have it configured? Does it pop up after a certain # of seconds, or does the user have to do something? (I scrolled and clicked on the page, but I can't say the pop-up was for-sure tied to either).

      At any rate, it looks very nice, really slick.

        Hey Bailey thanks!

        I asked my virtual resource to get r done for me - I paid him $20 to install the action pop up, go into my getresponse acct. and set up the autoresponder, the download page for the pdf etc.

        I'd have to log in to see how many seconds it is configured...will try to take a peek tomorrow - enjoying a relaxing eve now so shutting off my computer!

      Yes, I agree with Tracy.

      I have a client's website (he is a fine art painter) that uses Wordpress as a CMS, and I have opt in boxes on every page ( I used a widget and just entered the javascript code Aweber provides into the widget).

      But then I used the lightbox popup box provided by Aweber, and our signups have increased dramatically. AND Aweber provides you with the ability to do split A/B testing. I am currently split testing both the opt in box AND the lightbox. That is, I have two different versions of the text in the opt in box, and two different versions of the lightbox opt in form. The lightbox split shows up at either 15 seconds or 30 seconds. The lightbox javascript code provided by Aweber is just included in the footer (just make sure it is located just before the </body> tag though...).

      Here is what is cool.

      The opt in box which is located on the side of the web pages converts at 4.4%.

      However, the lightbox opt in converts at 18.9%! That is a 14.5% increase in conversion rates.

      So between the opt in box and lightbox opt ins, I am getting over 23% of the people who visit the website to sign up. And they aren't really getting anything, except to be able to keep in touch with the artist.

      All from a simple javascript code provided by Aweber.

      Don't mess around with plugins. Get Aweber, and use the autoresponder tool to its full potential.

        Hahaha.. everyone is overlooking the fact that you can build an optin list automatically when a new user is registered to your blog. (I have about 500+ registered users on one of my "forgotten/abandon" prototype SEOed blog, which I wish I had turned on my new plugin when it first produced new users =(.

        Anyway, the good news is that because I'm getting tired of hacking the wp-login.php file to get the system to automatically subscribe new registered users, I've just recently finished developing a plugin that automatically reg user for your list =P.


        Of course, if you want a free/review copy, either PM me or wait for the free WSO during Chinese New Year .

          Thats pretty much exactly what I was asking in my second post.

          Id like to get my head around the blog user/commenter difference between that and a aWeber subscriber.

    I agree with Mike that the opt-in rate from lightbox effect is higher than the opt-in box on the sidebar.

    For me, I got around 27-32% opt-in rate for my blog. Before that, I got around 7-9% opt-in rate for the sidebar version.

    And yeah, aweber can generate the lightbox effect code for you. If you know a bit on technical, you will be able to put it into your blog easily.
    However, if you not so techie, you can find some plug-in to handle the job for you.
